Ocado Christmas slots

Darkchocolateandcoffee · 30/09/2021 04:00

So I get some sort of priority Christmas booking on Ocado and it started today. When I woke at 3am I thought brilliant, I'll get a Christmas Eve slot.

But no. The nearest Christmas I can get at 3am on the day that priority booking opens is Tuesday 21 December.

Is there another super super VIP Ocado list that was allowed to book their slots before me?

Or did everyone else set their alarms for one minute past midnight and hoover up the early slots?

Nothing like that on mine. I tried chat but no-one available, not surprising considering the time I guess.

Thanks.

Yourownpersonaljesus · 02/10/2021 00:30

Same for me @Crankley. I'm on the website, rather than the app - could that be why?

ScienceSensibility · 02/10/2021 00:37

Received my email yesterday. Logged on at midnight and kept refreshing my Home page.
Nothing until 12.20 when up popped the message so I clicked immediately to book. 22nd, 23rd and 24 th all gone.!!

That’s the second year this has happened. So, I’ve booked a slot on the 21st but if I can get a later one at Waitrose or elsewhere, I will cancel it.

Too cross to sleep now. 🤣🥴

Are you on the app or website @ScienceSensibility? I've been refreshing since midnight and it's still not giving me the option to book. I need to sleep!

DiamondBright · 02/10/2021 00:49

@ScienceSensibility I couldn't get one last year, I know everything was a bit messed up but I got a slot with Morrison's and could have also booked with Asda despite not having a delivery pass with them.

I was a huge Ocado fan but their performance throughout the pandemic has been poor.

ScienceSensibility · 02/10/2021 00:57

I was on the website guys. I don’t have the App (phone storage rationing) 🙂

ScienceSensibility · 02/10/2021 00:57

A fellow David Gahan fan, I see 👍🏻

They are staggering slots, I have had my email, can book yesterday, my mum can book from today

And yes knowing how they were at the start of the pandemic, and seeing how people have behaved over the petrol ‘issue’ because of the media shitstirring as they have over food at Christmas I booked my slot at 1 minute past midnight

Crankley · 02/10/2021 01:17

I tried reloading again and it appeared. Latest I could get was 22nd but that's fine as ordering meat from elsewhere.

Thanks for your help and good luck to those still getting slots.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 02/10/2021 01:21

There’s still slots available here too so it must be your area/the staggered release thing

Yourownpersonaljesus · 02/10/2021 01:23

I finally got a slot! I'm more of a Martin Gore fan @ScienceSensibility Smile.

doce · 02/10/2021 06:56

Still nothing - I hate Ocado more and more with every dealing I have with them. Nasty company, lousy customer service, couldn't care less attitudes. That's it - Waitrose calls.

Standrewsschool · 02/10/2021 07:25

Just got my slot. Could only get Monday evening, which is earlier than I wanted. No good for fresh stuff etc.

TheOneWithTwoParties · 02/10/2021 09:46

Do keep checking for later slots. I've now got one for the 23rd.

I couldn't book with Ocado all through the lockdowns so I was using Sainsburys. The quality and subs from Sainsbury's were just awful though so I returned to Ocado once they let me book slots again. I'm not massively happy with them and their range does seem much shitter now they are with M&S.

Autumngoldleaf · 02/10/2021 10:00

I've had to pay the 9.99 to get my normal Tuesday delivery which isn't anywhere near Xmas Hmm

doce · 02/10/2021 10:05

Just out of curiosity, why are people sticking with a company that’s so poor at basic customer service, the most expensive of all the home delivery services, and so much worse than Tesco and Waitrose?

I like the M&S food offering, but it’s just not worth the awfulness of having to deal with Ocado to get it.

Shellingbynight · 02/10/2021 10:18

@doce I certainly wouldn't stick with Ocado if I thought they offered poor service, but they've always been fine for me - reliable, well stocked, no problems.

I sometimes use Waitrose (because I like their product range) and I find they are much more likely to have missing items/subs than Ocado.

minipie · 02/10/2021 10:20

Yes I wanted to swap to Waitrose as I prefer the food but every order was missing close to half the items. Ocado have generally been much better on reliability.

I found that with Waitrose some time back, but these days they’re just fine. And a MUCH nicer company to deal with than Ocado.
TheOneWithTwoParties · 02/10/2021 10:26

Ocado have always been much better for stock reliability for me. The drivers are really nice. Tesco delivery in my area is awful, I couldn’t rely on anything turning up and they barely tried to substitute. Same with Sainsbury’s and Sainsbury’s is just as expensive. Our Waitrose is a small store so not many slots available.

OompaLumpaLabrador · 02/10/2021 10:26

If it helps anyone, I easily got a Waitrose slot for 23rd. We loved from Ocado a couple of years ago, after ten years and have been really pleased with them. They’ve really upped their online game and the quality Ave range at Waitrose is excellent.

Samanabanana · 02/10/2021 10:28

We booked ours at midnight when the smart pass slots were released. Up with a brand new baby so nothing better to do Grin

Plantstrees · 02/10/2021 10:30

Nearest Christmas week slot I can book is evening of Monday 20th. That is useless for fresh stuff for Christmas Day.

DietrichandDiMaggio · 02/10/2021 10:31

I have the Midweek pass and have booked a slot on Tuesday 22nd, but have been charged £9.99 for delivery - is the cost of delivery not covered by the Smart pass during Christmas week? If they are going to charge me a tenner for the privilege, on top of what I'm already paying, I'll get my delivery from Tesco where my delivery pass covers the cost.

DietrichandDiMaggio · 02/10/2021 10:34

I have just looked on their website and Smart pass privileges are suspended that week, so having a pass enables you to book the slots earlier, but you still have to pay for delivery Hmm.
