As a child it was the cybermen, I think because they looked sort of human, as an adult it's those bloody weeping angels, looks like they are making a reappearance in this series

The Wirrn was the big insect thing from The Ark In Space. I recall green-painted bubblewrap in that story too!

Hummmph · 01/11/2021 18:15

For me it's the infected water people on Mars. Creeps me out every time I see that episode.

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 01/11/2021 18:35

As a kid for me it was Daleks. As I am now older it's those Angels and the Cybermen

@angelopal

The one I found creepy was the one with kids with the gas masks asking are you my mummy.
Yep, me too!
romany4 · 01/11/2021 19:41

I didn't like David Tennant episodes
Midnight
The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit.

I still avoid those episodes completely.
Just horrible and creepy

Oldandcobwebby · 01/11/2021 19:58

I was born a couple of months prior to the start of Doctor Who, so I've had plenty of chances to be scared. My personal "worst" were the Ice Warriors (that gaspy speech...) and the Mondasian Cybermen, with their cloth faces. It was wonderful to see them return with the fabulous Peter Capaldi.

WhoWants2Know · 01/11/2021 20:44

I forgot the Satan Pit and the vashtanarada. Those were creepy.

And in the one where they were all riding on the back of a star whale that they were torturing to keep moving, there were those creepy puppets whose faces would rotate to increasingly angry expressions.

Ivyr0se · 01/11/2021 20:50

I only watched doctor who as an adult so I missed a lot of the jumpy scary ones but omg Listen where its is there some one under your bed freaks me out. The whole episode really frightens me.

RockinHorseShit · 01/11/2021 20:54

None of the Dr Who monsters & I loved the Darleks & wanted to be one as a kid Blush

But the Sapphire & Steel monster who was man in a smart black suit, with no lower facial features. That one gave me gave me nightmares 😩

DoesHePlayTheFiddle · 01/11/2021 20:56

Daleks the first time round.
And the weeping angels.

LadyofMisrule · 01/11/2021 20:57

The cybermats. When I was small I always slept with the blankets gripped around my neck so that if the cybermats tried to attack me, they would just get a mouthful of wool. I finally broke that habit by the age of about 35...

LadyofMisrule · 01/11/2021 20:58

(More recently the weeping angels, and the small children with gas masks, but I suspect their impact won't be as long-lasting)

AliceMcK · 01/11/2021 20:59

As a child the Daleks, Dr Who wasn’t Dr Who if it wasn’t watched from behind the couch with screeches of exterrrminate!

But now, the creepy dolls from night terrors, I hate dolls anyway but eeekkkk no!

Also not a fan of the rubber clone things

AliceMcK · 01/11/2021 21:00

@Hummmph

For me it's the infected water people on Mars. Creeps me out every time I see that episode.
O yes, I hated that, only ever watched it once.
CathyorClaire · 01/11/2021 21:04

The original cybermen

Autons

Sea Devils. I didn't paddle for years after they rose from the deep. Finally got over them and along came Jaws Grin

hedgehogger1 · 01/11/2021 21:21

@Gladioli23

The weeping angels and I remember being properly freaked out by the vashta nerada from the library episodes.
Yes both of these. That library episode freaked me out.
Romemarie · 01/11/2021 21:37

The weeping angels definitely..

The cutest is the adipose.. I literally fell in love with them lumps of fat lol

woodhill · 01/11/2021 21:41

The old zoltarens were scary, much more menacing.

Original Davros

Weeping Angels and that scarecrow in the .David Tenant episode where he became human

woodhill · 01/11/2021 21:43

Talons of win chan was pretty terrifying- Tom Baker

Seeds of Doom

EmmaGrundyForPM · 01/11/2021 21:44

Another vote for the giant maggots in some Welsh quarry I think. Also, people's skin being turned into green jelly (our TV was b/w so not sure how I knew they were green). Not sure if the jelly was part of the maggots storyline or a separate one.

As a parent, the Weeping Angels were the scariest but the child with the gas mask was the most disturbing.
