Did your newborns hair colour change?

My DD (3 weeks old) was born with lovely brown hair. I'm a mousey blonde myself and I've always hated being so fair so I was secretly pleased that she was a brunette

However my mum has just informed me that I was born with the same hair colour and it all fell out and came back blonde within a few months.

So was just curious what others babies hair stories were! Is it the norm for their first hair to not be their actual hair colour?

Obviously it doesnt really matter either way she is gorgeous, I'm just curious!

Both were born with jet black hair. DS is now dark blond and DD is light to medium brown with a few blond streaks though particularly in summer.

Ds1 was mousy and went very, very dark after a few years.

Ds2 was white blond until he was about 3 and is now dirty/mousy blond

Yep they both lost all of their newborn hair. One grew back a similar colour (dark) and the other much lighter. However several years later and they’ve ended up with almost identical hair colour, just slightly different texture.

Both of mine were born with very dark hair. DC1 fell out within a few days and she had almost no hair until she was 2 when it grew back blonde and curly, which it still is age 11. DC2's didn't fall out, it just lightened to light brown.

Dd was born with black hair, had very pale blonde hair by the age of 6 months and it has been getting gradually darker for years so that now at age 13 she is almost a brunette.

I think mine are much the same as when they were born. Red and brown. Dd1's eye colour has changed though. From dark grey blue to brown

Mine was quite mousy at first, but by the time he was about a month old it was bright ginger. It's more strawberry blond now in his teens though.

DC was born with plenty of black hair (as apparently was I and both of my siblings) fell out at around 3 months old and came back blonde (both myself and my siblings all have mousey blonde/brown hair too)

My DD's hair was nearly jet black when she was born (just like my Nan's) it didn't fall out, she's always had a full head of hair but as she's got older her hair has lightened significantly and at age 4 it's now a beautiful golden strawberry blonde.

DC1 - lots of very dark hair which then turned almost white. This gradually darkened over a couple of years and is now very dark again.
DC2 - lots of dark hair which has stayed that way.
DC3 - very little hair that looked red for a time before turning blonde.

Myself and my niece had a mop of almost black hair when born... by 12 months was very light blonde.

My DS was born with dark, almost black hair, then it fell out and grew in blond. Now on his teens, it's a golden brown colour.

Very dark at birth, turned blonde by 6 months. DH is mousy, I’m dark.

Daughter was born with light brown hair that has become progressively blonder. Now she's almost 2 and it is very light, almost white blonde.

Ds had fine golden hair. Now has thick brown curls (like mil).
Dd had jet black hair, now a mousey-red.

DD had lots of straight black hair when she was born. By the time she was christened at 6 months it was incredibly curly and mid blonde. Still the same now.

First born she didn't have much hair but it was dark. It fell out a lot then came bk in more light brown, goes more blonde in summer.

Youngest was born with a full head of dark hair. It's now blonde! U wld never think it was same child. Her hair thinned a lot and by about 6 months started coming in lighter and the more hair that came in the lighter it was.

My niece was born quite blonde with a hint of ginger not quite strawberry blonde but it's now getting more ginger by the day she's 6 months old. I reckon by Xmas she'll be a full ginger.

Oldest was born with fair whispy hair, that went strawberry blonde, then ginger before settling to a Sandy brown colour.

Youngest was born with straight, jet black hair that fell out and grew back into golden blonde ringlets.

My first was ginger when born,I'm brunette husband blonde,he is now dark blonde. 2nd full head of dark hair,now a lovely strawberryblonde

My nephew was born with masses of very dark black hair- one of those babies you see in photos- hair everywhere. Looked like Elvis

Age 20 is platinum blonde (naturally)

I started out brunette and then turned mousy. My DC both started very blond - and then both darkened - one ginger and one now dark mouse.

DS born with black eyes and dark hair. Hair fell out, ended up with white blond hair and blue eyes. Now aged 4 he has grey eyes, dirty blond hair, and dark tanned skin that makes me think he’ll go brown when he’s older (DH and DFIL have Italian heritage)
