What did you do for your 30th?

I’ll be 30 in April and I like to go all out for birthdays so need to plan well in advance especially as it’s over the Easter holidays. There’s so many options but I’m a bit stuck for ideas.

Keen to hear what others did for their 30th.

I went to Vegas! Saw in my 30th on the dance floor at Tao. Obv not much help now though...

DH and I did a trip to the US - San Francisco, Yosemite, Death Valley & Las Vegas.
On the actual day of my 30th DH booked a helicopter and boat trip to the Grand Canyon and then dinner at Gordon Ramsay's steakhouse. It was an amazing day.

For DH's birthday we had a weekend in Barcelona and a visit to the Nou Camp, then a bbq back home with family and friends.

Both were pre kids

Girl's weekend in London with old university friends followed by a much longed for holiday in the Seychelles with DH.

Went to the Maldives with my then boyfriend (now dh) at the time who was also turning 30 on the trip and we got engaged.

DP had arranged me a surprise birthday dinner with friends and then we went into lockdown the week before.
He got me a special cake made and we just sat in the house 🤣

I happened to be in Madrid, on a training trip for my new job. I went out drinking and dancing with my colleagues.

Went out with mates in Manchester, , drank 80% vodka, got hammered, fell down a flight of stairs, cried with my best mate over something I can't remember, dont remember getting home. Laughed my hangover off the next day looking at the photos.

Jesus it would take me a month to get over being that pissed now.

I went tenerife for the weekend with my best friend nothing crazy beach time and stargazing up mount teide after a 3 course meal at the top.

It was a Tuesday so went to the pub quiz we always did on a Tuesday back then.

I had a lovely month of celebrations for my 30th! 2 weeks before I went to London with a few friends to watch Magic Mike live show which was an experience 😅. Then a week before my actual birthday I went to Kraków with my DP, then went to Paris for 2 nights with my mum. The night before my birthday I had a night out with some friends, who arranged for a cake, balloons etc. Then on the morning of my birthday my DP surprised me with a trip to London to watch a show and to go for cocktails at The Shard. We stayed in an AMAZING hotel, the room was decorated with balloons when we got there and when we got in from our night out he’d arranged for chocolates and rose petals to be left ♥️.

Then we came back home the next day and I had a big meal with my family the next night, then finally a week after I had a meal for 20 friends at my favourite restaurant. It was lovely, I felt so special and loved. And I was so grateful

Nothing as I had a 2 week old non sleeping baby! He was very cute but I've told DH that for our 40th we are doing a blow out Disney trip to make up for it!

Dh arranged dinner with friends (mainly his friends), it was nice until his mates gobby wife asked for the bill and said we didn't want dessert all because she wanted to go to a pub with a smoking area. I don't smoke and love dessert! Got home about 1am after a really shit night with the gobby wife to find that dh's daughter (15) had had a party, house was a disaster, high heel marks on our wooden floor and someone had stolen my £200 birthday money from my purse. Something I'll never forget for all the wrong reasons!!

Weekend in Paris. Remember that I didn’t bring my special birthday present Swiss Army knife with me (you could take these things on planes back then) which would have made arty lunches of bread, cheese and wine a lot easier.

It was a massive upgrade on the birthday in Florence where DH didn’t propose on top of the cathedral dome, much to the amusement of all of the language students up there at the time.

Weekend in a posh hotel in York (we're down south), meal in a Michelin recommend restaurant and generally being spoilt in cafes etc whilst up in York. Had a lovely time. Hotel was amazing and I'm a history buff so loved going round such a beautiful town (city?) And eating lovely food of course.

I was humiliated at the time. It was a shit birthday when it should have been amazing.

Fortunately DH had redeeming qualities.

We lived in New zealand. I went on a hot air balloon ride and had dinner in the Auckland sky tower revolving restaurant.

Seven weeks pregnant. Sick as a dog.

Sat on the sofa watching 'the fly' whilst my DH dozed.

Second for Vegas! Went with my then boyfriend (now husband), and about 8 friends who were all turning 30 in or around that year! Was a super trip, just partied and gambled and drank for 4-5 days!

Probably not everyone's cup of tea but was a great time, wouldn't do it now I'm older (closer to 40 and hoping for an Italian wine trip for that one!).
