Did your newborns hair colour change?

My DD (3 weeks old) was born with lovely brown hair. I'm a mousey blonde myself and I've always hated being so fair so I was secretly pleased that she was a brunette

However my mum has just informed me that I was born with the same hair colour and it all fell out and came back blonde within a few months.

So was just curious what others babies hair stories were! Is it the norm for their first hair to not be their actual hair colour?

Obviously it doesnt really matter either way she is gorgeous, I'm just curious!

All four were blonde. Eldest has very dark hair, two children in the middle are both mousy brown, youngest has very blonde hair still.

DC2 born with straight black hair. It all fell off within months and this light blond fuzz appeared. First it was straight then in turned into coily blonde curls. Years later it's still furiously curly but more ashy blonde.

Dc1 jet black hair now dark brown,
Dc2 light brown now dark brown,
Dc3 blonde now light brown.

Ds had almost black hair when he was born. He lost a lot of it & it grew back blonde & has darkened over the years to a darkish brown.

Born with a full mop of jet black hair that slowly has turned into gorgeous blonde/brown balyage that I'd pay a lot of money for!

Dc1 - white hair, fell out grew back a light ginger is now a mid blonde with some white blonde streaks - a section at the front is always this white blonde, it hasn’t changed from being a baby.
Dc2 - born with ginger/blonde hair and is now going dark brown/black like his dad. Dc2’s hair is actually really long but very curly (and doesn’t get cut often 🙄) you can still see some of the ginger/blonde on the ends.

Yes both of my dds started mousy brown and ended up blonde

Our first was dark like dad, flaxen 18 months later.

DD was born with black hair which gradually lightened to mid-brown. What surprised me was that it changed colour patch by patch. The hair at the nape of her neck stayed black the longest.

DD2 had black hair when born that then grew mousey. There was literally a stripe in her hair - her roots were so light people asked me if I'd dyed my tiny newborn daughter's hair .

Both DC had blue eyes, then green for around 2 years, then stayed hazel from around 4 years.

All 3 of mine born with sprinkling of black hair, went bald, grew back light brown and gets steadily darker over infancy until very dark brown practically black.

DS's baby photos look like a series of different kids. He was born dark, that seemed to fall out and come back blond by about 4 months, then the blond gradually darkened through a ginger stage before settling on light brown at about 18 months.

Mine both had barely any hair when born but it did get blonder as they grew up. I had quite dark hair when born and then it went white blonde.

Dd was born with dark brown hair and it didn’t fall out but it is now getting lighter and more gingery. Ds had very ginger hair when he was born and he’s now strawberry blonde.

One of mine had auburn hair at birth and turned flaxen blonde, another had jet black hair which also turned dark blonde.

My dd2 had really dark hair, then blonde, now at 14 it is dark blonde/ light brown.
I once saw a baby with black tips but red gold hair roots ! It was so beautiful, like fun fur ! The parents were laughing because people kept asking if they had dyed it. Gorgeous baby.

Yep brown that turned blonde, one blonder than the other.

Both dc Jet black full head of hair . Fell out . Dd is dark blonde and ds has the fairest hair you can barely see it

I was strawberry blonde at birth and am now dark brunette.

Ds1 blonde at birth blonde now at 19
DD Strawberry blonde at birth now dark blonde or mousey brown.

Ds2 dark brown birth and dark brown now

Oh my goodness what beautiful hair ! In both pictures. Such a lovely baby.

Both me and XH are very dark haired although XH was ash blonde as a baby until about 5. DD had dark hair (and furry ears) when born, very blonde by a few months old until 3 years, then golden blonde (we think same colour as exes mum when she was younger.) gradually darkening to light brown now she is 6.5.

Dc1 born bald, was a blonde child now a brunette teen
Dc2 born blonde, still blonde.
Dc3 born brunette, now strawberry blonde
Dc4 born brunette, remains brunette
Dc5 redhead, they don't change

My youngest was born with lots of very dark hair which all fell out and turned blonde. He's 7 now and still white blonde.

@GnTplease I can relate. “now your hair is yellow and brown like mine” - dds favourite comment when I come out of the hairdressers

All of mine were born dark, then were blonde until 3-4yrs and now are all dark haired adults 🤷🏼‍♀️
