So far, I’ve had 3 power cuts which is not good as I’m trying to do a load of washing, plus I have tropical fish that need the heat, and a spider who needs bright light

Currently very windy and wet outside. Also cold

@Sebastianthecoo

We’ve had no power or heating since ; pm yesterday and it’s not scheduled to come back on till 10 pm tomorrow. No phone signal either except for one tiny corner of the house. Lost 70 metres of fencing but nothing compared to a man locally who was killed by a falling tree. Absolutely devastation all round us.
You’re not far from family/home for me, hope you’re not too too cold Flowers - pictures on Facebook are dreadful, lots of parks devastated by the loss of trees etc . House near my sister lost most of their upstairs windows - they just fell out .

I’m after waiting an hour for SSEN to answer the phone as I think mum is meant to be on a priority list of sorts, but haven’t heard anything yet . Been trying since 10pm . Probably fall asleep before they answer .

Okay... didn't expect to see that this morning!! Massively regretting saying I'd go into work this afternoon now cos I don't like driving in it. Physically cannot walk and do my calls with how far they're spread out either

We are ok.... But my parents still have no electricity. 2nd night without. My dad is on end of life care and can't be moved. Apparently on a priority list - if they had said yesterday that realistically it is going to be / could be another night we would have got a generator to keep the heat and water on (spring with an electric pump to put it through the filters). We were given the impression that it was going to be fixed yesterday.

Mydogisagentleman · 28/11/2021 07:44

We appear to have got off lightly.
Garden bins over and some plant pots gone. Who knows where.
I did find the back gate had ripped the top hinge off and the bottom is hanging on with 2/6 screws.
I think we will be off to a wood yard later

katienana · 28/11/2021 07:47

Our fence is down. We have a caravan and don't know if it is damaged, the site has been evacuated and still has no power. Lots of trees down and some caravans have been flattened. Luckily no one was hurt.

TheScottishPlay · 28/11/2021 10:25

Awaiting the 11am update to see when our power will be restored - from 7pm Friday.

FluffyBooBoo · 28/11/2021 10:44

A colleague gave me a lift home from work, instead of me walking the 2 miles.

Other than that it's not anything I'm not used to.

Unescorted · 28/11/2021 12:48

Still waiting for my parents electricity to come back on

howdoibegintodeal · 28/11/2021 13:02

SSE have just said online potentially several days for power to be restored to everyone - have just told family to go and get a hotel room rather than have another night freezing, seemingly SSE will reimburse costs ...

bigbluebus · 28/11/2021 13:07

Just heard a chap on the (battery powered) radio from SP Energy networks saying they hope to get us reconnected by tonight but it could be tomorrow. I've decanted the more expensive contents of my freezer to a friend's freezer as I'm not holding my breath for return to service any time soon. Have been out to buy more batteries and hot water bottles and there's not an SPEnergy network van in sight!

Unescorted · 28/11/2021 13:26

Unfortunately my dad is bed bound so can't be moved.

ChorleyFMcominginyourears · 28/11/2021 13:35

Loads of damage on the Yorkshire coast but personally we're OK, we've gained a broken trampoline that flew in our garden and that's about it luckily

BringMeTea · 28/11/2021 14:25

@Unescorted I am so sorry about your dad. I hope they get power back soon. Flowers

OrangeBananaFish · 28/11/2021 14:37

So sorry to hear that people are still without power. Makes me realise how lucky we are. Lost electricity around midnight Fri/Sat and it came on at half 4 yesterday afternoon. Unfortunately it was also the day that the car started to make a knocking sound so need to take it to the garage tomorrow and couldn't go anywhere to get warm yesterday - we have no gas so need electricity for heating.

Thanks. It is so frustrating b/c their customer service is so poor. We don't have any idea when they will be reconnected. The website says 4pm for all customers...... I suspect it won't be.

Bagadverts · 28/11/2021 15:33

Missed my booster jab - due to disability I rely on taxis and they didn’t have one Sad

Sleepinghyena · 29/11/2021 16:24

63 hours without power now 😢

Unescorted · 29/11/2021 17:29

So I list my shit yesterday. I called my dad's medical team who pulled out all the stops. Explaining that my dad would have to be a helimed to hospital. A generator was delivered last night and the were finally reconnected about half an hour ago.
@Sleepinghyena I hope you get connected soon. It is awful how long people have had to wait.

Ghislainedefeligonde · 29/11/2021 17:39

It’s been awful up here (aberdeenshire) some people facing 4th night with no electricity and also no water, phones, broadband. And so many blocked roads plus icy weather.
Our power stayed on thankfully but so many people suffering terribly up this way Sad

feellikeanalien · 29/11/2021 17:46

Had no power since Friday. Having to stay in a hotel. Every time I go on the Northern Powergrid website the time given for restoration of power is getting longer and longer. Currently saying that power will be restored at midnight tonight but it said that yesterday and the day before. Also very concerned about my 87 year old neighbour. He ran out of candles yesterday so gave him some and also a lantern. He was going to sleep in his chair last night as it was too cold in his bedroom.

DD has SN and is scared of the dark otherwise we could camp out at home. We still have water but only an electric cooker so hence having to go to a hotel. I can't even phone Northern Power grid as we have no mobile signal so will need to drive around to find one.

Added to which our cats are not speaking to me as they've been left I the dark and cold!,Hmm
