First weekend in Dec usually. At least that’s when we start. We have a lot so it takes a few days.

We will do outside lights beforehand.

Decorations stay up until 6 Jan.

I struggle in winter so getting ready for Xmas gets me through the first bit and keeping the lights and decorations up until 6 Jan helps afterwards.

@DentalWorries

27th of December here, even have it written in my diary Grin We make an evening out of it, crack open a bottle of champagne, have some M&S nibbles and play Christmas music.
You put your decorations up after Christmas??
Creepypastard · 04/11/2021 18:07

@Kljnmw3459

I'm thinking 1st December this year.
Me too

Around the 15th of December.
🎄🎄🎄🎄
Dd's birthday is at the beginning of December. I always do balloons and banners for her birthday, so no Christmas decorations are allowed before then.
Decorations come down before New Year.

MintJulia · 04/11/2021 18:08

First weekend in Dec.

notacooldad · 04/11/2021 18:08

2 Saturday's before Christmas.

DentalWorries · 04/11/2021 18:09

Oops 27th November not December!!

ABCeasyasdohrayme · 04/11/2021 18:10

@DentalWorries

Oops 27th November not December!!
You cracked open the Christmas champers already 😂

I thought it was a bit odd/possibly genius to do it after Christmas too.

Joystir59 · 04/11/2021 18:11

This year Possible second week Dec as I'm going away and won't get back until the 23rd. Normally 23rd Dec.

HazelandChacha · 04/11/2021 18:11

Second weekend in December.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 04/11/2021 18:12

The weekend nearest to the 12th night, so this year it'll likely be the 11th of Dec. And down about the 3rd or 4th of Jan.

Might be different this year as I'm due our 2nd child on the 1st of Jan!!

Joystir59 · 04/11/2021 18:12

Tree comes down before new year as I get depressed if they stay up any longer than that

Hohoholymoley · 04/11/2021 18:12

End of November usually the night before the toy show.

whosaidtha · 04/11/2021 18:13

First Sunday of advent.

TurnUpTurnip · 04/11/2021 18:14

2 houses near me already have theirs up

Mantlemoose · 04/11/2021 18:16

This year it will be 18th/19th and back down 3rd/4th. If my tree could go anywhere else except in front of the bay window I would probably go earlier and later but it blocks out so much light in living room that starts to stress.me out!

Hayup · 04/11/2021 18:16

Ours will be going up on 28th November, and I'll take them down on the day school goes back.

I'm tempted to start with some Christmas Lights outside this weekend once I've done some gardening.

I spotted one on the school run today...all I could think about was their electric bill! Fairylighttastic! Shock
Libertaire · 04/11/2021 18:17

Never.

latedecember1963 · 04/11/2021 18:17

In mid December, with The Partridge Family Christmas album blasting out of the CD player.

FuzzyPenguin · 04/11/2021 18:19

Up the last weekend of November, although we have a few bits up already mostly new decs I have bought and can’t be bothered to put in the loft for a few weeks. Down the first Wednesday the kids are back at school as I am off and I like to have a good clean at the same time. I do leave up a few winter lights till about feb.

NeedWineNow · 04/11/2021 18:19

Usually second weekend in December and stay up until 6 6Jan.

AuntieStella · 04/11/2021 18:21

After a family birthday in December, and usually after the DC have broken up. They stay up until 6th Jan

Each to their own, but I do think that before Advent Sunday is too soon, and also that cutting short the festivities before Twelfth Night is curmudgeonly

Capricornandproud · 04/11/2021 18:22

Me and DS will be doing ours on the 20th because I have a wedding the following weekend and I’m taking him to London for a treat on the first weekend Dec. But I cant stick them too much longer after xmas and get stuck into a spring clean before new year while taking them down!!

Threewheeler1 · 04/11/2021 18:25

I with you! I want to start early this year cos it's been so pants lately. I usually put stuff up early December but this year feels different so I'm going for it Grin
