I never use my grill - other than for storage of cake tins etc.
We use the oven for cooking stuff.
It’s an integrated type oven with grill in the top

What do you cook in yours? I’m totally lost 🤣🤣

Bacon
Sausages
Chops
Cheese on toast
Occasionally to melt some cheese on top of a cooked dish
Gammon steaks
Occasionally toast if it is something thicker than the toaster

ReviewingTheSituation · 26/01/2022 23:25

Toast (I don't have a toaster) and bacon. That's it!

I really shouldn't read threads like this at this time of the night but I couldn't resist making myself some cheese on toast

HeronLanyon · 26/01/2022 23:51

I just made some cheese and toast also ! Didn’t really eat dinner and was suddenly v hungry. It’s a great late night meal.

Enough4me · 26/01/2022 23:53

Bacon
Teacakes
Not at the same time, but could be tasty with maple syrup.

@NewYearCalavicci, what green food did you add in your cheese on toast and is that pre-grilled?
(I grill until cheese is mid brown but like crunchy toast).

NewYearCalavicci · 27/01/2022 00:00

@Enough4me
It's the top of spring onions ( not pre grilled ) ,I normally slice a bit of red onion but I cba'ed at this time of the night.

What cheese did you have ? Mine is pilgrims choice extra mature

HeronLanyon · 27/01/2022 00:06

I’ve just had Waitrose extra mature cheddar. But had to keep eye on it as not at eye level (loved your post upthread about the warning you were given about your elg).

Enough4me · 27/01/2022 00:21

Spring onions and pilgrims choice sounds lovely, mature cheddar definitely tasty.

I like strong cheddar or vintage gouda, with Branston pickle or traditional pickle onion on the side. Splash of lea and perrins.

NewYearCalavicci · 27/01/2022 00:26

Argh the LP how did I forget to add that
Ah well I know what I am having for brecky in about 6 hrs YIKES .
Time for sleep after I have got rid of all the sodding crumbs

Enough4me · 27/01/2022 00:30

I'm thinking grilled bacon, will probably dream about it Grin

Bacon
Sausages
Halloumi
Burgers - veggie or chicken
Cheese on toast
Frittata/omelettes

Ours is a top oven too but we only really use it as a grill.

Bloodybridget · 27/01/2022 01:31

Like lots of other people here, our top oven is also the grill and we use it far more than the main oven, mostly for baking/roasting; but grill if we want more than two slices of toast at the same time, cheese on toast, peppers that need to be skinned, kebabs although we hardly ever have those. I should use it more for fish and meat.

SomeOwlsCoo · 27/01/2022 01:46

Nothing because my grill is the top oven but you have to leave the door open to use the grill (or so I was told. Maybe that's wrong?) And the door is broken and doesn't stay open Hmm

Itstheprinciple · 27/01/2022 06:55

Bacon, sausages, cheese on toast, used it last night to set the top of an omelette and melt the cheese. Ours is part of our oven and it drives me mad. Wish I had a separate compartment for the grill instead of all in one.

crosbystillsandmash · 27/01/2022 07:05

I'm coeliac, do our grill is my toaster as I can't use the family one!
The only other thing it's used for, is grilling the cheese on top of ds's omelettes Grin

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 27/01/2022 07:47

Cheese on toast
Chicken kebabs
Finishing omelettes, to cook the runny egg
A flash browning of e.g. the cheese and breadcrumbs on top of a cauliflower/macaroni cheese combo

rambleonplease · 27/01/2022 11:28

Cheese on toast. Sausages. Finish of Mac and cheese with a little grilll. Pine nuts.

Harrriet · 27/01/2022 12:05

Lamb chops
Bacon,sausage, tomato/black pudding
Crumpets/ bagels/Teacakes
Cheese on toast
Kebabs
Fish
Fish fingers
Finishing omelette/fried eggs

BillyAndTheSillies · 27/01/2022 12:23

We don't have a toaster so use it for toast. And finishing off lasagnes.

Merrlin · 27/01/2022 12:38

I adore honey soy grilled pork chops.

Norgie · 27/01/2022 12:54

My grill is in the top oven, which is never used as an oven.
I use it for cheese on toast, bubbling cheese on top of dishes, grated cheese and milk and pizza.
Bacon, sausages, chops, steak etc go in the Forman.
Cheese toasties, waffles etc go in toaster bags into the toaster.

HoliHormonalTigerlilly · 27/01/2022 13:28

Halloumi
Bacon
Browning mac n cheese
Toast
Crumpets
Fish
Tomatoes
Mushrooms
Anything that needs browning I guess!

HeronLanyon · 27/01/2022 13:41

Yes to flatbread ‘pizza’ - started doing these every now and then fairly recently (with obscene amount of garlic often) - revelation.
