My God is this woman bloody tone deaf, stupid or such a narcissist that she really doesn’t care? Posting pics on Instagram of her and Alec dressed up for Halloween with their kids, with a little sob story about how “parenting through this has been intense.”
By all means let your kids celebrate Halloween but have some bloody sensitivity and awareness! Posting on social media, for the world to see, just days after your husband shot and killed a woman; a wife and mother.
Halyna’s son won’t be celebrating Halloween.

You simply can’t put yourself out there to that level though and not expect comments, good and bad.

ManifestingWisdom no, it is more that Americans, and that includes Hilaria/Hillary link Spanish speaking people with those who are 'non-white' and therefore marginalised - they are all classed as 'Latino'. Therefore she knew what she was doing, particularly with her 'being mistaken for the nanny' shtick. I believe that Antonio Banderas was surprised when he was classed as Latino by US immigration and therefore a 'person of colour' as he didn't consider himself as such. This is a very sensitive issue and I don't think we can dismiss the uncomfortable ramifications of her 'harmless' persona, just as we cannot dismiss the uncomfortable ramifications of men identifying as women on women's rights (don't worry MN, this will be my only comment on this subject on this thread!)

@Tagcurious I think you need to look up what trolling is because this thread definitely isn’t it. I set it up to express my disgust at a person (could easily have been Alec but he didn’t post it to his social media account!) who could be so tone deaf and self absorbed

She doesn't seem to be bothered by any type of criticism though, image being found out you're putting an acccent on and not crawling under a rock with embarrassment.

How did the thread descend into this. Everyone pretty much agrees they'd have been better off not bringing more undue attention to themselves by way of ad hoc press talks and instagram posts

@wallowmall I’m not on Instagram. I don’t follow her. I wasn’t aware of her until the Spanish thing and then this awful incident. So not a fan, as such. Just not a fan of this shit.

But I wouldn’t choose to be part of that negativity.

It's not negativity to criticise someone for acting like this. I don't understand the logic that its ok to be self obsessed or tone deaf but not to label someone as such 🤔

Exactly. And she took other Spanish and Latino people’s places in awards shortlists, etc. When she knew she wasn’t eligible because she’s about as Latina or Spanish as the socks I’m wearing.

That goes beyond ‘harmless eccentric just trying to live her life on the ‘gram, why can’t you ‘Be Kind’?’ She’s stolen accolades from women and Spanish/Latino people who legitimately deserved them. It’s fraud.

I think it’s important to point out how self absorbed the social media thing really is, or how will our children know as they’ve grown up with it. We need to point out how ridiculous the narcissism really is in some cases
