What's your favourite ready-made pizza? 🍕

DH is currently on holidays (teacher) and I'm working, so he is doing a lot of the dinners at the moment. Since his cooking is, err, limited, at least one meal a week tends to be pizza chucked in the oven and some salad alongside. We don't have any "regular" (tbh, tends to be whichever is 2-for-1, on special or whatever) but the DC are constantly saying "that one we had last week / on Monday / in April was waaaaay nicer".

So, has anyone got any recommendations? I'm sure someone's going to disapprove of feeding DC pizza but I don't think once a week hurts. No vegan/wholewheat/cauliflower options since DH the kids won't eat!

Another vote for Crosta & Mollica here, Stromboli one is my fave. I can usually get them in my local Tesco Extra store

VanillaSpiceCandle · 09/08/2021 22:32

Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference stone baked ones. They’re big and have really nice toppings. Usually about £4.50. The best I’ve had from the supermarket.

Waitrose No.1 Spicy Calabrian Salami Sourdough Pizza

greenlynx · 09/08/2021 22:34

Co-op Irresistible wood fired pizzas. There are a few in this range, all of them are amazing, better than M&S or Waitrose.

RubyFakeLips · 09/08/2021 22:36

I too love Crosta and Mollica, I like the small foreseen margheritas and put my own toppings on.

Also rate Pizza Express Speciale.

Mrsmchammer · 09/08/2021 22:37

I've taken to getting the mini Tesco garlic and corriander naan and popping them in the oven with some tomato sauce, grated cheese then top with sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, fried chorizo, bacon, ham basically anything depending on the audience. They've been a surprise hit in our house.
Otherwise any of the Good fellas or the Dr Oetker cheese one only

NeverHadANickname · 09/08/2021 22:38

Morrisons used to do one in the chilled counter that was delicious. It was a stuffed crust cheese one and the tomato sauce on it was just so tasty. I don't know if they still do it but that would get my vote.

JackieCollinshasnoauthority · 09/08/2021 22:39

Iceland luxury pizzas. They are rectangular and only cost £1.75 but so tasty. Ham and mushroom is my favourite.

urbanbuddha · 09/08/2021 22:42

Another vote for Co-op Irresistible.

CurryLover55 · 09/08/2021 22:43

I was going to say Iceland wood fired pizzas - haven’t tried them myself but loads of customers recommend them & they’re less than £2. Exotic toppings like hoisin duck.

ChickenTimeBomb · 09/08/2021 22:45

Co-op irresistible or Croats and Mollica

Malteser71 · 09/08/2021 22:48

Rudy’s!

drpet49 · 09/08/2021 22:49

Crosta & Mollica- completely overrated

nauticant · 09/08/2021 22:52

This is the voice of reason:

They do a stine baked ham mushroom and marscapone one in basically every shop now

Waitrose do a lovely version of this which is currently 25% off:

The La Reine Pizza Express pizza is also pretty decent, especially when Tesco or Ocado are selling them for £2.50.

Kanaloa · 09/08/2021 22:52

I love Chicago town plain cheese, they’re so soft and delicious. DS11 was pretty disappointed last week when I said it was pizza for tea and whipped that out though, think he was expecting domino’s!

BringBackDoves · 09/08/2021 22:54

Crosta & Mollica - in fact had the stromboli one for tea tonight and it was lovely.

NotWanting · 09/08/2021 22:57

I only really like the Pizza express ones.. when at half price.

longtompot · 09/08/2021 22:58

@ShaunaTheSheep

Another vote for the Chicago Town tomato stuffed crust. The dough is frozen uncooked, and it's surprisingly nice.
I love this one, but have to cook it on a tray as it splits as it thaws/cooks. But op said they don't rate them. I could do with a slice now :)

If you have a Co-Op near you their own brand pizzas are really nice. Lots of interesting toppings. I particularly like the one with the tiny peppers. They also did a chicken curry topping which was surprisingly good.

Geluksvogel · 09/08/2021 22:58

Crosta & M - we buy their base from sainso and then add our own toppings.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 09/08/2021 22:59

I like the Waitrose Essentials one - I add a bit of extra mozzarella and fresh tomatoes to it. The base goes really crispy.

Jourdain11 · 09/08/2021 23:05

Are the pizza express ones actually good? They look a bit underwhelming to me, somehow!

Holshicup · 09/08/2021 23:05

Apologies for the pretty vague discription but tescos has a range (chilled not frozen) where you get 2 huge pizzas, choice of 2 sides and dips for £10
Definitely a treat night but the pizza range is by far the nicest we have tried.

Jourdain11 · 09/08/2021 23:08

Good to hear the Co-op feedback! I go past a Co-op on the way to/from work so that's an easy one for us to try Smile

So glad it isn't only me who dislikes M&S pizzas. I thought I had unsophisticated taste buds or something.

So pleased and surprised to get replies on this super mundane topic. I'm half tempted to do the same for milk chocolate, since we have similar familial disagreement 😃

beigebrownblue · 09/08/2021 23:08

It's really not that difficult to make your own. Save ten pounds a shot at least for a family.

If you have a kitchen processor throw ingredients in. Wait and do somehting else.

Fresh ingredients on top.

Once you get the hang of it way quicker than ordering...

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 09/08/2021 23:12

I like the !&S wood fired ones, but we do often get Pizza Express when they are on offer. Our local small Tesco were doing a PE meal deal recently with a main (pasta or pizza), side, and a pudding for £8.
