Do YOU remember this perfume (ca. 2005)?!

Something about not being able to travel much over the past couple of years has made me seek escapism through... perfume! I've gone mad for it. I've got together quite a little collection now and am missing one I used to have, but I can't remember the name of it.

The facts:
I bought it in about 2004/5.
It wasn't expensive, just an impulse buy somewhere like Superdrug.
It had a red glass bottle, like a lopsided/squashed cube (?).
I'm no olfactory expert, but something deep in the mix reminded me of chocolate.

??????????

I have trawled the internet, including Fragrantica, looking for clues, but so far drew a blank and I wondered if anyone here could help!

Samsara

@SW1amp

Oh god, I think I know the one you mean! A boyfriend bought it for me and I didn't particularly like it, but had the bottle on my bathroom shelf for years... It was one of the slightly lesser known brands and it is driving me mad that I can't remember it Off to google again...
I think you might be closest. I mean, it's not one you'd proudly display on a shelf. I did say I was a a cheapskate!

And it wasn't a celeb name...

Anyway, I'm glad I'm driving you mad too 🤣
I actually lay awake in bed last night trying to force my brain to do magic tricks in information retrieval!
Failed, obvs!!!!!!

???

Did it has a sort of cartoon-y/fashion sketch of a woman on/in the bottle? Maybe etched inside it, rather than printed on the outside?

flower1677 · 06/12/2021 10:20

The first one that popped into my head was So? Might have been a bit earlier, I'm not sure but wasn't overly expensive and quite popular for a bit

Crabwoman · 06/12/2021 10:22

Apologies if this has posted twice, but was it miss sixty? Squashed burgundy bottle.

TickleMyPickle · 06/12/2021 10:26

That fits the bill for the era and description.

No, it wasn't Miss Sixty.

And there was no imagery on the bottle.

I think it had a vaguely seductive name... but wouldn't want to swear by that!

And sorry, no, it wasn't Samsara. It wasn't made by a nice perfumier like Guerlain. It was a bit more downmarket, I think.

(If and when I ever find out the name, I might realise just how downmarket it was!)

It might be possible it's no longer made? I don't know how long perfumes go on being made for.

Bruno Banani?

Sebastianthecoo · 06/12/2021 10:35

Anna sui? That was cube shaped and purple/red but I think the bottle was decorative?

Sorrynotsorry2 · 06/12/2021 10:38

Any of the so.. perfumes ? They were small cubed bottles ? They did a red one ( I think )

PainAuChocowhat · 06/12/2021 10:42

The one I'm thinking of is 'Hot Couture' by Givenchy, but I can't find a picture of the bottle I had. Which I think means it was either part of a gift set or from duty free, because it didn't look like any of the pics I'm finding on google images

Entirely possibly cheapskate boyfriend from 2004 bought it from a dodgy place and that's why it doesn't look like the bottles Boots were flogging, but it seems to have been long discontinued so the packaging might also have changed

But it was a wonky square/rectanglur bottle with a sort of leg to make it stand up, and was dark red (possibly black on the other side?)

Tribe was the one I thought of when you said squashed cube

sjxoxo · 06/12/2021 10:49

I also thought Hugo Boss?! X

TinaYouFatLard · 06/12/2021 10:51

I was thinking of Hot Couture too. Definitely a wonky bottle and chocolatey smell - not sure about the red though.

Couchbettato · 06/12/2021 10:56

Oh my god I forgot about the miss sixty perfumes to whoever suggested those.

I hated them, but I got them gifted a lot and it's nostalgic so now I want some more.

northbacchus · 06/12/2021 11:03

Ricci Ricci by Nina Ricci?

PumpkinCrumble · 06/12/2021 11:03
