Why are you awake?

Here for solidarity.

Poorly DD who is 14 months and coughing a lot and wheezing a little - can't sleep properly and I'm keeping a regular eye on her. And bloody DH snoring again. Once I'm awake and I hear him, that's it. He has partially untreated sleep apnoea. Had had an op before we met in his 20s but refuses to investigate further and we don't have a spare room that either of us can hide in when needed unfortunately.

Both DDs have been tag teaming illness for months and my average sleep has been 4 hours a night since September. I'm really struggling. Together with coronavirus anxiety, it's sent me quite mental. I keep shouting or crying and I know it's mostly lack of sleep.

I have covid and it has really messed up my body clock. Insomnia is awful, I’m hot and cold, then I’m asleep during the morning which then causes issues the next night.
Wistfully remembering the days of being awake with a baby.

tinseleverywhere2021 · 23/12/2021 03:47

Itchy toes here post booster vaccine - it’s a thing apparently. It’s driving me nuts!!!

Then you start thinking don’t you, thinking about work, my annoying ex who wrote asking for a share of the Xmas decs yesterday- it’s been four years and he had access to everything when he left. I went away for the weekend - he didn’t give a stuff about any of it/Christmas. I lovingly collected it over years and years 😵‍💫 - go figure!!

It’s a no from me.

My niece slept over as her mum is on a night shift and she isn't settling.

I'm in the states, and it's almost 8pm here. I'm so sorry so many little ones are feeling poorly!

hamstersarse · 23/12/2021 03:57

Needed a wee

Taken a magnesium and I’ll drop off again shortly 💤

OnTheHillNotOverIt · 23/12/2021 03:57

@tinseleverywhere2021

The toes sound annoying but not as annoying as a claim for Christmas devs after 4 years Xmas Confused

Doublechins · 23/12/2021 03:58

Came down to sleep on sofa because DH coughing woke me up and I couldn't get back to sleep. Youngest DS followed me down and is also wide awake so we're watching the royal variety performance 🤷‍♀️

Agadorsparticus · 23/12/2021 03:59

My sleep patterns have been all over the show for the last few weeks, not sure if it's stress or peri meno but I've been up at 3am for weeks.

amysaurus87 · 23/12/2021 04:00

Feeding my week old newborn in the vain hope he will fall asleep for more than 20 minutes.

TokyoSushi · 23/12/2021 04:01

Not really sure why I'm awake, but sending sleepy vibes to everybody

Skinnyankles · 23/12/2021 04:03

The dog woke me up needing to go out for a wee. I woke up with a headache, sore throat and super thirsty and I can't seem to go back to sleep.

Thatldo · 23/12/2021 04:05

My 1 year old collie might have cancer😢

PatsArrow · 23/12/2021 04:07

Sane Skinnyankles.

I'm staying in holiday cottage. Dog barked to go out. I went down and he just just himself off down the street for a walk. Pottering around. I hate to chase him out of peoples gardens. Ffs. I'm in slippers and a big coat wandering around a Welsh village. Little bastard.

Husband has ear plugs in so never hears things like this.

Silkieschickens · 23/12/2021 04:07

Just had breast cancer operation and needed paracetamol and a drink which my lovely DH fetched. Waves to MintJulia, glad you are ok from first chemo and merry Christmas to you too and to everyone else.

Hope you get some sleep Yuko, it's hard with lots of sleepless nights.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 23/12/2021 04:08

I have a depressive illness. I go through stages when I get up for a wee at stupid o clock, then that's it for the sleep. Peri menopause hasn't helped, or having covid recently. It sucks. Eventually, over a couple of weeks I knackered enough that my body eventually goes back to a normal sleep pattern. Meanwhile I am tired and even more grumpy than usual.

Sorry to everyone suffering.

Oh no! That's horrible. I really hope that's not the case. Even if it is, there's a treatment available.
mooloop · 23/12/2021 04:09

Just fed my 6 week old baby. He has reflux so I'm now sat holding him upright for a while before lying him back down whilst he snores away!

teacherintraining · 23/12/2021 04:10

Not slept for weeks properly as have hideous sciatica from a herniated disc. You would think that the amount of meds I'm on would knock me out. 🤷‍♀️

Also my dog had a stroke yesterday so I keep getting up to check on him.

Sending everyone sweet dreams.....

I sympathise. I'm very similar. Mine started 18 months ago when my mum died fairly suddenly. I sat up with her whilst she died over a week. It wasn't a very peaceful death.
Now, coupled with menopause I go through periods where I go to sleep very easily but wake up around 2 or 3am. Normally last a week or two and then ok for another few weeks.

Exhausting isn't it.

HippyMoon · 23/12/2021 04:20

Content warning

I miscarried 4 years ago on 22/12/2017... which is also my birthday. So I am up because I have had my fourth rubbish birthday in a row and I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself. Also I miss my baby Sad

Rememberallball · 23/12/2021 04:20

Been awake since 1am when tried to move only to discover one of my 2 year 4m DTs was lying between my legs using my pubic bone as a pillow!! The other DT was lying between DH & I but at an angle which meant I couldn’t really move in any direction. Fed them both and got them back in the cot now and I’m lying here listening to them and DH snoring while I contemplate getting up to go find some paracetamol as I’ve got a headache.

Theywalkamongstus · 23/12/2021 04:32

OH with insomnia keeping me awake for the 4th night in a row. He's up n down like a yoyo. I'm on my knees.

Toddlerteaplease · 23/12/2021 04:34

I'm on nights. Very quiet tonight. So eating too much chocolate.

MiniPumpkin · 23/12/2021 04:37

Up feeding 6 month old. He only really used to get up once during the night but fir the last couple of weeks he’s been waking just about every hour and driving me mental. I’ve become snappy too -lack of sleep! I’ll be an absolute misery in the morning 🤣

lindos15 · 23/12/2021 04:37

Just fed 5week old baby girl, she's flat out I'm sat thinking about what I need to wrap what I need to do and sort out.
