Nicest jam

Over the years I have spent a fortune on jams . I have an obsession with trying ever flavour I see . I can’t visit a fair , garden centre, farmers’ market without buying some ! I even have a jar of melon jam and a jar of apple and cinnamon .
At the moment I love plain and simple blackcurrant jam , mainly on scones and crumpets .
So , what’s your favourite jam ? Are different jams better on different things ?

I don’t eat it often these days, but like Amy posters, I think you can’t beat a good home-made jam. Think my faves are gooseberry, blackcurrant, and loganberry!

Littlebelina · 23/10/2021 21:34

Damson damson damson (maybe raspberry) damson

HanSB · 23/10/2021 21:39

Christine Ferber jams and London Borough of Jam - not your typical jams!

I love home made rhubarb or plum. Also apricot.

I do love Bonne Maman ones too.

I don’t think I eat enough jam …!

MenaiMna · 23/10/2021 22:13

Sainsbury's TTD hedgerow conserve is zingy like blackcurrant but softer somehow
Rose's Lime marmalade is the only marmalade for me.
Lots of other great suggestions from pp I'm going to note and try!

Bobsyer · 23/10/2021 22:21

I like raspberry, blackcurrant, blackberry or mixed berries. Don’t like strawberry.

My current favourite however is apple and blackberry from Asda.

colourmebladd · 23/10/2021 22:30

Bonne Maman plum or dark cherry

Tipton ginger preserve for toast is amazing.
Cheap as chips mixed fruit jam is fab in porridge.
Bonne Maman raspberry is gorgeous.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 23/10/2021 22:42

Blackcurrant. I find most others too sickly sweet.

rrhuth · 23/10/2021 22:44

Luckily my DH has got quite into making jam, the best so far are raspberry, strawberry & lemon, and fig.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 23/10/2021 22:44

WarmAndFluff · 23/10/2021 23:19

Another vote for Mirabelle plum jam.

Also my Mum's homemade ones, made with strange concoctions of whatever fruit she has, usually along with a slug of something alcoholic Grin - orange, pineapple and cognac jam anyone?

ablutiions · 23/10/2021 23:40

Tiptree raspberry is lovely, as is their black currant jelly.

Branleuse · 23/10/2021 23:41

Ald blackcurrant conserve. Its just perfect

ThiagoSilvasToe · 23/10/2021 23:47

Blackberry jalapeno

Nonbio46 · 24/10/2021 00:03

Sainsbury’s Hedgerow Conserve is my favourite at the minute.

burblish · 24/10/2021 03:30

All the St Dalfour jams I’ve tried are wonderful - DC are currently obsessed with the raspberry & pomegranate one. Pricey, but just so nice. Bonne Maman berries & cherries is lovely, too. Someone gave me a present once of a most unusual and delicious (although a bit too sweet) tea jam that they bought at a very fancy shop in Paris. Home made rose petal jam is extraordinary if the fragrance is very heady. Best on toast, though, is bitter Seville orange marmalade - heaven!

Undertheoldlindentree · 24/10/2021 03:57

I love most home-made jam and market-stall jam. Best flavours, mirabelle plum, rhubarb and ginger, blackcurrant (mouthwatering with proper butter). From supermarkets, I really like the whole Mackays range. Not expensive, great flavours and even like that the jars are quite small, so can change flavors without having too many open at once.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 24/10/2021 04:11

Bonne Maman Wild Blueberry jam is my absolute favourite, I love the other flavours too.

Not jam but I also have to mention that a few years back Tesco had an out-of-this-world delicious orange curd.
There are no proper words to describe how absolutely beautiful it was.
It disappeared after a while so now I make my own curds, which are pretty good: I've tried orange, raspberry, salted caramel fruit crumble, lemon flavours.

FrankGrillosFloof · 24/10/2021 04:19

If we’re talking shop bought, Bonne Maman Intense - the one with more fruit, less sugar.

really? I bought a jar of that (strawberry I think) and it was revolting. Even the colour & textured looked like someone puked up a bit of anaemic paté. I ended up mixing it with other jams to use it up. Never again.

We’ve got a 2nd hand Panasonic bread maker and ever since been regularly making jam in it. Plum, gooseberry, blackberry so far. I love the ease of it as you tip in fruit , sugar and pectin and it beeps at you to say ready so no longer any need for timings or too-runny jam.
My favourite is strawberry but seems expensive to buy enough to make jam as one punnet £4.50 to pick in our local farm shop , I probably should mind you as sure would make a couple of jars at least.

I love serving homemade jam in a little bowl at breakfast as reminds me of amazing French hotels and fresh baguette
