ADs and The Brave New World

When you kind of hope that a new thread meanders on quietly because it means that life is being fairly stable...

What are ADs?

Here's the copy and paste job...

Definition of AD
^AD stands for anti dementor.
There are creatures in Harry Potter called dementors, who suck all hope and happiness from you and eventually take your soul. Way back at the start of the pandemic thread after thread was posted on by posters like this and anyone who'd dare question anything or disagree with anything (like putting cheese in your coffee) was bullied off these threads. And so any actual discussion disappeared and it became an echo chamber of misery.^

We are the antidote to that. We follow the rules, but not the "roolz" and we question and discuss with respect to each other. It's all very civil.

Yuck. Just yuck.

GiveMeNovocain · 13/11/2021 09:54

Sorry that was in response to the hideous remote controlled mask 😂

Worldgonecrazy · 13/11/2021 12:07

This isn’t about vaccinations any more. It’s about divisiveness.

Just watched last Christmas (great film) and the mother talks about finger pointing and having some one to blame. It used to be Jews, single mums, Muslims, immigrants, any one who can easily be othered.

So sad. And bloody terrifying.

Jesus Christ anyone seeing Holland, they've all gone bloody mad

At least they've told the truth about OUR numbers dropping in that article. Makes a change.

There's more measures to come reading the article

MercyBooth · 13/11/2021 19:34

Is anyone else just sitting waiting for the first MP to get the call that their elderly relative has been affected by the care worker vaccine mandate?

MrsDeaconClaybourne · 13/11/2021 19:39

Thanks for the link Mercy I'd seen the story but not your thread. I'll have a look.

MercyBooth · 13/11/2021 19:43

Dont feel you have to post on the thread Flowers
I just wanted to make posters aware of the story

MercyBooth · 13/11/2021 19:45

@Lostinacloud Thanks for what you posted Over There. I tagged you because you always explain it really eloquently

WouldBeGood · 13/11/2021 19:52

I’m scared by all this

MercyBooth · 13/11/2021 19:53

Me too.

Lostinacloud · 13/11/2021 22:12

@MercyBooth, very kind of you to say Flowers. That was a very tough thread, there are some really brutal posters out there at the moment but when you re-look, it is only actually the usual 3 or 4 and some of the posters I used to recognise and who always came after me have disappeared so I wonder if they’ve “re-branded” Grin

MercyBooth · 13/11/2021 23:02
Grin

Was sent this by someone close to me
sneevaccine.org.uk/location-of-walk-in-clinics/#booster

The most local sites. Every single one "local" to me will involve travel and a ££££ taxi fare. Why do people bang on about mandates when some of us cant even access it. I had Moderna on 27th July as my first dose Went back to same pharmacy on 26th September and 6th November and they were only doing Pfizer. Told me no i couldnt have it because they cant mix them. Incidentally the pharmacy that did me has been mentioned Over There......

LivinLaVidaLoki · 14/11/2021 08:00

So, the position in hospitals, from the latest available govt data...

Admissions
9 Nov 2021 968
9 Nov 2020 1768

People in hospital

11 Nov 2021 8652
11 Nov 2020 15666

A much much better picture. But over there its all "but last year it was alpha", "different half term times", "but we were in lockdown" "it's impossible to compare".

Honestly it's about pressure on the nhs. If the nhs is in a better position this year then that's a good thing, regardless of the above. Also "we were in lockdown"....so we were, yet here we are we are with a more transmissible variant and doing better without it.

Lostinacloud · 14/11/2021 09:43

You make total sense @LivinLaVidaLoki and I couldn’t agree more but sadly, even when you present such clear and obvious data to some posters in the C zone, they remain blinkered and can’t seem to appreciate that lockdown and masks and vaccine mandates may not actually be required.

I don’t know the source yet but I did see some mention of a new leaked government plan this morning which seemed to suggest that they are basically going to shut the whole covid thing down next March (fingers crossed). There are apparently plans to end free pcr and lateral flow tests and isolation requirements, close track and trace and focus more on high risk settings like care homes rather than the wider society. It’s called Operation ramp down apparently but it could be rubbish because I haven’t seen where it’s come from. We can but hope though….

justasking111 · 14/11/2021 12:41

We're not the only country government squealing to save the health service the Netherlands have copied and pasted the same thing about their hospitals. France has done it.

I remember first lockdown the Italian paramedics visiting homes triaging patients elderly and telling family to keep them warm and fed. They were upset but knew there would be no good outcome and at least they died with loved ones

LivinLaVidaLoki · 14/11/2021 14:38

Thanks @Lostinacloud I thought I was missing something or going mad.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 14/11/2021 16:32

Also the news this time last year was full of hospital reports from hospitals telling us all how awful it all was. Very different tone this year.

GiveMeNovocain · 14/11/2021 16:49

Hypocrisy is alive and well in wales twitter.com/RWTaylors/status/1459921821311160330?s=20

WouldBeGood · 14/11/2021 16:52

@GiveMeNovocain it’s almost as though they don’t believe what they’re telling us…

Indeed. Drakey loves to tell us masks are a minor inconvenience and make a massive impact. But then he also says the same if the ever expanding 'passports'. I think he's got some weird saviour thing going and is addicted to people thanking him for keeping them safe. I've no idea if we'll ever get rid of masks
