Hi Albie! Why do your vibrating cousins like my house so much? Since covid hit there's been lots of them in my house. The bathrooms are popular but they like the hallway and landing too. One had lots of teeny tiny babies not so long ago. I'm not sure where they ended up but they were in the highest corner of the staircase/landing. I refuse to clean away nests from window corners but do clear away old webs and spider pop/wee. Am I a bad person? When is it safe to open the bedroom window again? There was a huge beast that came in last year.

Aww, Lucus is very sweet! 🥰 As it's getting close to Christmas it's time for adorable festive video 😊

These spiders do really well inside houses because it's cosy and dry. It's fine to clear old webs away because spiders don't reuse webs. These spiders stay up high and won't bother you so it's fine to just leave them to it.

Hi Albie, another one here who is really enjoying your thread despite normally being quite scared of you. I would like to know whether you enjoy having your tank sprayed because presumably your cousins in the wild are used to quite wet conditions?

ChimChimeny · 21/11/2021 15:58

My mum has a wing mirror spider and she comes out and poops down the side of the car in order to keep the inside of the wing mirror clean. She's lived there for two years now.

I have one too! He/she once popped out when I drove off, luckily they ran back in before they got blown away.

My DH is scared of house spiders, mainly because they move so fast. We never kill fhem, either leave them to their wanderings or pop them outside. He held a tarantula once though & said it felt really nice Smile

I appreciate having the right conditions, but I hate the spraying and retreat to the back of my burrow when I see the spray bottle 😄

I love house spiders and always let them do their thing, but I have seen very few of them this year because of my cats - one of them likes to hunt them. And eat them. Sorry.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 21/11/2021 22:42

Please don’t put house spiders outside - I have read that they will most likely die.

You don’t want Albie to cry do you?

The dude at the spider enclosure at london zoo said it's fine to put them outside. I don't know what to believe! They go outside when I find them in my house, I can't coexist with the big hairy ones I'm afraid. They are too unpredictable!
muldersspeedos · 22/11/2021 13:36

Vibrators have to go outside if they are big ones. Small ones are ok as long as they stay away. Anything turbocharged has to go out. The adopted cats occasionally have them for a snack. I need to get some spider proofing for my bedroom window.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 22/11/2021 14:56

If the spider wrangler is correct then I will be happier re the crimes of my youth Nynaeve

SmellyOldOwls · 22/11/2021 15:04

Albie can you tell your equally large girlfriend to get out of my bath? I wouldn't mind but it's been nearly a week and the kids really need a wash.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 22/11/2021 15:19

Drape a towel over the edge owls - it is only in there because it is stuck.

It’ll find its own way out (leave it a drink though at the bottom of the towel) and your bairns can be scrubbed. Happy days 🕷

Could you pop a glass over it then slide some cardboard underneath? Don't catch its legs though 😄

@myusernamewastakenbyme

Wow, that's an awesome T 😃👍🏻

Spiders don't have willies. The boy spiders get us pregnant by rubbing our tummys with their hands grin

I am still reeling at this^

(wants to come back as a tarantula in next life...)

I wouldn’t say I’m very frightened of spiders, but this thread must be working on some level because my first though on seeing this photo was ‘oh wow, what a cutie’

DH let her crawl onto a tissue and popped her into a tommee tippee cup for removal. Kids are clean and hopefully our big friend is ok (I don't think she was enjoying life in the bath...not much to eat in there!)
tiktokniknok · 23/11/2021 07:43

@Albie do spider spray repellent really work? And would they harm you and your friends?

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 23/11/2021 12:46

Albie, I've adopted two spiders who like to hang out at night in my utility room. I assume they're ladies - what should I name them?

A smaller spider was hovering around one of them last night and is gone this morning - do you reckon he's procreated and become a snack overnight?
