Not the most inventive name but apt I think...

@Motherofmonsters fab cakes! Never made cake pops before. Glad the afternoon went well in the end. It's so much easier when they behave whatever you do.

Night night all xx

Motherofmonsters · 17/04/2022 10:52

Happy Easter!

Hope your morning is going well.

We've had PIL, my mum and brother up already this morning. Kids have done their Easter egg hunt and didn't fight over the eggs!

We're now getting ready to go to DHs Grandad's 90th party. The kids are super hyped up so I fear it's going to be chaos.

Chocolatetrifle · 17/04/2022 12:44

Happy Easter 🐇🐰

Hope everyone is having a nice day. It's sunny here. We've been to the playground this morning and pottered about. Cooking tea for MIL later.

Hope you enjoy the party later @Motherofmonsters.

@squishymamma, how are things going in the cabin?

I'll probably eat too much chocolate and have some wine later and end up with a migraine!

Here's my Easter decorations. I put the little tree up about a month ago when we all got covid.

Amazing cake pops @Motherofmonsters they look great!

Love the decorations too @Chocolatetrifle.

Quick post from me, we've made it back home with only one melt down from DS1 and are now sat in the playarea outside our block of flats while he plays happily in the sandpit. Planning to give the inside of our car a little wash since it's quite dirty so he can help out or keep playing, then a simple tea.

Happy Easter everyone and enjoy your family gatherings!

Yep, have had a good bit of chocolate orange and a few glasses of wine.

Glad you've got home ok @squishymamma, bet you are glad to get back to your own home?

Motherofmonsters · 17/04/2022 19:30

The party went okay, I found it a bit stressful as they had so many ornaments and crystal glasses. They did well sitting at the table but got bored as expected. I can't really blame them though.

DD had a danger nap and is showing no sign of going to sleep.

How was your tea with MIL? @chocolatetrifle I hope there is no migraine with your chocolates and wine.

Glad you made it home @squishymamma, did you get some help with the car cleaning?

squishymamma · 17/04/2022 21:41

Was very nice to get home! Have tried to make a dent in the washing and just relaxed a little too. DS1 went down no issues at 7.30pm and has just had one little scream - we think it was a nightmare because he was still lying down with eyes shut but it always makes me panic because they're so loud!

Haha @Motherofmonsters good question, I managed to do the driver side before DS1 turned up and used my cloth to clean the outside of the car and generally refused to leave me alone. So it's a work in progress Grin

It appears DS2 has begun his 4 month sleep regression so I am off to sleep now having just managed to get him to sleep. We've had a good run thus far so I just have to deal with it and up my caffeine intake!

Sleep well everyone.

Evening, how was today?

We've been ok, have been in and out really as the weather has been nice and we've not had many squabbles so that's good.
Find out about DS1's school tomorrow so keeping my fingers crossed he gets his first choice, which incidentally was my old primary.
Looking forward to bedtime now. Hope everyone is ok.

Chocolatetrifle · 19/04/2022 07:59

Morning, ds1 got into his first choice school, my old one, so feel a bit emotional this morning!

How is everyone?

Motherofmonsters · 19/04/2022 08:29

That's great news @chocolatetrifle, I'm so happy he got the school you wanted.

We're okay here, had a good day yesterday. We went to the beach in the morning and then had an Easter party at my mum's house in the afternoon.
Not sure what to do today, might attempt the park by myself

squishymamma · 19/04/2022 09:45

Great news @Chocolatetrifle! Bet it'll be a bit weird having him in your old hallways!

Yesterday was a lovely day, we were outside and played, had a nice relaxing time. Today has just been one huge train wreck, DS1 had his 2 year checkup at the health clinic and he's done nothing but tantrum all day - apart from in the doctors office obviously where he was all sweetness and light Hmm

Both boys have been basically screaming all day and I can't believe it's not even lunchtime, is it too early for wine?? Going to get myself a coffee and a muffin when DS1 goes down for his nap.

OP posts:
squishymamma · 19/04/2022 10:50

I have now managed to lock myself out of my flat because of our stupid dodgy patio door, nobody will buzz me in the main door and DS1 is not tall enough to reach the handle of the door. DH on way home and fortunately I can see DS1 and DS2 is sleeping in his bed but seriously, what is going on today at all??

OP posts:
Chocolatetrifle · 19/04/2022 15:57

Thank you, pleased he got in!

@squishymamma, oh no! Poor you, are you ok? Is it all sorted now with being locked out? Hope your DH didn't take too long to arrive.

@Motherofmonsters did you make it to the park?

Motherofmonsters · 19/04/2022 16:46

Oh no @squishymamma, what a nightmare! I hope you didn't have to wait too long.

I didn't make it to the park, to be honest I couldn't be bothered and they have been happy playing. I've been merrily cooking tea marveling at how quiet they are being (can you see where this is going) DD is fast asleep having a danger nap and DS is sticking play doh to the tv screen

Chocolatetrifle · 19/04/2022 20:58

@Motherofmonsters Grin, silence usually means trouble and mischief!

