Sorting myself out before Xmas

TheQuest · 29/10/2021 12:37

Right, I’ve given myself a deadline of Xmas to sort myself out and declutter my house.
I’m going to lose a stone in weight by dropping sugar and grains.
Get myself out walking and do some 10 minute weights workouts.
Moisturising
Collagen supplements. I don’t know if they work but lots of good reviews for skin, hair and nails. I’m willing to try for the next 6 weeks.
Weekly face mask
Hair masks every couple of weeks

As for my house, I’m going to declutter all my shelves and cupboards room by room and buy some nice plants, candles and decorative items to cheer the place up and make it a bit more homely.

I’m grateful for any ideas as I’m shit at homely stuff.
Welcome to join me if you fancy doing similar Smile

@spottygymbag

I love this. I always get to Christmas Day and feel completely overwhelmed, exhausted and haggard. This morning I have made a list and booked in/ordered the following: Haircut for November and then a trim week before Christmas Ordered foot peel mask Booked a household junk pick up for next weekend to finally get rid of the outgrown and broken clutter Cleaner for deep clean the weekend before Christmas Hair, face and butt masks for at home Eyebrow tidy DH has been delegated the garage clean up (99% his stuff)

We've been doing a wellness Olympics through work which has been great for setting good habits around mindfulness, eating, and movement. Just been through a really stressful patch at work and was surprised at how much of a difference it made to my ability to cope so will be keeping that up too.

Hair, face and butt masks for at home

Is a butt mask a thing?

Libelula21 · 05/11/2021 22:24

I’m in!

StarryNightSparkles · 05/11/2021 22:47

Sorry have to ask.. what's a butt mask 😂

coodawoodashooda · 05/11/2021 22:55

Im in. Don't know where to start though

spottygymbag · 06/11/2021 20:04

@NoSquirrels yes they're a thing, started as a lockdown "wtf is this" purchase and have now become a bit of a joke amongst friends. Although for a winterised butt that needs to transition to the beach they're good at reviving the skin. And they give me 15mins undisturbed downtime from the family.

spottygymbag · 06/11/2021 20:11

On the decluttering side of things, today I will be sorting out the top kitchen drawer that catches all the junk. Amongst other things it is currently housing a screwdriver set, shoe polish and bug spray. All of these things have homes, none of which are the kitchen drawer. It's actually a struggle to open and close it because of the sheer amount of things jammed in there.

coodawoodashooda · 06/11/2021 23:29

@MrsHookey

I like to buy nice stuff for after Xmas when things feel grim and the house looks drab!
What kind of thing do you buy?
Waitinginthewings · 07/11/2021 08:57

Hi, What a great thread. Can I join? My house is a mess, I'm very sleep deprived, I don't drink enough and eat badly. I'm going to try and change things before Christmas.

TheQuest · 07/11/2021 09:06

I thought butt mask was an autocorrect for foot mask Grin never heard of them.
I’m working at everything but veeeeerrrrryyyy slowly. Need a kick up my unmasked butt.

I'll join! I'll have a read through later on. Sunday I my child free day so have plans to start today with the house. Seriously lacking in self care too!

coodawoodashooda · 07/11/2021 09:11

Ive done tons of decluttering over the last few years and it has really made a difference to how much easier the house is to manage. I meed to keep this in mind on focus on the garage because keeping that in order would be a game changer. I need to focus on me now.

ImFree2doasiwant · 07/11/2021 10:29

Last January I started decluttering, and dud a good few months of getting rid of 10 items a day. I have stopped tracking this but am going to start again now. It made a huge difference. I started by just scanning a room fir stuff that could go in the bin/recycle/charity/sell. It also helped get things put back in their correct place.

General plan is to have a few things I want to achieve each week. Then daily things like drink 3litres water, eat healthily, do my skincare am and pm. Bed by 11! Stop scrolling bloody facebook/YouTube.

Today I will put the Halloween stuff away
Fill the "bags 2 schoolbag with clothes.
Pull out the charity/sell pile and sort - put the charity pile in the car to go.

