Nicest jam

Over the years I have spent a fortune on jams . I have an obsession with trying ever flavour I see . I can’t visit a fair , garden centre, farmers’ market without buying some ! I even have a jar of melon jam and a jar of apple and cinnamon .
At the moment I love plain and simple blackcurrant jam , mainly on scones and crumpets .
So , what’s your favourite jam ? Are different jams better on different things ?

Home made plum, with big chunks of fruit.
Greengage
Raspberry

All not made too sweet.

Growing up, Brian Ford's supermarket used to sell Czechoslovacian jams, they were proper tasty. A Czech friend said that growing up you couldn't buy jam, they were all exported. She makes her won jams, and so do I, but her blackcurrant jam wins hands down.

Damson
Gooseberry

I like rhubarb and elderflower - its an early summer jam. My first jam of the jamming season. I tie the elderflowers in a muslin sack and steep them in with the washed/ chopped rhubarb sugar and lemon juice for 24 hours. Before even turning the cooker on. The smell is fantastic.

Blackcurrent jam is definately a favourite. Also Lidle's apricot compot is out of this world...so delicious it makes me eat toast when i rarely eat bread!

Samanabanana · 23/10/2021 18:24

Chatsworth cherry brandy jam, it's incredible

JKDinomum · 23/10/2021 18:24

I've never tasted anything better than my own homemade loganberry jam. You don't seem to be able to buy loganberry anywhere in regular shops but if you see it at a craft fair etc I highly recommend. It's like raspberry but tarter.

Blackmagicqueen · 23/10/2021 18:24

The lidle one is called Maribel Apricot Conserve

weegiemum · 23/10/2021 18:26

The only jam I like is Bonne Maman strawberry. And I also like my MILs crab apple jelly.

Blackmagicqueen · 23/10/2021 18:28

Ikea do a lingonberry jam that is lovely with a roast dinner as a change from cranberry sauce.

RedRec · 23/10/2021 18:34

Bonne Maman raspberry.

DartmoorChef · 23/10/2021 18:35

We have a 3 fruit one at work, grapefruit, lime and orange. It's amazing.

SendARavenToRiverRun · 23/10/2021 18:36

Aldi sour cherry one is amazing.

Keladrythesaviour · 23/10/2021 18:51

Damson or bramble. Homemade! I only made three jars of damson this year and we've finished 2 of them already Sad

DroopyClematis · 23/10/2021 20:56

Bilberry jam from the Polish shop.

BeyondMyWits · 23/10/2021 21:03

My neighbour brought me over a jar of greengage jam that she made - after I picked up her blown over wheely bin... omg it was soooooo nice. I asked what her secret was, she said "nothing, just fruit and sugar innit"... but it tasted amazing.

This has brought tears to my eyes. Yes please. Now.
SmallProvincial · 23/10/2021 21:17

Tiptree do a brilliant greengage jam.

And Harrods sometimes have an orange and bay marmalade which is astoundingly delicious (if you're feeling fancy).

Bontanics · 23/10/2021 21:20

Always homemade. This year's favourites have been damson and chilli jam, quince and clove jelly, blackcurrant jam.

Inthesameboatatmo · 23/10/2021 21:22

My mum used to make lovely jam and she once made banana jam , it was delicious . I miss her and her jam .

AtlanticCityProof · 23/10/2021 21:26

Damson

Buying jam is a bit like buying your own furniture, don’t you think?

Postdatedpandemic · 23/10/2021 21:28

Quince, it is in a different playing field

Whatwouldnanado · 23/10/2021 21:29
