Following on from the previous thread:

Not the most inventive name but apt I think...

@Motherofmonsters, it went well, here is a photo, just put something small enough to go in the balloon then cut open. Just used some warmish water to melt the ice this morning. They seemed to enjoy it.

Is anyone having to sort a costume for world book day tomorrow?

DS1 has said he won't dress up, he doesn't really like it unless it's a superhero costume, so I had the idea for him to take The Everywhere Bear book in by Julia Donaldson and just carry a teddy.

It's pouring down here too today, makes for a long afternoon! Have got some cloud sand I saw in Asda, think it may be the same as kinetic sand so will report back.

squishymamma · 02/03/2022 12:34

@Chocolatetrifle great idea, I should try that!

@Motherofmonsters hope your inside day is going alright and you managed to find some more excitement!

I was ready for bedtime at 8am this morning, DS1 had a major meltdown because he had to wear his bib (it's like one of those apron things) to eat his breakfast. Like he does every morning. I ended up swearing quite a lot at him and going to get ready leaving DH to diffuse the situation Blush

DS2 and I have had a nice long walk though he's also being whiny, now I'm attempting to make brioche because I really want French toast and it's impossible to find in the shops here. Plus it's nice to have a challenge every now and again.

We have our Bible study group coming tonight so I'm very excited to see how DS1 deals with that, usually when we have people round he goes to bed but then makes us work to get him to sleep, it can take up to an hour...

Hope everyone has a good day!

DH got one of these for the boys and they are basically tackling him and jumping around and landing on him. He's also visiting the tuff tray.

@chocolatetrifle, that's fantastic!!

@squishymamma, I totally get the frustration. DS didn't want to go to school this morning so was refusing his uniform.
Hope your brioche turns out good and DS goes go to bed nicely for you later.

Loving this thread keeping me sane. Sat on the bottom of my stairs in tears as feeling like I've shouted a lot today and I'm exhausted!! It's so hard keeping two toddlers entertained all day ! No wonder I spend so much money on play areas

giraffes2021 · 02/03/2022 15:41

Too much screen time too in this house today 😭

Motherofmonsters · 02/03/2022 16:00

I've been there more times than I can count @giraffes2021. Toddlers are hard, really really hard. Don't worry about screentime, mine have it all the time

Chocolatetrifle · 02/03/2022 16:16

@giraffes2021 oh no, we are all like that at some point in the day waiting for bedtime. It's so hard, especially when the weather is bad too.

I can confirm that cloud sand is different to kinetic sand. Good old Asda, it saves me many a rainy afternoon.

Chocolatetrifle · 02/03/2022 16:17

And yes to the Tele, my faithful friend.

Chocolatetrifle · 02/03/2022 16:20

Oh, and this morning I washed a nappy pant with the washing and a bag of frozen peas has just gone everywhere inside the freezer, but it's ok because I've got cloud sand and slime.

squishymamma · 02/03/2022 17:11

Screen time saves our sanity too, it's currently on and has been for about 30 minutes...don't know how I'd make tea otherwise.

DS1 seems to think if he complains enough he'll get snacks instead of proper food, I predict another meltdown at the dinner table

Today is whiny Thursday and has been for 2 hours already, so much whinging! Argggggh.

Hope everyone slept well.

Chocolatetrifle · 03/03/2022 07:25

I spent 10 mins before looking up for an Ash Wednesday service at church, thinking I could take dS2 this morning, couldn't find anything, because it's whiny Thursday! BlushI seem to want to make this week longer! Grin

squishymamma · 03/03/2022 08:18

@Chocolatetrifle same here, DS1 slept well but woke up super tired and out of it, whining and wanting lots of cuddles. I thought he was ill but a mountainload of porridge later he was happily playing with his train set (though still looking pretty tired). Have sent him off to nursery and assume they will call if he is sick, but there was no way I was keeping him home if there was no concrete reason Grin

Hope you manage to fill your day and there's slightly less whining!

Motherofmonsters · 03/03/2022 09:29

Morning everyone,

DS started crying when going for a wee saying it hurts. I'm just waiting for a call back from the doctors. He didn't want to go to school so I've kept him home. He's sad he's missing out on pyjama day though.

DD is just screeching at everything.

Sorry everyone is having a whiny Thursday

Chocolatetrifle · 03/03/2022 09:53

@Motherofmonsters, oh no, poor DS, wonder if it's a urine infection? Hope you hear back from the Dr soon.

Chocolatetrifle · 03/03/2022 09:54

@squishymamma, hope your DS1 is ok too.

Motherofmonsters · 03/03/2022 11:28

We've been given an appointment at 3.30, DS has gone into school as he was really upset he was missing pyjama day
It's not something he can pass on and he's well in himself so thought it would be okay.

squishymamma · 03/03/2022 12:11

@Motherofmonsters hope your DS is okay. Agree it sounds like a bladder infection. I'd have sent him too!

Nothing from nursery yet but DH has called to say he's fallen at work and maybe broken his foot...just on my way to pick him up and take him to the walk in. Typical, if it's not a DC it's a DH Grin

OP posts:
Chocolatetrifle · 03/03/2022 12:30

@Motherofmonsters, yes he'll be ok in school and can enjoy his pyjama day. He might need cream or some antibiotics perhaps.

@squishymamma oh no your poor DH now! That's all you need! Hope he's ok.

I've collected DS1 from preschool and it's absolutely pouring down so will need to think of something to do this afternoon.

Motherofmonsters · 03/03/2022 13:05

Oh no @squishymamma, hopefully it's not broken.

Hope you find something to do @chocolatetrifle.

DD has fallen asleep into her lunch, that's never happened with either of them before. I thought she was looking tired

Chocolatetrifle · 03/03/2022 16:19

Hope DS is ok @Motherofmonsters. Your DD must have been tired. Everyone is tired here. Instead of doing anything remotely educational or fun with the tuff tray this afternoon we've been out and bought a turtle toy that poos on the toiletBlush. Can you tell we've been watching ckn toys on you tube?

squishymamma · 03/03/2022 17:02

That is brilliant @Chocolatetrifle!

I just had a breakdown in the kitchen, DS1 had a big tantrum and DS2 was complaining, and obviously DH is still at the walk in, and I just really felt so alone because I'm so far away from my family. Told DM and DSis and DM called and calmed me down, so that was good. Still a bit on edge though.

Does anyone have weird phobias by the way? I have a major phobia of vomit which doesn't help my anxiety around my DC. If anyone knows anything that helps (apart from exposure therapy) let me know Grin

@squishymamma, sending you a BIG hug from here all the way to you in Norway! Hope you feel a bit better later. Do you have any plans to see visit your family soon?

Hmmm, how about relaxation/positive visualisation or some sort of hypnotherapy podcast/cd you can listen to?
