Sorting myself out before Xmas

TheQuest · 29/10/2021 12:37

Right, I’ve given myself a deadline of Xmas to sort myself out and declutter my house.
I’m going to lose a stone in weight by dropping sugar and grains.
Get myself out walking and do some 10 minute weights workouts.
Moisturising
Collagen supplements. I don’t know if they work but lots of good reviews for skin, hair and nails. I’m willing to try for the next 6 weeks.
Weekly face mask
Hair masks every couple of weeks

As for my house, I’m going to declutter all my shelves and cupboards room by room and buy some nice plants, candles and decorative items to cheer the place up and make it a bit more homely.

I’m grateful for any ideas as I’m shit at homely stuff.
Welcome to join me if you fancy doing similar Smile

Bless you. I luckily didn’t suffer nausea much after first 12 weeks and I feel generally okay now but today for example after a week of actual energy I feel awful! This seems to be the pattern 🤦🏻‍♀️
I am nervous about postpartum recovery and like you want to make it easier for myself (if possible!) now!

PeriChristmas · 07/11/2021 20:09

Love this op. I'll join you!

ImFree2doasiwant · 11/11/2021 08:11

How's everyone getting on? This week I've been focusing on keeping on top of the day to day stuff before and after work, rather than letting it build up . So the hopefully I should have more time to concentrate on the declutter and bigger jobs on Sunday.
.
I have upped my water intake quite a lot, and am doing my proper skincare routine at least once a day often twice. I'm sleeping better abd spending less time on my phone

Long way to go though and that is a bit demotivating.

spottygymbag · 11/11/2021 08:51

I have installed extra coat hooks by the front door. We never seem to have enough even though there are only four of us.
Finally the school bags, hats, helmets, jackets, swim bags and umbrellas are ALL off the floor. And the littlest one (not quite two) marched in the door and hung his jacket straight on a hook! (One set of hooks is at kids height) Winning all round. It's a little thing but it makes such a difference when getting in or out of the house with all the bits and pieces.

Suffolkjuggler · 11/11/2021 08:58

I am in ladies !
New to this forum …… it’s like you read my mind .
6 week overhaul ….. let’s do this !

ImFree2doasiwant · 11/11/2021 09:10

@spottygymbag I have NO HOOKS. I want one of this hall stand things it would make SUCH a difference

MrsDeaconClaybourne · 11/11/2021 09:23

Have only just found this thread but am in! I've started doing lots of sorting and decluttering. Had a head start as had CV in November and was well enough in the last few days of isolation to start tackling the house. However, 10 days isolation + an injury from falling over at the start of Sept means I've put on most of the lockdown weight I lost in Spring.

In theory, I've downsized my role at work to be relatively stress free and PT but I've been doing lots of extra which is useful in terms of money for Christmas but not for me getting there not completely frazzled!

MilkywayMonarch22 · 11/11/2021 09:26

I've been trying to stick to 13-16 hour fasts and eating less snacky junk. My aim is to get to 11s 12 by Xmas and I'm 12s4 now.

It is doable but only if I don't let myself get derailed.

Trying to sort things out slowly but surely. Got the new blind up in baby's room which looks so much better, and DH is going to deep clean the conservatory and declutter tonight

Too tired to keep up to skin routine but I have good skin generally and tbh it could only be improved by weight loss and diet overhaul so that's what I'm focusing on.

MilkywayMonarch22 · 11/11/2021 09:28

Also, I WFH and drive DD to nursery so I get VERY few steps so to alleviate I've been trying to March on the spot during meetings where my camera isn't on, and have bought a fold away standing desk

sociallydistained · 11/11/2021 09:40

Doing well with my daily steps and exercise since last week (and despite a migraine lasting 3 days). Diet is still a problem that needs working on right now!

TheQuest · 11/11/2021 09:50

Great to see everyone’s progress.
I’m doing 20hr fasts a few times a week and it’s making a difference.
My skin care routine is going well.
I still need to put more effort into clearing stuff out. I’m planning on clearing as much of the bookshelves as I can by this weekend.

