What did you get for your 21st birthday?

Looking for some good ideas for DD’s 21st birthday.

My EX husband got a Brand New Porsche 911 Cab in 1992 which cost around 60K at the time from his extremely wealthy parents. This, was about 18 months before he started dating me at Manchester University. He was in his final year, I was a first year living In Student Accommodation, when he picked me up whisking me up to Blackpool for Fish and Chips on the Promenade for the first date.

In the 'relatively' normal world I was exceptionally lucky as my mother gave me her 3 year old BMW 3 Series for my 21st birthday. This being as my mother always changed her cars every three years.

A double shift at work, as somebody else phoned in sick.

Jewellery - a gold and white gold ring from my parents and a matching bracelet from close family friends. 20 yrs later they are still very special to me.

Drugs.

Then we went to a rave. I was dumb. But it was great.

A small diamond ring and 2k. I got a car for my 18th.

A little diamond pendant necklace. It's simple and I wear it whenever I can.

A hospital visit for a large burst abcess that went septic

@TheChild it was a horse share! It's quite a common arrangement in the horse world when neither party has enough time to look after the horse full-time or money to buy the entire beast, or a Combination of both!

A secondhand washing machine.

A husband! Got married a month after my birthday (sorry, not helping you)

I got a very nice hot hatch for my 18th and a big party, a tag heuer watch and a gold gucci watch.

My dad brought the woman he was shagging to my 21st whilst still with my mum.

That’s what I got.

Oh plus a blow up alien among other shit presents. Someone stole it.

Am intensive driving course

Pissed. On a holiday paid for by my parents.
Very shortly afterwards they paid for our wedding and house deposit too.

A hoover and a microwave 😂

Rejection after an interview at Shell. Had to get up at 5am to get the train to London, didn't get back to university where I was living at the time until 11pm. My family doesn't really do presents - but I do remember getting my car's brakes fixed for my 18th which was handy

A string of pearls. I worked in a jewellers during the uni holidays and they did my parents a rather large discount. I also got diamond studs from an aunt. I wear both regularly.

A Chanel handbag.

Amongst other things, a Braun handblender. I still have it and it’s still going strong - I’m 50 next year!

Absolutely nothing at all.

Silver jewellery. But, me and my boyfriend (now DH of 20 years! ) Went to Morocco. Got upgraded on the flights and hotel when they saw my dob (we flew on my actual birthday). We had the most amazing week.

I'll never forget it. There a photo of me and I look slim, relaxed and happy. How I relish that snap.
