How's your Christmas Day going?

JohnSmithDrive · 25/12/2021 11:09

When I got back to the car after parkrun, I had a completely flat tyre. Feeling accomplished to have sorted it myself though Smile

When I got home I had to take the plunger to the toilet.

What's next?

All good here, eldest is thrilled with his new toys, youngest doesn't have a clue what's happening (she's 5 months old) but is fixated on the twinkly Christmas light's and tinsel so she's happy. Just put the turkey in the oven, i need to go upstairs and hunt down the crackers for the table and pretty soon I'll open a bottle of something strong and spend the rest of the day in a varying state of inebriation.

GTAlogic · 25/12/2021 12:26

Fine so far. Oven's on, dinner's in, most people in the house are happily and quietly playing with new Lego sets.

Ginger2007 · 25/12/2021 12:31

Having a disaster as chicken didn’t defrost overnight in fridge, removed packaging having plugged into a sink of warm water for ten mins. Now naked on a plate and feels very cold but has thawed a bit in past half hour. No microwave as no space for one and now going to have to cook late afternoon unless I can speed up the thawing. Any ideas welcome! Thanks

languagelover96 · 25/12/2021 12:38

Opened all presents now. Now having lunch.

Spudina · 25/12/2021 12:40

Thank goodness. A place to vent. After the children bickering all morning because DD2 wouldn’t let let DD1 play on her toy (even when she was ignoring it) and various other things, I told them that they were ruining Christmas that DH and I have slaved over and how much did they think their fucking presents cost (the big ones are from us not Santa) and to stop being ungrateful. Then I made them cry again by making them have lateral flows so we can visit family. Not the best Christmas ever.....

PeonyRose80 · 25/12/2021 12:40

Badly… tech we bought as main gifts didn’t work (taken hrs to sort and v stressful) totally our fault we should have done in advance.

Opened the champagne 🍾

HarrisMcCoo · 25/12/2021 12:42

Stressful dealing with temper tantrums, got woken by youngest DC at 5.58am. Early bed for them tonight though.

Shattered and just want to be left alone to rest.

AuntieMarys · 25/12/2021 12:43

Fab. 5 mile walk, drinks in the pub. On way home to shower and out for lunch at 3. And still got all the presents to do!

Solidarity sister. Sounds like you are having as much fun as myself today so far😫

🍷 Later hopefully for you too🤞

edin16 · 25/12/2021 12:47

DS vomited all over me and his room at 5:30 this morning.

Hopefully he's going to wake up a little happier after his nap.

BackBackBack · 25/12/2021 12:49

Good so far. DH made a lovely breakfast. Just been out digging in the garden because it's dry and mild. Now having a quick lunch whilst watching telly. Then off for a dog walk and then I'll prep dinner (we have our Christmas meal in the evening).

ImInStealthMode · 25/12/2021 12:50

Parkrun, quick coffee with DP's family (proper celebrations for them were yesterday) then home for bacon sandwiches and presents. Nap on the couch now in front of a Christmas movie, video call with my folks a bit later, then a big cheese / charcuterie board and a bottle of fizz / bottle of red.

Christmas may be better with kids but it's not so bad without Wink

desperatehousewife21 · 25/12/2021 12:51

Going good so far, although me and DH are so tired we want to nap Xmas Grin DD (9) woke up at 1am with a headache and then both kids awake before 6.

Roast is currently cooking and I’m thinking of cracking open a cider.

FrenchyQ · 25/12/2021 12:51

It's actually going really well. Presents all went down well. Dinner is cooking and it's very chilled. Kids (well 22 and 15) are both playing on their new pokemon switch games so actually getting on!

AutumnAlmanack · 25/12/2021 12:54

DH gave me a train set and a painting by numbers set! Maybe he thinks I am in my second childhood!!

Glentheredbeakbattleostrich · 25/12/2021 12:56

Absolutely lovely so far.

Walked the dog at 7, made fresh croissants, had tea and croissant in bed reading. DD got up (with a small amount of encouragement) at 8:30. Everyone got what they loved gift wise so very happy people.

Watched the rocket launch with an excellent glass of red and now singing along to bad Christmas songs.

Still in PJ's, lots of lovely snacky food to nibble and some board games to play with a Christmas movie in the background.

bearlyactive · 25/12/2021 12:56

My new Kindle is charging and I'm salivating thinking of all the books I'm going to buy with the £50 Amazon voucher I got myself with points I have accrued after taking lots of surveys for the last six months. Might get another one as I have more than enough points Grin

best gift i ever got was my mr frosty 4 years ago! I'd waited 33 years for it 🤣
YenniferOfVengaBus · 25/12/2021 13:00

Yesterday evening I found out an old friend/ex has
died. He was only 46.

Bit of a sleepless night with the news.

Pretty tired and flat.

DH and I are a bit disconnected and have been for a while. Presents were nice but a bit of a sign we don’t really know one another that well anymore.

Watched “The French Despatch” last night as I love Wes Anderson and thought it would be an ideal Christmas Eve movie. It wasn’t his best.

Had an upset tummy this week so plain food for me- some of the roast and white rice rather than the lovely dinner I had planned. No sweets or alcohol or cheese or coffee for me. If I say “fuck it” I’ll really suffer for a couple of days.

Cat likes his heated blanket and catnip lick and one of the big gift bags though so that’s something.

All first world problems except the first one. It’s really sad.

ElleGettingBetter · 25/12/2021 13:00

Last night was the first Christmas Eve I didn’t have my children, they’re due home any minute now and I am actually bursting with excitement.

Merry Christmas all!

Ijustwouldnt · 25/12/2021 13:00

Pretty good. We have a new guinea pig who's in quarantine and has spotted the other piggies through the glass door. Most heartwarming (of course guinea pigs aren't everyone's cuppa) but it made my day.
DCs happy with their presents (I think!) and I have some lovely new warm slippers to wear and a fancy new wine glass.
It's all good.
Merry Christmas everyone. 🥂

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/12/2021 13:01

Just DP and I this afternoon and evening. We've had a cold, soggy walk and now reading in bed with hot water bottles. I'm going to have a bath and then we'll watch a film. We had our Christmas dinner with the kids yesterday, so today will be the festive cheese.

Stretchandsnap · 25/12/2021 13:02

Up early and everyone delighted with their presents, took the pooch for a walk and have somehow pinched a nerve in my hip - so painful! Everyone gone for a pre-Christmas dinner walk and I am stuck at home on the sofa. Luckily I did most of the prep yesterday so I can conduct operations from the sofa (with a glass of champagne) we eat Christmas dinner late, so will gobble around and get the nibbles ready

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/12/2021 13:02

Sorry about your friend @YenniferOfVengaBus

Talia99 · 25/12/2021 13:02

Checked with diabetic relative multiple times that 2 o’clock meal was OK. Have just been told they must eat right now. Nothing is even close to ready.
