yes, recently. we had already been low contact but the last selfish thing they did was the worst ever. I'm done

We are invited a big birthday party the hosts were going to cater for. They asked how many of us are going so they'd know how much stuff to buy.
Then last week, out of the blue, we were told we are all supposed to take food or drink, which surprised me, and when I asked what I should bring I was told "whatever you want to make".
Make??? WTAF? I thought we are turning up to a party and that's it, as per usual.
now I'm not only essentially paying for our share I'm supposed to make stuff?
AIBU to be angry at this CF attitude and am I justified to tell the kids to eat their body weight to make my money's worth?

🤣 it's actually 6 boys & a girl. 4 teenagers, but even they younger ones can eat a lot.
This is no news to the hosts and it's not the first time we've been invited - and when it said "picnic/BYO" on invite I had no issues.
But this was weird.

Putting pyjamas on, making a flask of hot chocolate and driving round to see all the Christmas lights. Or the Santa train! I'm excited for Christmas now 🤣

No never even tried smoking. One of my best friends from my childhood tried to get me to start when we were about 12 and he is still trying to give up smoking

Unfortunately yes- gave up a few years ago.

Good qualities that I value. Sounds a bit twee but I guess the values I try to instil in my kids are kindness, respect for others, integrity and perseverance.

He can take offence at something I've said, when absolutely none was meant.
