How do you do Sainsbury’s deliveries?

I had my first home delivery from a supermarket tonight and I’ve been very excited about it all. I think I did it wrong somehow though.

When the man came he knocked on the door and he had a stack of four plastic Sainsbury’s boxes then all the food is ordered was loose inside. So I quickly pulled all the food out of the boxes and just dumped it in the hallway in piles. The delivery man laughed and said that he’d never seen that unpacking technique before.

Are you supposed to keep the boxes or something? Carry them in and unpack them properly while delivery man just waits there? I don’t understand. I thought there would be bags and it threw me.

Been doing it for years and always just put it on the floor. What’s the point of putting it into a bag?

I've only had deliveries twice while DDs had Covid. The first time I was caught unawares, so dumped stuff out of the crates into the hallway and DDs started taking it through to the kitchen. Second time I put to use the side door so it went straight into the kitchen. I didn't want to take crates into the house. Delivery driver stood back (there's an option to tick if the household is positive) but had a chat with me... which was nice as it was the nearest i came to a proper conversation with an adult for two weeks not a phone call.

I carry Sainsburys crates from the front door to the kitchen and unpack there & then return the empty crates to the doorstep which the driver picks up

To carry it through to the kitchen in one fell swoop?

You do whatever makes you feel comfortable Grin I've done it your way before, when at 7am, I haven't prepared my bags! Nothing wrong with it.

Take crates in kitchen, unpack on the side and kitchen table then hand back crates!

@Nonbio46

I usually use my empty washing baskets to put the shopping in while it’s at the door. It works great for me.
What’s an empty washing basket?
