Sorting myself out before Xmas

TheQuest · 29/10/2021 12:37

Right, I’ve given myself a deadline of Xmas to sort myself out and declutter my house.
I’m going to lose a stone in weight by dropping sugar and grains.
Get myself out walking and do some 10 minute weights workouts.
Moisturising
Collagen supplements. I don’t know if they work but lots of good reviews for skin, hair and nails. I’m willing to try for the next 6 weeks.
Weekly face mask
Hair masks every couple of weeks

As for my house, I’m going to declutter all my shelves and cupboards room by room and buy some nice plants, candles and decorative items to cheer the place up and make it a bit more homely.

I’m grateful for any ideas as I’m shit at homely stuff.
Welcome to join me if you fancy doing similar Smile

Been following all of you a bit. I did pay attention to my diet for some time, but today I basically ate everything I saw. :-( Hope tomorrow will be better again.

I did manage to organize most of the presents over the weekend and we coordinated schedules for Sint Nicolaas (Santa in the Netherlands, celebrated on December 5 and before) with our families.

CrikeyPeg · 16/11/2021 03:41

Oooh, great idea Quest. I'm late to the party but in too! I actually started last Monday without realising when I didn't have my usual Whittakers Sante bar with my morning cup of tea; a giant step for me and, incredibly, no chocolate since.

Standing pressups, lunges most times I walk up and down the hallway, on either the treadmill or exercise bike most days, and watching what else I eat in an effort to move about 4kg that snuck in over this year. However, I'll still be sipping on my wine, although only one glass on the nights I do have a drink, and back on the still on account of the bubbles seeming to pack the chub on.

I'll check in to see how everyone else is going and (hopefully) have positive updates of my own Grin

spottygymbag · 16/11/2021 07:29

Exciting breakthrough. I have packaged and sent off the xmas presents and cards to the family and in-laws. It takes about 3ish weeks so should arrive early December. Best part is I'm no longer shifting the presents around and keeping them away from tiny sticky fingers. Things feel much less cluttered (even though the presents are mostly small and it's mainly cards).

TheQuest · 16/11/2021 11:15

Good work @spottygymbag

I had a blip late last week due to a meal with ils. I don’t know why it takes one flipping meal to throw me straight off track then I find it hard to get back to my healthy eating.
I managed to crawl back into the wagon yesterday and am still going strong today.
I’ve started taking some iron so I’m hoping that will kick me out of the lethargic fog I’ve been in recently too.
Onwards and upwards.

Well done Brendabulldog !!
I am on it ! Started transform 20 yesterday ( Beachbody ) .

I have told my close friends and family about my plan … they are all wanting to eat better too ! Having verbalised my plan will definitely keep me on track .

Busy day at work so workout is planned for tonight .

Good luck everyone this week ! 💋💋💋

My goal for the rest of the week is drawers. DH has an unhealthy obsession with drawers. When we moved out of our first place together there were, no joke, 5 small filing cabinets in the garage mostly empty of files but the drawers 😱 I have managed to keep this somewhat in check but noticed lately the drawers he does have are now full to the brim with "important things". I have no doubt they are important but he needs to actually be able to find things. So we will be decluttering one drawer each evening. We think he probably has adhd (awaiting appointment for confirmation) so struggles to do something like this alone. I might need extra wine for patience though.

ImFree2doasiwant · 16/11/2021 20:55

Well done on the posting @spottygymbag. My goal this week is also drawers, kitchen drawers of doom to be precise!

spottygymbag · 16/11/2021 21:09

@ImFree2doasiwant I swear I close a freshly organised drawer and every item inside multiplies itself instantly. Good luck with them!

mowly77 · 16/11/2021 21:20

I'm in, albeit late. I desperately need a haircut. I'm knocking the majority of booze and refined sugar on the head until Christmas. And my house is doing my head in so much I'm tempted to hire a skip and sling the lot in there. Guilt about the environment/charity shops etc means I shall not however do this but instead do it the hard way, drawer by sodding drawer, cupboard by dreaded cupboard ... I actually took a load of dead batteries to the recycling thing at the supermarket at the weekend & was v v proud. I did have 2 pints on the way though ... so swings & roundabouts.

@spottygymbag I have to ask - butt masks???

mowly77 · 16/11/2021 21:29

ah read the whole thread & will be purchasing some butt masks. They will make great presents if nothing else.