Well my boys are asleep so I'm going to go to bed because today has felt like a very long day.

Sleep well now hopefully x

squishymamma · 20/04/2022 21:46

Evening all,

I did of course eventually get let back in by DH, we then dropped him off at work and then I spent 40 minutes wrestling DS1 down for a nap. He's been the same today - very clingy and on edge, lots of screaming and crying. Not sure what's going on, probably making some kind of leap as his language skills seem to be developing every day. Bloody exhausting though, nursery was a godsend today!

Hoping for a decent sleep tonight so I can actually get on with some work tomorrow, despite mat leave i have a meeting on Fri i need to prepare for. Hope everyone has a good sleep!

OP posts:
Motherofmonsters · 21/04/2022 07:37

I hope you had a good sleep @squishymamma. Hopefully his leap will be over soon.

We had a good day yesterday, went to the woods with a friend and found a nice clearing so they played there for about 3 hours. They had some nice squelchy mud that DS was jumping in barefoot and climbing lots of trees.

We then went out for dinner with DHs friends that were down from Hull which was lovely. First time I've been out in the evening with friends in a very long time.

We are off to some different woods today with a different friend. It's got a really nice stream so I'm assuming they're going to get very soggy.

Hope everyone has a good day

Chocolatetrifle · 21/04/2022 11:12

Hi everyone, my Mumsnet seems to have changed its look and it's a bit weird, keep have to logging in all the time.

Anyway, hope you are both ok?

All ok here really. Had a busy day yesterday, ds1 was doing all about bugs at preschool so we went off on a bug hunt in the afternoon and then had an impromptu playdate after it, it was nice.

Not sure what to do this y. We've made rice Krispie slabs using Easter egg chocolate.

Hope everyone is ok today.

squishymamma · 21/04/2022 21:14

Hello! I've downloaded the app so trying it out, but I can't see everyone's messages while replying which is a bit annoying. Site looks different for me too @Chocolatetrifle

How was your forest walk @Motherofmonsters?

DS1 has been very clingy again today, refusing to let us put him down and getting really upset when going to nursery (promptly forgot about it and had a great day though according to the employees). I assume its just normal leap behaviour because I recall he's been similar before major changes such as rolling, crawling, walking - so maybe he's going to speak soon!

Had a nice time at a baby singing class with DS2 and got some work done. More work and some house cleaning to do tomorrow, thrilling I know.

Hope everyone had a good day! Sleep well

I'm finding this new layout awkward to use and I can't get to the end of the thread very easily.

@squishymamma hope your DS1 settles down soon. It could be those molars you know, it can make them super fussy and clingy.

We went to the library in the end this afternoon which was fine and to the shop where I got pestered for sweets so of course I gave in. I've got some work to do but have put it off today do will be tackling it tomorrow and the weekend at nap time I think. Hope you get yours sorted squishy.

Motherofmonsters how are you today ?

Motherofmonsters · 22/04/2022 07:57

Morning everyone,

We had a good day yesterday, spent 4 hours in the woods so we were all tired out. DS would have stayed longer if our car park didn't run out. He spent ages in the stream building stepping stones across and bridges.

After I had put DD to bed I felt absolutely horrendous. Achy, shivery with a massive headache so I was asleep by 8. The kids kindly slept through the night so I've had a good 10 hours in bed. I feel better but still aching, I'm not sure if it's because I've been lying down so long though!

DS has got Therapy this morning and then we're going to the park with their cousins. (I kinda want to sit down and do nothing though)

Hope everyone has a good day

Chocolatetrifle · 22/04/2022 18:15

Oh no motherofmonsters how are you feeling now?

We've been to a new playground today, had the puzzles out and just generally been outside a lot. There's been so much 'mummy mummy mummy mummy mummy' today so looking forward to some quiet time at bedtime.

squishymamma · 22/04/2022 22:01

Right the app is rubbish, I've now written 2 long responses and it hasn't posted either of them.

Hope you're feeling better @Motherofmonsters

Totally empathise @Chocolatetrifle, DS1 has clung to me all evening so it was a relief to get him in bed! Hope your ears have had a bit of rest 😅

We've had a good day, lots of playing outside. When DS1 is happy he's really happy, and I love it...just wish it was more often!!

Hope everyone has a good sleep.

OP posts:
Motherofmonsters · 23/04/2022 07:51

DD decided she didn't want to sleep last night. I finally got into bed at 3 and she woke up at 5, I'm not sure I'm going to survive the day.

My app is also not posting either, it's very very frustrating. I've been copying my messages before I press send.

I'm glad you had a good day yesterday @squishymamma, hopefully he'll be the same today.

Chocolatetrifle · 23/04/2022 08:39
