Hi all,

I would really, really appreciate any ideas - I’m taking a punt at starting a floristry business. Any potential business name ideas would be so welcome.
My name is Kate Smile

Thank you Flowers

I don't like anything with Bloom.
Looks like a cheap rip off off Bloom&Wild.

What's your brand style? Where are you located?

If you're in a city and hope to get lots of online orders, I would avoid gimmick and go for something sleek, simple and modern/clean feeling and match your brand to it.

If you're in a cute little town then kitsch and cutesy might work better...

I like Flowers by Kate but i remember a florist from several years ago in my home town called Eden & thought it was a beautiful name that conjured up lovely lush plants of beauty so maybe that too Smile

I agree to an extent that puns can make you look a bit cheap or tacky (hilarious though many of them are), but I think it can go the other way too.

If you go for too 'high-end' or exclusive-sounding a name, even though your target market is everyday folk, it can put people off, as they may automatically assume your prices will be out of their league/pretentiously overpriced. Fair enough if you are deliberately placing yourself as high-end and upmarket, though!

What A Difference A Bouquet Makes (just 24 pretty flowers) Smile

Don't forget to check if these are actually already companies. I usually check if the name is registered as an Instagram handle. Think about your target audience/ your aesthetic.

Whilst some of these Ronseal suggestions probably are by far the most sensible and practical, I am still reminded of this Grin

I applaud the imaginative names. Locally we have a hairdressers called Scissor Sisters which I really like and think is a great idea but some of these more creative names don’t spell out what the business is. We also have a ‘Hair by Neil’ which I think says it all and sounds classy. In your case I think ‘Flowers by Kate’ sounds more high end than Kate’s Flowers but both say exactly what you do.

No, no, no...that's hovering dangerously close to looking like bukkake (google it if you don't know what this is, but I don't recommend it).

KilledByWitches · 08/09/2021 23:25

Saw one in Ulverston once called Floral and Hardy whi h really made me laugh. Perhaps would only work in Ulverston though.

Ginger1982 · 08/09/2021 23:30

My grandparents were florists and had a chain of shops. They were Flowers by (my Gran's name). Classic and easy to remember.

PearlyRising · 09/09/2021 07:35

Ha ha i like it! If the florists surname were Hardy, triple points /love

There's a hairdressing chain in Ireland called Peter Marks, one in every big town, v well known here. I saw a dog grooming van with Peter Barks on it and I loved it.

I get that a pun is not classy but sometimes it's ok. For Dog Grooming, it worked!