I've got collagen powder. Time to start making smoothies and actually taking it. That's my one small goal for tomorrow. That and maybe declutter one drawer. I think that's do-able.

MynameisWa · 16/11/2021 21:33

Smug face here: I have just finished a three week declutter and decorate and my house looks great!

I made £509 on eBay.

I have been on a ‘regime’ for the last few weeks and have lost 1.5 inches off my waist cutting out sugar and booze, walking and resistant training.

Do it. It’s SO worth it. I’m now full on prepping for Xmas: outfits, shopping etc feeling on top of life.

Go go go!

ImFree2doasiwant · 16/11/2021 21:48

@spottygymbag I sorted out the "kitchen side/pile" on Sunday so you can imagine what the drawers are like now.

I've had a great day foodwise again, quite pleased with myself on that front.

@mowly77 ah I the same I'm really skint too so trying to declutter, sell for money ,or charity shop/rehome as much as possible. I was I had more money/less conscience so I could dump the lot.

Suffolkjuggler · 16/11/2021 22:08

Well done ….. thanks for sharing positive achievements xx

spottygymbag · 16/11/2021 22:42

@mowly77 yes to the butt masks. We're coming into summer here and it goes from cold and rainy to 30C overnight so it's a quick way to hydrate the winter skin before hitting the beach with the dc. I'm not very good at regular moisturising so this helps. I do face masks (when I remember) so it doesn't feel that different?

DaisyNGO · 18/11/2021 17:42

So...please imagine I'm the Dowager Countess

W-what is a butt mask?

spottygymbag · 22/11/2021 04:54

@DaisyNGO I read that in her voice!
It's just like a face mask except it's for your butt cheeks. Different varieties available- sheet, roll on etc...
No big projects here but I have been walking around with a rubbish bag collecting the plastic junk toys and broken toys the dc somehow seem to collect. One toy basket is now empty.
How is everyone else getting on?

jamandmarmalade21 · 22/11/2021 05:26

i cleared the kitchen table of everything including the sheet sander and wood preserver and extension lead. Hmm

I can see the placemats.....

mowly77 · 22/11/2021 05:34

Planted some bulbs on the allotment - yay but the entire thing needs weeding now so that’s another thing on my to do list. I’ve lost heart a bit as splitting up with partner. Complicated. He has aspergers. We have a three year old. I don’t know if this will make decluttering easier or harder! He’s not moving out straight away (hmm shame he’s a messy bugger). So we’ll see. I’ve done no self care unless you count thinking “fuck it” and drinking the Christmas booze.

jamandmarmalade21 · 22/11/2021 05:43

i've done no self care either except for a brisk walk and low carb intentions but devoured the big box of Christmas dates

Monsoon92 · 22/11/2021 08:50

I've managed to keep track of my water intake for the last 2 weeks - mostly hit my target with the exception of a few days. Got a huel delivery so been having that a couple of times a week, so feeling healthier on those days! Also started Couch25k and completed the first week, so feel absolutely exhausted but good! I keep checking my belly to see if it's gone down, but it doesn't quite work like that!

ImFree2doasiwant · 22/11/2021 09:55

I had 4 excellent days with food and water, and 3 variable last week. Still, I got weighed this morning and am 5lbs down so I will take that.

No real progress on the declutter at the weekend but did a LOTof tidying and general housework. I did do some smaller bits around the house too.

It's very overwhelming, I have so much to do. Next weekend, cupboard under the stairs.

Last weeks midweek project was the 2 kitchen drawers but I failed in that so rolling them over to this week

CrikeyPeg · 22/11/2021 18:18

I had an indulgent weekend booze wise but still no chocolate. I also had two days without exercising, although one of those was my vacuum the house day, which is a major workout in itself, and I don't tend to do 'real' exercise on the day I vacuum so I guess really only one day without. Still, it was back on the treadmill yesterday.

spottygymbag · 22/11/2021 19:40

@mowly77 ThanksWine Hang in there! Sometimes wine is a perfectly legitimate answer. The bulbs sound wonderful. We have no garden or allotment (courtyard of townhouse only) but I need to sort out the raised tree/garden bed. It has collected chalk which has now melted into bright coloured globs in the rain.
We have friends coming for dinner this weekend which I'm hoping will spur me on. First guests since restrictions earlier this year. Thankfully they are very chilled out, non judgemental and easy going.