ImFree2doasiwant · 07/11/2021 11:00

I'm also going to declutter the car, it's like a pigsty.

doubleshotcappuccino · 07/11/2021 16:20

@TheQuest I did a similar fast today too . Exercise most days but the weight has crept up in the last ten months .. was kidding myself the jeans still fit but not sure the muffin top was there before ! Anyway - the only way is down with clean eating and only a couple of drinks at the weekend

MadMadMadamMim · 07/11/2021 16:24

I'd like to join in. I've no motivation at all - but hopefully reading your stories will inspire me.

I could do with kickstarting some kind of healthy living plan.

ImFree2doasiwant · 07/11/2021 17:45

My day hasn't gone quite to plan, when everything is in such a mess its easy to get sidetracked. Still, I have got a lot done, just not all of the things I'd planned.

Bag 2 school filled. Kids clothes pile sorted into bag 2 school and selling bundles. Clothes I've been given put away in the "to grow into" draw. Halloween stuff taken down but not put away as yet. Didn't get to the car.

I've been at it all day though and bedrooms and dining room look better for it . Also been for a walk and had lots of water.

Parkmama · 07/11/2021 17:50

I'm also trying to get myself together ahead of Christmas, exercise, diet, clutter and organisation. I'm going to attempt getting up earlier in the morning (usually up by 7am, going to attempt 6am) to try and get some things done when the rest of the house is sleeping. This will mean going to bed earlier which I hope will help with lazing on the sofa drinking wine and eating chocolate until far too late!

LostaraYil · 07/11/2021 18:43

Well done to everyone who has made a start! I'm going to follow the thread, I also need to sort myself and my house out. ILs are coming to us for Christmas and I need to have it tidy and I have been letting my diet slip recently and need to get back on track. The plan is to set a timer for 30 min a day and do something useful like decluttering instead of scrolling on my phone. Also stick to lowish carb and do 1 24h fast a week. Today has been ok, I spent a couple of hours tidying the garden.

Yummymummy2020 · 07/11/2021 18:45

Definitely in, need to declutter and lose a lot of baby weight!!!

Pacidove · 07/11/2021 18:57

My plan for November is to sell or donate all of the clothes and toys etc DS has outgrown. So far have listed some of the bigger items (bassinet and bouncer) but need to sort out the chest of drawers full of clothes and go through his toys.

We will be moving at the start of next year so want to take as little as possible with us

sociallydistained · 07/11/2021 18:58

Inspiring thread and a good idea ready to go into December. I am 6.5 months pregnant and my diet is shocking at times. Exercise is good and I’ve had a massive declutter recently. I want to feel good going into December and to prepare for the birth of my baby. I upped the walking last week and felt much better for it. I need to knock the habit of buying crap (chocolate particularly … and a chinese tonight!)

PigeonPigPie · 07/11/2021 19:12

5 months pregnant here, really need to get my life back together after a horrendous first trimester!

  • declutter the 'dumping cupboard'
  • donate anything we don't need or use
  • deep clean whole house
  • evening skincare
  • 3L fluid everyday
  • start some kind of yoga/pilates/stretching to compliment physio
  • eat homemade 90% of the time
  • read every day instead of scrolling!
MilkywayMonarch22 · 07/11/2021 19:14

What hair masks will you do?

I've joined the low carb thread to try lose a stone before Xmas, but will definitely not be doing hardcore low carb as lifestyle just won't allow for it ( a lot of allergies between me and DD and it would end up too restrictive and too meat based when we've all cut meat right down).

I'll also join on this as I need to heal my skin and I know a good diet will do this but also weight loss and looking after myself, better sleep when DD allows and good moisturising (eczema)

X

@PigeonPigPie I feel you. First trimester was horrific. Everybody asks me how I’m doing now and I’m like I am fine now but first trimester ruined me. I was very fit and lost it all in first tri (or so it felt) I feel like I’m back to it now after slowly building back up through second trimester, now I’m in the third and feel better than ever tbh but I am aware I’ve gained a lot of pregnancy weight through my eating and it is hard! I want to stay motivated.

Glad I'm not alone! I'm still suffering with sickness now but actually able to move around and eat well. It's hard when you feel you've lost your fitness and body is totally different but I really don't want to wait until postpartum to start trying to get on top of things again!
