Best prosecco?

Hello everyone,

Wanted some opinions if possible…. for our wedding in 6 weeke we can provide our own alcohol and cant decide on a prosecco… what are your recommendations? Ideally we’d want to keep costs down but equally dont want to serve something super cheap that doesn’t taste nice.

Have tried a few from Aldi/ Tesco/ Sainsburys / Asda but struggling to find a good value one si any recommendations welcome.

@Crunched sorry missed the ops second post yes it is over £10

Livpool · 09/01/2022 20:43

@Stiffcondomhat

Another vote for aldi organic. Martini prosecco is one of my favourites but has been hard to find for the past couple of years.
I saw the Martini one in Home Bargains today

Another vote for cremant- nicer than Prosecco and closer to champagne. Whatever you serve, make sure it’s as cold as it can be - even cheaper white wine can taste better as long as it’s well chilled. Often caterers will put out white wines on the tables way too early or not in ice buckets so they are not chilled by the time you sit down.

@PosiePerkinPootleFlump

None. Get Cremant instead... Drier and nicer
Just coming on to say this. The M&S one is lovely!
lottiegarbanzo · 09/01/2022 20:45

Cava or cremante.

Methode Champenoise, better taste, still affordable.

ChipsAndKetchup · 09/01/2022 20:47

I had Chapel Down sparkling wine at my wedding and it was lovely.

I also recommend M&S Prosecco. Easily the best I've tried. Smooth and no aftertaste it's just delicious.

RosiePosieDozy · 09/01/2022 20:49

I don't really like prosecco but did try one from M&S over Christmas and it was really nice. I would guess that's it's approx £6 or £7. You should definitely try this one.

willthatbeall · 09/01/2022 20:49

Personally I prefer champagne or Crèment de Loire to Prosecco or cava.
Lidl sell crement for about £8.50 or slightly higher for 'branded' at Tesco or sainsburys. Champagne is £13.99 at Lidl

JanuaryBluehoo · 09/01/2022 20:51

Wow this thread is making me want to try cement whatever that is and aldi organic!

AliceMcK · 09/01/2022 20:52

I’ve started to really enjoy the Graham Norton one.

MrsBungle · 09/01/2022 20:56

I drink a lot of Prosecco Blush my favourite is the Lidl one. I think it tastes the nicest.

Mooloolabababy · 09/01/2022 20:58

Ooh, Prosecco is a drink I struggle with, I'd rather not have any than have a crap bottle. The best one I've found is Di Mondelli 7,8,9 from Sainsbury's.
I've struggled to find it over the last year but I noticed the other day that it was back in stock! It's lovely! £6.25 a bottle

Another vote for Aldi organic prosecco

Fluffster99 · 09/01/2022 21:13

Thank you everyone so much - it’s really appreciated!

We are going to do a taste test with our families this week with some of the recommendations here :)

M&S £8 a bottle with an orange label is A-mazing

Mykittensmittens · 09/01/2022 21:18

Crem ant knocks socks off both cava and Prosecco.

My in laws are wine buffs. NYE we served cremant after supper. MIL says ‘this is a good champagne, what is it?’ - FIL says ‘Lanson is my bet’ - err no - £10 a bottle aldi cremant.

It’s still more expensive than Prosecco or cava, but it tastes amazing. It’s dry and almost salty. It’s a lovely, moreish drink. The trouble will be getting it any lower in price than a tenner, and choice. Although aldi also do ‘by the case’ delivered free now.

Kshhuxnxk · 09/01/2022 21:19

I generally am not a fan of Prosecco but at the weekend had two types - one was Giusti Asolo Prosecco Superiore Extra Brut and the other Kylie Minougue Prosecco Rose. Both were actually quite nice and I would have them again.

RamonaandBeezus · 09/01/2022 21:25

Aldi organic in the short, wide bottle and Lidl do a similar organic prosecco now in the same shaped bottle. M&S gold bottle prosecco is nice too but more expensive Smile

Grandadwasthatyou · 09/01/2022 21:42

Agree with @PosiePerkinPootleFlump and @justaweeone .. Since being introduced to cremant limoux I am a complete convert and don't drink prosecco anymore. Similar prices as well.

Tootyfilou · 09/01/2022 21:44

Sainsbury Taste the difference Cremant is absolutely delicious.

FluffyBooBoo · 09/01/2022 21:45

The nicest prosecco I have tried is Aqualta, which I got at Majestic.

Grandadwasthatyou · 09/01/2022 21:50

@JanuaryBluehoo .. crémant is a French sparkling wine similar to champagne at a fraction of the price but excellent quality. 8 different wine regions in France produce it and I prefer that of the Limoux region.
As other posters have said serve it very chilled.
I've had good bottles from M & S and as somebody else said either Lidl or Aldi ( I can never remember which).

Cheermonger · 09/01/2022 21:52

Aldi Cremant is 8.49 per bottle and is bloody lush

Grandadwasthatyou · 09/01/2022 21:52

@Fluffster99 ..oh and congratulations on your forthcoming nuptials. How exciting.

heidbuttsupper · 09/01/2022 21:52

I love the Tesco prosecco with the chequered label
