So what actually is it????

It's a website with a puzzle where every day there is a new 5-letter word to guess. You get six chances and you are told if you get the right letter in the wrong place or in the right place.

You get a different colour square if you get the right letter in the right position, or if you get the right letter in the wrong position.
There is only one word per day, and it's the same for everyone.

I get your point but sometimes people like to chat about things - especially on a chat forum
We can all Google anything but sparking a conversation is different.

Yes, start with a guess though you can optimise your chances by choosing a good first word with a variety of vowels and a couple of common consonants. Then it's pretty much a combination of luck and psychic ability 🤣
Absorbing though.

Lingo has their own app, just like wordle, but can do 4,5 or 6 letter words.

Think about the most commonly used vowels and consonants and try a word with those in. Grey means it’s wrong and you discount them, yellow is correct, but in the wrong place and green is correct and in the right place.

Is there a thread anyway where we compare Wordle results?

To be honest, I downloaded it and have been wondering what all the fuss is about. Turns out, thanks to this thread, I have downloaded the wrong app (same name).

It’s every second fb post and very annoying.
(Haven’t looked at the website just sick of it all over my fb)

It's like a cross between Mastemind and Hangman.

I was ignoring it till during a discussion about leaning new languages in my performance review, my boss said he was writing a wordle type app as a means to go to grips with Python. Which is probably a bit more interesting than the game itself. It's OK, but about as satisfying as one prawn cracker.

If you didn't start right at the beginning there's an archive site with all the words since it started at www.devangthakkar.com/wordle_archive/
