Do you have a nice bum?

My bum looks a bit like it's melting, or perhaps making an escape attempt by sliding down my legs.

What's the most effective way to get a nice toned bum? I walk loads every day but that's clearly not enough. Does the answer involve one million squats?

How would I know? What is a "nice shape". What is firm & what is not? Do you get someone else to film your bum or measure it.

Hell no.
But I can't see it so I don't care.

Moonface123 · 26/08/2021 08:22

Yes, l am happy with mine, it's tiny, always has been, l am built like Olive Oyl,
and the fact l never hardly sit down on it due to hectic way of life, probably helps. My late husband would moan if l were too sit on his lap, saying it was too boney. I can actually feel the bones myself I l sit a certain way, very little padding. It's totally down to my genetics.

Slipperfairy · 26/08/2021 08:24

I'm another one who didn't like my bum in the 90s. I didn't have hips then, so could wear men's jeans, but always thought my bum was massive. Men always liked it though.

My bum's in fashion now, but it has dropped a bit. Looks great from the side though.

Nigelsplans · 26/08/2021 08:24

I know a lot of the posts here are lighthearted but it is so sad still seeing how women fret about their body shapes.
I'd love an hourglass figure but it's not to be, so I work with what I've got to keep it healthy, and remind myself to be grateful that it's still functioning well in it's mid fifties.
Ps @Melliferous my flat bum has only ever got more shapely when I did weights. I have been known to wear padded knickers with certain dresses to give the dress a better line, but mostIy just live with it.
DH had a gorgeous arse, as does our daughter

I do! I spent so many years thinking it was too big and now it's my best bit. My issue is my tummy!

sar302 · 26/08/2021 08:42

I do, which is a blessing as most of me is shot to shit these days.

But it did mean when I was heavily pregnant, I looked like I'd swallowed a giant tic tac 🙄

NeonJellyBaby · 26/08/2021 08:49

I’ve always had a very flat, shapeless bum, and nothing seems to change that. But I’ve got decent boobs and legs so I suppose you’ve can’t have it all.

80sPadme · 26/08/2021 08:58

Short answer- no, I don't feel like I have a nice money at all especially my bottom

crossstitchingnana · 26/08/2021 09:00

I'm in my 50s and hated it in the 80s like others have said. Now it's fashionable as it's rounded. I have always had it but do walk a lot and do yoga.

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 26/08/2021 09:03

Nope. It's like two hippos fighting to the death inside the world's biggest sausage casing.

The only tip I have for anyone in the arse department is put down the fork. I didn't and now each buttock has a different postcode. 😭😁

Coogee · 26/08/2021 09:07

I’m perfectly happy with mine. I always have been. It’s neat, well defined and in proportion with the rest of me. I lift heavy weights and do a lot of the exercises that I see recommended to make bums bigger.

Thankfully, they haven’t worked on me. The opposite, if anything.

VladmirsPoutine · 26/08/2021 09:16

I will never get over how the press went on about Pippa Middleton's bum in her bridesmaid dress. I've had bigger bumps from a mosquito bite on my arm!

CounsellorTroi · 26/08/2021 09:27

I’m 60 and my bum is not bad. I do exercise a fair amount. Used to do 30 minutes a day on cross trainer. Do leg press and thigh press at gym and swim a bit. My F cup boobs are still pretty perky. I’ve not had DC, that was not by choice but there are some perks!

They say you have to choose between your face and your bottom.

I don't think I've chosen, necessarily, but I would say my bottom is better than my eye-bagged face!

Etulosba · 26/08/2021 09:48

It wasn’t just the press who thought she has a nice bum. I’m a member of several male dominated forums. Royal weddings, or any kind of wedding, are not normal topics of conversation, but I remember her bum creating quite a stir.

Evidently, you don’t need a bum of equine proportions for it to be considered attractive.

Palavah · 26/08/2021 09:51

I watched fhe royal wedding in mixed company and as soon as she went up the steps the guys were commenting on her nice bum. The press were reflecting the reaction not driving it!

TankGirl97 · 26/08/2021 10:57

I've always been slim but never had a great bum. Bit flat, bit saggy, and more than a touch of the old saddle bags (though I hate that name).
Is rowing any good for toning it? Running has never seemed to help much in that area.

OhWhyNot · 26/08/2021 11:11

Pippa is very attractive in a sexy way so whatever her bum shape would be appealing

fantasmasgoria1 · 26/08/2021 11:18

I hate my body due to body dysmorphia and I have an Ed so I am never body positive. However my Fiance says my bum is very sexy and a nice shape. Many men through my life have said I have a nice bum but due to my issues I can never accept it.

WithLoveFromMyselfToYourself · 26/08/2021 11:32

No. It’s never been my best feature even when young and very slim. Luckily it’s always behind me so I don’t swell on it.

thistimelastweek · 26/08/2021 11:36

I have skinny old haunches. I used to have skinny young haunches.
I couldn't care less because, as pp's have said, they're for sitting on.

WeAreTheWeirdosMister · 26/08/2021 11:41

I do, if my family has a heavy day of walking they all complain about their legs aching but it's always my bum, so I think it's 'activated' more than the average bum.
