Did your newborns hair colour change?

My DD (3 weeks old) was born with lovely brown hair. I'm a mousey blonde myself and I've always hated being so fair so I was secretly pleased that she was a brunette Grin

However my mum has just informed me that I was born with the same hair colour and it all fell out and came back blonde within a few months.

So was just curious what others babies hair stories were! Is it the norm for their first hair to not be their actual hair colour?

Obviously it doesnt really matter either way she is gorgeous, I'm just curious!

Yup. Born mouse brown, fell out to be replaced by white locks. Now a teenager with dark blonde

Both mine were born with mouse hair. DS went very blond and curly (sadly the curls went with his first haircut Sad) and is now mousey again.

DD was born with dark mousey hair, which turned to golden blonde. She has natural balayage highlights now at 4, I’m very jealous ~especially after messing mine up with bleach during lockdown which then needed loads to be cut off due to the damage, which I’m still growing out painfully slowly~

My brother was white blonde as a baby and had mid brown hair.

My son was ginger at birth but is now reddish mouse.

Yes, DS was a really dark brown, went to blonde, mousy brown and now a chestnut colour.

Yes, all had dark hair when newborn. One is still dark and another is blond.

My first daughter was had jet black hair when she was born she's two now and it is very auburn. 🙂

DS was born with black spikes (I swear, he actually came out with a hairstyle!), which had become bright blonde by the time he was a year. He now (9) has brown hair with surfy blonde highlights that get very blonde in summer.

Yes, she had really dark curls (my hair was nearly black, my husband’s dark chestnut brown) . Within 10 days it had fallen out and she had white blonde hair for years.
34 now and it’s a beautiful chestnut brown.

Yes. DD1 had dark brown hair at birth. It all fell out and she was blonde by about 10 months. Still blonde at 8 but it’s darkening.
DD2 was blonde from birth. While blonde until about 4, now dark blonde.
DD3 was light brown at birth, now aged 2 it’s auburn!

My DS had thick jet black hair, he’s now an ashy blonde. My DD was born with brown hair but now she is quite fair. She’s 9mo but I think she will be very blonde.

Both DDs were born with dark hair that stayed dark.
DS had gingery brown hair that went white blonde. It's now light brown.

DD was born with dark brown hair; it fell out by about 3/4months and then her new hair grew in white-blonde! There was a very cute period where she had blonde hair on the top of her head, a bald ring in the middle and a little tuft of brown hair around the bottom of her head and the nape of her neck like a monk's tonsure.

Her hair then was very very blonde until about 4, then gradually started darkening to a golden brown; and at 8 she's now a sort of fairish brown. My own natural hair was dark brown so she might be heading towards dark brown hair eventually!

DD came out with wispy dark hair, but at the age of 1 it's now a lovely auburn colour. She's mixed race and her dad is very dark, so I predict it will go dark again. It's wavy at the moment, but I can see the "shadow" of tight curls starting.

Yup one of mine went from black to blond to light brown. This was birth to 2 years.

DS had dark brown hair at birth which went blond over the next 6-8 months. By 9 months he had a head of angelic innocent-looking blond curls (at odds with his personality which was "spirited and non-sleeping" Grin)

Oh and also DD was born with bright blue eyes, had blue eyes for years then around 5/6 they turned sea-green! Now she has very unmistakably green eyes. It was a bit weird realising her eye colour had changed to be honest because it happened so late.

Eldest son dark born, fell out, white until about 9 when it started to darken, now black. Confused second son fair all the way.

DD was born strawberry blonde. Is now dark ash blonde with no hint of any strawberry.
DS was born dark blonde then turned almost white.He is now pre-teen and dark blonde again.

I was born with red hair and eyebrows to match. Hair turn blonde as did my brows.

Yes, started with black hair and blue eyes, then went blonde. Now dark brown hair and grey eyes at nearly 14!

My DS was born with a full head of lots and lots of dark brown hair.

It all fell out with really bad cradle cap and then it grew back white/blonde

He's 2 next month and he's golden blonde

Ds hair has been dark chocolate brown (newborn) white blonde then mousy brown its light brown right now with blond sun streaks in it
