Friend is hijacking our weekend away with her Body Shop shite

In a fortnights time DH and I are going away with some other friends for a weekend away in a cottage. One of my friends has recently joined the Body shop cult at home and has been pushing it any excuse she gets.

She’s now suggested the girls in the group have a ‘pamper evening’ which basically just means her trying to sell to us. Of the 8 of us, 2 have already said ‘great idea can’t wait’ and another ive spoken to isn’t keen on the products but wants to support her. I don’t want to fall out over this but I really don’t want to waste a Saturday night when I don’t agree with MLM and hate what it’s doing to my friend!!

How to approach this tactfully?

There's one thing that makes me go , and thats her use of the word ''wallet''. It more often men who say 'wallet', women tend to say 'purse'... is her husband supportive, or pushing her to earn?

It'll be in the script. Which is probably full of other Americanisms too.

Delighted that the sales pitch evening event is off, but she'll be bringing up the BS BS every other sentence given half a chance so I doubt that you are actually off the hook. She will still have plenty of catalogues etc with her. Every human interaction is a sales opportunity.

Just be careful while you're on this weekend away that no one compliments her on her perfume or her glossy hair (or whatever) because she may bring a few bits with her and see this as a way to introduce it into the conversation and BAM! you've lost your sales-free weekend.

That said, you could have a bit of fun complimenting others on the weekend away and ask them about what they use

Exactly what I was going to say @ThumbWitchesAbroad. She will be being pushed to take advantage of the weekend anyway so I wouldn’t be at all surprised if you hear:

“hi Huns! I thought I’d bring [10 tonnes of shite] some BS stuff with me anyway just in case you’re interested or we get a bit of time free”.

I’d be very surprised if she will be allowed to let the chance go by her upline and she may already be more concerned about answering to her than her “unsupportive” friends (as you may well be labelled). And, yes, as someone else said, make sure all partners are given strict guidelines about not purchasing BS for all of you for Christmas. There is a very real possibility you’ll end up smelling like a fruit pastel, drinking your bodyweight in Prosecco and filing for divorce if partners open up a channel for BS by buying it for Christmas! But be aware; this is not the last you’ve heard of it. Stay strong @Youngatheart00. Vive la résistance Hun!

Can you arrange with all the other women on the weekend to chorus, "NO THANKS!" whenever as she says, "I was just wondering who'd like to look at...".
