And I just don't believe PA's excuse that he 'didn't know' about the accusation. I don't think that anyone would normally get within 100 miles of a member of the RF without being thoroughly vetted. Even Prince George's classmates are security vetted before they can play with him.

Either PA wasn't told (in which case his security weren't doing their job and were disciplined which can be explained to us) or he was told & he just didn't care.

sunglassesonthetable · 13/08/2021 10:26

Haven't RTFT but what was a young teenage girl doing in a house with 3 middle aged adults, none of whom are family or family friends, half way round the world from her own home? Just what?

Talking about the infamous London pic of VR and PA.

I hope he gets his arse handed to him.

If you don't want to read the thread, at least read up about this case.

Or he just rode roughshod over the advice given to him. That's my theory. Reading about him over the years, I think that's the norm for him.

Well... his prime defender won't be around for decades so he better get used to the idea that he won't always be protected.

It's said this lawsuit will take 5 years to get decided.

She was taken there by Ghislaine and/or Epstein? Confused
And we have no idea how many more teens were there also

OhGiveUp · 13/08/2021 11:07

@Roussette I've pm you.

From what I have read, I don't think her family are up to much; she was abused by a family member when she was a child so her expectations would have been different to a girl from a caring family. No doubt at one point she saw JE and GM as people who would care for her.

I can't get my head round Ghislane Maxwell, a woman, exploiting young women and girls. A documentary I have been watching, 'Epstein: Ghislane Maxwell's Shadow', is going some way to explaining it.

Roussette · 13/08/2021 11:40

Plumtree look out for the podcast 'Hunting Ghislaine'.
It explains the Maxwell family dynamic in great detail.
There is also a docuseries coming out commissioned by BBC 'The fall of the Maxwell empire'

They are quite a family

I have. Sorry I didn't make myself clear. I realise she was a victim of sex trafficking.

I meant what possible decent excuse could there be?

@DuncinToffee

sunglassesonthetable · 13/08/2021 11:45

@Roussette @Plumtree391

Yep. My post was ironic. I know the story and have read about the case. I realise VR was trafficked.

knittingaddict · 13/08/2021 11:50

There's also a new podcast (I think it's new) on Audible at the moment. It's called Chasing Ghislaine. No idea if it's any good, but might be worth a try.

Can't remember if I've listened to the Hunting Ghislaine one, but I'll have a look today.

Roussette · 13/08/2021 11:53

Knitting yes I said about it to Plumtree it's 'Hunting Ghislaine' and well worth a listen. Fascinating actually. I don't think there's a Chasing Ghislaine?

DerbyshireMama · 13/08/2021 11:56

I absolutely believe her. I hope she gets justice for herself but also in a small part for the millions of other women around the world who've suffered from sexual violence.

Thank you. I looked up 'Hunting Ghislane' and it's a book and podcast (for anyone who doesn't know).

Roussette · 13/08/2021 12:35

Oh wow, thank you Knitting and I apologise!

I did a search on my podcast app and it didn't come up!

(Now off to investigate further)

Roussette · 13/08/2021 12:36

Ahhh... I know why, it's through Amazon Prime so wouldn't come up on my app.

knittingaddict · 13/08/2021 12:37

That's ok. I heard an advert for it on another podcast and looked for it in the usual places too. Then realised it was an Audible one. I might sign up for the free trial just to listen.

knittingaddict · 13/08/2021 12:39

I have Prime, but you can't listen to Audible without paying extra for it. Considering how much listening to podcasts etc I do it would cost a fortune because after one book you have to pay extra for each download. It wasn't worth it to me.

LolaSmiles · 13/08/2021 12:40

knitting It's also on Spotify too.

LolaSmiles · 13/08/2021 12:41

Ignore me it's the Hunting one that's on Spotify. Sorry. Blush

knittingaddict · 13/08/2021 12:43

Two similarly named podcasts about the same subject is really confusing. Grin

KidneyBeans · 13/08/2021 13:11

Truth and lies:Jeffrey Epstein is a very good podcast also - it keeps the focus on him as the perpetrator and has interviews with victims and law enforcement who worked on the case.

Whilst GM absolutely was complicit. I wonder if she also experienced an element if grooming/coercion - firstly from her father, then from Epstein.
It will be interesting to see what cones out at her trial

Roussette · 13/08/2021 13:13

I've always been a bit intrigued with the Maxwells, (not in a good way, just find them as a family somewhat unpleasant)
I'm old so I remember Robert Maxwell's rise to great heights and then his fall and embezzlement of thousands of employees pensions. So shocking at the time.
So I do home in on podcasts and articles about them.

Interestingly... the brothers have set up a website like a Free Ghislaine thing since she's been in prison and I've got a lot of my info from there as to what's going on with the court case.

Roussette · 13/08/2021 13:14

Yes, this is touched upon in the podcast. He was an unpleasant father, and she went for the same sort of man in Epstein.
