Holiday club!

itsgettingwierd · 13/10/2021 19:09

@TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams

Have a couple of days booked in to see family. Other than that they'll have to amuse themselves (or do a lot of leaf clearing if there's bickering and whinging) like I did. You're all very organised with booked days out and all sorts. One of these days I'll magically turn into that parent 😂
Don't worry. They survive if you don't.

Ds is 17 now and not worse for wear having a parent who didn't fill his holidays with organised activities - despite me also always being that parent that vowed "next holidays....." Grin

Porfre · 13/10/2021 19:09

Oh yes, might also go and visit the Blackpool lights too

itsgettingwierd · 13/10/2021 19:11

@OhamIreally

One week only here - going to Tenerife and I can't wait to get away from work. We are counting down the days Grin
Have you been in October before?

Take waterproofs or think jacket as it can get quite windy and be colder than people think.

It can also still be very hot.

Just be prepared for anything!

MrsPear · 13/10/2021 19:27

State schools but 2 weeks off. Going to the inlaws for 10 days. Then chill out until school. Except one day where we are going chessington for the youngest’s birthday.

Bunnycat101 · 13/10/2021 19:37

Have a few parities, pumpkin picking and holiday club. I took off all of half term last time and the weather was vile. I’d definitely not want 2 weeks- would much rather have 3 weeks at Easter or 2 weeks for May half term.

TheRealMrsMorningstar · 13/10/2021 19:58

2 x extra gymnastics training sessions for dd2. Pumpkin 'picking' and Halloween event at local farm. Dd2 has a gymnastics competition.

Thatsplentyjack · 13/10/2021 20:01

Monday softplay
Tuesday museum
Wednesday farm park
Thursday big new (ridiculously expensive softplay, bit I want tk see if it lives up to the hype)
Friday undecided, probably the park as its to be nice weather.

Childminder so like to keep busy and active.

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 13/10/2021 20:03

DCs are staying with grandparents for 3 days, we're staying in a hotel near their house

Swimming

Pumpkin carving

Autumnal walks

Decorating and decluttering

Shannith · 13/10/2021 20:08

First week - play dates, Chessington (a friends parents are taking DD), spa hotel with her dad.

Second week - riding over exmoor at speed and then staying with friends in Bristol.

In between, walking the dogs, dragging DD to the yard to watch me ride (not popular) baking, watching crap on YouTube. Boredom. Which is not a bad thing.

MoreThanAnOffDay · 13/10/2021 20:19

Local charity run farm

Halloween walk at garden centre
Halloween party at garden centre.
Halloween party at a soft play
Halloween party at a friend

Halloween event at a different farm further afield.

Christmas photo shoot for dcs. Followed by pumpkin picking.

1 day spare to hopefully get an appointment with a business advisor if not chill

Tigerwhocameforsupper · 13/10/2021 20:25

First week stuck at home isolating as I have covid. Second week we are meant to be going away but that’s dependant on no-one else in the house catching it.

Simonjt · 13/10/2021 20:57

Dance ‘camp’ Monday-Wednesday
Thursday Grandma is coming to the rescue
Friday no plans as yet, the weekend will be our usual rugby and swimming.

We break up next Friday, so another week of school yet.

sanityisamyth · 13/10/2021 20:59

Holiday club and spending time at the stables and days out.

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 13/10/2021 21:14

I’ve not heard of 2 week half terms!

Doughnuts68 · 13/10/2021 22:01

I didn’t know either

Us too, lots of fingers and toes crossed that I manage to work out the paperwork and the tests all come back in time and negative. Enjoy!

Hmm you've worried me now - no tests outward if you're double jabbed/ under 12 - just the day 2 test left on return now I think?

I went to Portugal in August and all the testing really took the shine off it all to be honest.

bookworm14 · 13/10/2021 22:20

Addams Family 2 at the cinema, then granny is looking after her for two days and will take her to the zoo. Holiday club for two days, then we’re going to see Frozen the Musical on the Friday. We’ll probably get a pumpkin at some point too.

OhamIreally · 13/10/2021 22:23

@itsgettingwierd I've been a few times Jan/Feb but been quite lucky. Met a couple on arrival a few years ago who said it had poured with rain for two weeks prior to our arrival.
Never been in October but prepared for it to be cool at night but still hoping for sun in the day time.
Our half term is the week after next though so got another full week to get through.

Thank goodness! I’m absolutely stumped for stuff to do, and where we live, there is bugger all to do. Wish I could afford to take us off somewhere, I am sooo bored of where we live! Even though it’s beautiful.

NotThisWeekSatan · 14/10/2021 06:38

@OhamIreally the tests are only for our teens, you’re right that there’s no need on the way out if you’re vaccinated (or I think under 12 though haven’t paid close attention to that).

I’ve been before in Oct and it’s been a lot hotter than Easter when we usually go. Hope you have a fab time.

Crunchymum · 14/10/2021 07:27

We're lucky that we are very central (obviously things like museums and stuff will get booked up) but weather dependent we plan a river walk one day, Hyde Park another day. We have Regents canal on our doorstop so maybe Regents Park too.

*off to check weather

Crunchymum · 14/10/2021 07:29

Well weather looks set to turn just in time for our (1 week thank God!!) Half term.

Need to rethink the plans.

Babababababybelll · 14/10/2021 08:10

I have had a look at the dates , pay day is the Thursday and Friday, so not a lot the first half thats for sure.

Probably some walks and parks.

Will try fit a day trip in and a Macdonald's tea after pay day.

Trampoline parks are very popular in our house atm

Doughnuts68 · 14/10/2021 09:52

Sorry for those isolating.