Perhaps do this in January? The run up to Christmas is quite stressful in itself.

Rooroobear · 11/11/2021 09:53

Keep at it op. Every little step is a fantastic motivation to make bigger steps. You will feel great in yourself which will encourage you to do more. Keep going x

jpbee · 11/11/2021 10:14

@TheQuest Which collagen supplement are you taking? I originally took a cheap tablet one from Holland&Barrett but then did a lot of research and found that it didn't contain enough collagen to make any real difference. So I switched to a powder one (I get the LQ one but there are a few out there). I go through a tub per month and they are £30 each but I buy them when they are on a 3 for 2 offer at Boots so technically the third month is free.

TheQuest · 11/11/2021 10:42

@jpbee I’m taking collagen complex but Hey Nutrition. It’s marine based and has really good reviews. I can’t rate it yet as I’ve only recently started it and kept forgetting some days.
They do a deal of 3 bottles of 60 capsules each for £60. Hope they work!!

TheQuest · 11/11/2021 10:43

Sorry £80 not £60

Has anyone got an actual plan? I try to do TOMM for housework, just thinking of writing down daily goals fir things around the house, large or small. Or just a general list of things to achieve this month.

ImFree2doasiwant · 14/11/2021 10:09

The DC have gone so I'm having a quick cuppa, then will crack on. I failed last week with my list but still got a lot done. This week I definitely need to put the Halloween stuff away - easier said than done, the large cupboard it goes in really needs a proper sort out . I will also muck the car out and sort the pile on the kitchen side.

Really want to list stuff for sale but the camera on my phone has given up

radiohelen · 14/11/2021 10:29

I need to do this too!! Late joiner due to family crisis but I've been sort of doing better. Big charity load last weekend and smoothie brekkie been happening for 2 weeks.
Got to prep for work today but also planning mini declutter.

ImFree2doasiwant · 14/11/2021 18:16

I've done pretty well today, I didn't think I had but then realised I've done all but 1 thing on my list. Slow progress though, but better than no progress!

BrendaBulldog · 14/11/2021 19:48

I'm in too, OP.
I'm having a glass (or 4) of wine tonight and getting my arse into gear tomorrow.

I tried intermittent fasting but it didn't seem to make any difference for me. I wasn't doing 20hrs though - I was doing 16. Would 20hrs make a difference?

Impatientwino · 14/11/2021 22:41

I'm in, this sounds like a good thread for me. I need to lose some weight and cut down on the wine.

Like a PP I want to shift 4-6 pounds by Christmas - trying to keep first target small. I already do a fair bit of fasting but more and more carbs have crept back in.

I had successfully cut out bread and pasta and was a stone less than now before lockdown but my mum died right at the start and that has absolutely knocked me for six.

So having allowed myself a fair amount of time to let myself go a bit and focus on just getting through the day with carbs and wine I now feel it's time to change to a focus on self care.

My skin is awful, my clothes are tight and my fitness needs a shake up. Baths, masks and early nights definitely on the agenda and I have arranged with a neighbour to start running again together so looking forward to that!

Scared to Google butt mask but very intrigued Grin

ImFree2doasiwant · 15/11/2021 07:57

I've just got weighed. Put on over a stone of the 3 I'd lost since Jan 2021. Starting a 10 day kick start today. Bit unplanned so not sure how it'll go (I'd normally plan all meals snacks etc). I want most of this stone gone by Christmas.

BrendaBulldog · 15/11/2021 19:18

How is everyone getting on?
I've managed to stay off the wine Grin

I gave the kitchen a deep clean, and put a load of washing on before I got the chance to sit down after work. I've also restarted couch 2 5k and did Week 1, Run 1 (again!) tonight.

I'm bloody knackered after an early start at work this morning but if I let myself sit down, I wouldn't get up again Grin

ImFree2doasiwant · 15/11/2021 21:26

Sounds like a productive day @BrendaBulldog.

Day 1 of my kick-start has gone really well, stuck to my eating plan. Working a second job today cleaning, so active all day too. Not much in the way of decluttering but really not had the time today.
