I know it's not October yet, but the Christmas forum has been active for months. So I reckon we're allowed Grin

I always find that focusing on Halloween is a good way to deal with the "it's not summer anymore" blues.

I'm not sure what I'm doing this year, we've moved over the summer. Where we used to live quite a few houses on the road get decorated and encourage trick or treaters. So it will be interesting to see if my new neighbours join in or if we'll be the only house with pumpkins outside.

So I need to try and find some events for the kids to go to, just in case. I also won't have my sewing machine set up in time to make costumes this year.

So what is everyone else planning? Are you decorating your house regardless? Are you going anywhere special? Do you have costume plans yet?

Ah I love Halloween. DD is 2 so I plan to begin collecting Halloween decor that I’ll add to yearly. Luckily we have a home bargains and tk max next to each other. I had a look in Tesco yesterday but nothing yet! I’m keen to acquire some tea towels so let me know if anyone sees any!

AdoptedBumpkin · 05/09/2021 16:27

I've not even thought of Halloween yet. I'm still clinging to summer. Grin

RosieRoww · 05/09/2021 17:44

I missed Halloween last year so hoping we can do it this year. If not, the sweets etc will be used in Christmas gifts and everything else can be saved for another year.

FloconDeNeige · 05/09/2021 20:08

@DarlingFell and @KurtWilde

Thank you for the kind feedback! It was pretty fun to make actually 🧟‍♀️

MerryHellbreakingloose · 05/09/2021 20:46

I love the zombie doll. My five year old wouldn't be scared of it.

Can I show off my pumpkins? New addition this year and I can't wait to get them out.

@MerryHellbreakingloose our Staffie cross will be dressing up as Fluffy (the three headed dog) from Harry Potter. I have some sewing to do!

Izzabellasasperella · 05/09/2021 22:10

I love Halloween and have loads of decorations in the cupboard under the stairs. Not sure what we'll be doing this year but it will definitely involve fancy dress😀
This is a doll I made to match my costume a few years ago, I named her desdemonia.

@UrgentHelpforFriend

We do it, decorate the house and outside but it's gentle stuff, I had a neighbour once who went for slasher type stuff, blood dripping.. Knives.. I found it too much for 5 and 9 year kids?

We do bat's, cats, cute witches... Pumpkin

Us too! It’s all quite tame here but I’m excited to get my decorations out and carve a pumpkin 🎃

When I was little our neighbour hung a quite realistic ‘body’ from a tree and put dolls with nails for eyes on her fence Confused.

It was so bizarre and scary!

HereticFanjo · 05/09/2021 22:33

Marking place!

Izzabellasasperella · 05/09/2021 22:33

Trying again with her photo😀

TooBigForMyBoots · 06/09/2021 00:28

We love Halloween.Grin

This year we celebrate DS2's 4th birthday. He really wants a party with a big cake and dress up.👻🎂👹 We are all double vaxxed (apart from 1 antivaxer who currently has Covid and so will have antibodies).

This Halloween is going to be brilliant.Grin

KurtWilde · 06/09/2021 08:31

Loving all the demon and zombie dolls on this thread! DDs My Generation doll is definitely getting a makeover now!

DarlingFell · 06/09/2021 15:07

@SirenSays

Love the doll 🕸️ A few years ago I turned one into Morticia Adams. My decor this year will be very gothic, I'm already on the hunt for glass potion bottles. Halloween is one of my favourite holidays 🎃 This year we're going to a costume party on the Saturday, I'm tempted to go as Mystique or Queen of the Damned 🦇 On the Sunday I'm planning on hosting a horror movie/game night so will need a costume to match the theme, I'll probably pick Tifa Lockhart as its an easy costume or maybe I'll genderbend and go as Kratos.
I was Queen of the Damned at a party we held a couple of Halloweens ago! I bought an amazing feather headdress from Etsy and a huge rubber snake from ebay, was so much fun getting ready. Have fun
RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 06/09/2021 15:29

I've found my people!

I've already done T K maxx (picked up some pumpkins and for some reason - salt and pepper sets)

I've got a growing collection of decs in the shed, this year I'm going high tech (for a 47 year old) and doing projections - Atmos FX have some brilliant ones. It's all dependent on how things are in October obviously although I will have some hand satanizer available Wink

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 06/09/2021 16:05

We're very rural but DH loves Halloween, so I think we'll be having a party for the kids in DD's and DS's classes. They're stuck in classrooms together all day every day anyway. The garden will be a cemetery, we'll do pumpkin carving, a spooky disco, a firepit to roast hotdogs and marshmallows at, and party games that definitely don't involve virus soup bobbing for apples.

CheshireChat · 06/09/2021 18:57

Though the heat is dampening my Halloween spirit, I managed to buy a skull print fitted sheet at dunelm (and 50% off too).

Also picked up a throw from homesense a few weeks back- the Halloween stuff is selling out really, really quickly

TinselTime21 · 06/09/2021 19:00

Weve been invited to a party then go trick or treating as everyone around here goes all out. Last year many more people took part so the kids could have some fun after the crap year it's been.
It was great.

Needhelp101 · 06/09/2021 19:05

Jumping in!

On a trick or treat expedition some years ago, someone had filled surgical gloves with sweets and tied them up. Thought that was a brilliant idea.

KurtWilde · 06/09/2021 19:31

I've already decided I'm dressing as Elvira mistress of darkness this year. I'll be back at TKMaxx tomorrow for salt and pepper pots - assuming they have any left!

blaisealex · 06/09/2021 19:52

@ActonSquirrel

There's a reason they don't show zombie kids and babies very often in films...
You know there's load of horror films about evil kids right? Not necessarily zombies but seriously evil creepy children. I give you, The Ring, The Omen, The Orphan, The Boy, etc. Children go hand in hand with the supernatural, horror stuff.
blaisealex · 06/09/2021 19:53
Thanks for sharing this. Haven't seen it before but it's ace!
Tumbleweed101 · 07/09/2021 19:20

Tumbleweed101 · 07/09/2021 19:21

I love Halloween and attempting to turn an old doll into a reborn triggered my creepy side lol. This is several years ago.
