Weight and Hen do T-Shirt

I have got myself into a bit of a state. A very good friend of mine is having her hen do this coming weekend. The friend that organised it has ordered us all T-Shirts to wear. I did mention in a private text message that I had put on a lot of weight and this was my worst nightmare.. Anyhow, the T-Shirts have arrived and we are due to turn up, change into them and then enjoy our day. I am so concerned it won't fit. I have told the friend about my concerns and am going to collect the T-shirt tomorrow to try it on and see if it fits. But what the hell am I going to do if it doesn't? She said it would be ok, she will pretend she forgot to order mine but it just will look a bit obvious and shit won't it? Even if it does fit, they are not really the best for someone on the larger side, I would prefer something that was a bit more flattering. I can't bear the thought of everyone wearing their T-shirts and me standing there like a pleb without one on. We are in our 50's.

I think you'd look better without it, even if you were a size 8 and in your 20s. One of the few positives of the pandemic is no tacky hen or stag dos.

Find out the colour and wear something the same or similar if you have it. Hope the wedding is lovely.

Twickerhun · 16/08/2021 19:37

If it fits could you do anything to make it more flattering? Tucked in? Belt? Cut it into a v neck?

Bluntness100 · 16/08/2021 19:37

Can you be logical? What size are you and what size are the t shirts?

Aww Hen

Hold fire until you try it on. It might be okay you know, your friend wouldn’t throw you under the bus.

You could wear a light jacket over the top, if it really is a bit revealing. If it’s truly tiny, wear one you are comfortable with. Your friends will want you there. You are more important than a matching t shirt. And I speak as a fellow plump middleager.

Slimmingstar · 16/08/2021 19:38

Matching T-shirt’s are part of the awfulness of hen-dos so think yourself lucky if you don’t wear it!

SometimesRavenSometimesParrot · 16/08/2021 19:39

If it’s too small buy a T-shirt same colour but right size, cut the custom bit off the too small too and wonderweb it on. If anyone asks say you dropped the original top on the floor after you’d bleached it and the sleeve was ruined. If you do it carefully shouldn’t be too noticeable on pics

SpeckledlyHen · 16/08/2021 19:39

I don't really know. I am an 18 and I ordered an XL but as everyone knows with clothes sizing and XL could mean anything really.

Try it on tomorrow
If it doesn't fit, hot foot it to Primark and buy a plain black tee (or whatever the style of the top is)
But some Wonderweb
Cut out a square if the wording and wonderweb onto the new top.

MazDazzle · 16/08/2021 19:41

Eurgh. I feel your pain. I’ve got myself into a state so many times over the years over similar situations.

As well as wearing a jacket over it, you could cut into it - cut it up the back to open it out a bit over your tum, or snip under the arms of it’s tight there.

SpeckledlyHen · 16/08/2021 19:41

I am a middle aged woman who is sat here crying over this - ridiculous but I am just feeling so humiliated before even trying on the flipping thing! I think I am just going to wear a white linen shirt and just ignore it all.

Genius idea!

Honestly it’s likely to fit op. Don’t worry youtself, it’s not worth crying over.

Mybalconyiscracking · 16/08/2021 19:44

I wouldn’t wear a tee shirt with a picture on the front, not for anyone I’m afraid, just say no!

riotlady · 16/08/2021 19:45

Ohh OP I feel your pain- I had my hen party a few weeks ago and my friends surprised me with matching Bride/Bridesmaid pjs and mine were too small! It was ok in the end though, I just skipped them and still had w lovely time- proper friends understand

TakeYourFinalPosition · 16/08/2021 19:46

Yep, if it doesn’t fit, Wonderweb it on to a different t shirt. Infact, do that even if you just don’t like the fit.

Don’t stress about this, honestly!

Russell19 · 16/08/2021 19:46

Are the t shirts white as its not really the done thing to wear white on a hen do unless you're the bride.

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 16/08/2021 19:47

Pretty sure that's just the wedding 😂😂
FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 16/08/2021 19:49

Really though OP I feel bad for all attendees - printed tees are cringe and remind me of this scene from the Inbetweeners

Weight and Hen do T-Shirt
Russell19 · 16/08/2021 19:50

Pretty sure lots of hens want to wear white on the hen too.....or maybe that's just my friends 🤣

FelicityBeedle · 16/08/2021 19:52

XL are normally a men’s XL, so it might even fit. Otherwise the womderwen is genius. I don’t blame you for panicking this sort of thing can really get to me

SpeckledlyHen · 16/08/2021 19:52

It is a white T-Shirt - I am going to drive over and collect it now. Husband has just given me a big hug! I have a white linen top which has buttons half way down the front, I think I am just going to wear it underneath that if it is not skin tight.

OP posts:
Hadalifeonce · 16/08/2021 19:55

I wouldn't wear a Hen Do tee shirt whatever size!

pictish · 16/08/2021 19:56

Ugh hen night t-shirts. Ghastly.

I’m a skinny thing now but I didn’t used to be…there was a time when this would have been my worst nightmare. Sympathies. If it were me and the t-shirt was awful, I’d wear my own top.

I don’t get the matching t-shirts thing anyway. So lame.

LordOfTheThings · 16/08/2021 19:58

OP please don't worry about this, it'll most likely be fine. When I went to a friend's 'big' birthday do a couple of years ago I was handed a tee shirt to wear which is literally my worst nightmare (as the whole day was to be honest!). I stuck it on, necked a couple of drinks then I didn't care anyway. 😂

Galassia · 16/08/2021 19:59

I wouldn’t wear one either.

You are not going to stand out like a pleb or whatever it was you said!

People on nights out are too busy having fun to notice what anyone else is wearing.

You are not obliged to wear it whatsoever.
