Looking for inspiration! So far I'm thinking, cheese, nice crisps, and chocolate... Grin

@Misty9

Is anyone else actually going to be dining solo on Christmas day...?
Yes me. Got a positive PCR test results this morning.
Misty9 · 20/12/2021 16:21

@EducatingArti :( sorry to hear that. This bloody virus is rife now it seems.

@Onetraumaatatimeplease sorry you're working :( but enjoy that Christmas tea when you get there!

I'll be on my own. I've booked to go out for a curry.

I've just had a pre-Christmas lunch of a roasted duck leg with roast potatoes, garlic and shallots, green beans and red cabbage, and am downing a v nice bottle of white in front of the TV.

Nice! I went food shopping today and picked up a turkey dinner for two ready to cook thing. I'll eat the other half as leftovers Xmas Grin Also bought prawn cocktail, inspired by this thread, a steak, and ingredients for a curry.

Merry Christmas Xmas Smile

The champagne will be opened at 10am and oranges squeezed for a buck's fizz. I'm having a capon (male chicken) with roast potatoes and parsnips, Yorkshire pudding, sprouts, carrots, peas, pigs in blankets, stuffing, cranberry sauce and gravy.

Merry Christmas everyone!

BewareTheRedNosedDragon · 25/12/2021 13:26

Merry Christmas. I am having a marvellous day - got up late and ate choc croissant, fruit, chocolate and crisps with coffee. Watched Hogfather part 1.
Just got back from a wander in the woods and quiet pretty streets, and now drinking Prosecco while preparing steak and chips for me and ds.
I have a lebkuchen base maple pecan cheesecake for pud (made because the bloody lebkuchen were all crumbled when I opened the pack), then off to parents for post prandial drinks and back here later for Hogfather part 2 and baked Camembert followed by Christmas pudding.

I am surprised by how much I don't mind being mostly alone today. Cheers everyone 🥂

Happy hogswatch Grin

I had poppadoms and pickle tray, seekh kebabs, lamb kahari, cheese, garlic and coriander naan, egg and spring onion pillau rice, gulab jamun with strawberries and ice cream and a virgin mojito. There was enough to take home for another meal.

BewareTheRedNosedDragon · 25/12/2021 16:11

That sounds amazing sooty!

It was. £24.95 not including the mojito. Brilliant meal.

I don't have a traditional British Christmas and I'm always alone. I'll be making a pizza for tonight's tuck, with half a bottle of Zinfandel to go with it. I haven't eaten or drunk anything fancy or out of the ordinary so far today.

Misty9 · 25/12/2021 17:39

That curry sounds amazing! I'm currently cooking my turkey dinner, although this mulled wine is a bit too easy to drink Xmas Grin then I'll have Christmas pudding part 2!

I had an obscene amount of roast potatoes for one person. Other years I haven't really done the traditional Christmas food as it feels almost a waste for one, normally pizza or curry, but I was really craving stuffing, gravy and potatoes etc this year, so that's what I went for! And I had a long post potato nap afterwards!

Misty9 · 25/12/2021 18:32

I didn't think it was possible to have too many roast potatoes?! Xmas Shock Xmas Grin

I can definitely recommend the morrisons turkey dinner for two (oops!). It was outstanding and I'm stuffed! No room for pudding even!

I've never cooked a roast dinner but I thought there was an unwritten rule about cooking enough so leftovers are guaranteed for Boxing Day consumption, especially roast potatoes and pigs in blankets.

SortingItOut · 25/12/2021 18:56

I had my Indian takeaway today, it was lovely and I'm still stuffed.
Its been so nice today not to worry about preparing food or stressing over no one helping me to prepare said food.

I think next year I might opt for Chinese or Thai.

Everyone's food is sounding great

Misty9 · 25/12/2021 22:39

I managed to fit in 6 of the chocs dd bought me as a gift (gf and df) but that's it for me!

Hope all had a lovely day, solo or not Xmas Smile
