Strange dislikes

What strange dislikes do you have, but you don’t know anyone else who feels the same?

I hate it when someone touches my knees 🙈

Me too OP. I hate having my knees touched, especially the side of the kneecap. DH thinks it's hilarious.

I don't like massages so it's really annoying when (pre Covid) people would come up and take it upon themselves to massage my shoulders.

Finally the blow drying bit of a hair cut. Goes on forever!

Socks with no shoes, has to be bare feet or shoes on and anything between my toes, can't abide flip flops!
But the strangest is cold tea or coffee - if it has milk in, for some reason the texture makes me want to vomit. I'm fine with hot stuff, or cold milk that's not been in tea/coffee, it's just the combination of the milk in a hot drink that's gone cold.

@TheUnexpectedPickle and @Galassia I also can't stand wooden lolly sticks. I'd rather go without. The thought of one even potentially touching my mouth makes me feel ill, and paper straws are the devil's work, I can't.

Unexpectedly seeing someone in sandals, I always have to try to not look at their feet too much. I feel like they should have prepared me for meeting their feet for the first time.
Painted toenails too, they look so lurid on pale feet, like clown makeup.

Cotton Wool. Even thinking about it freaks me out, like chalk on a blackboard. When my lot were babies one midwife thought it was hilarious I wouldn't use it.

The tooth squeak of someone chewing their sleeves. I went to school with a girl who was forever chewing her clothes, particularly school sweatshirt and a knitted jumper sticks out in my memory. Just thinking about it and the squeaks it used to make against her teeth still give me goosebumps, almost 20 years later.

Can't stand people touching my food, helping themselves, touching the cutlery I'm going to eat with (on the actual eating ends, not the handles). Comes from a brother and his wife/friends who all share from their plates and touch each others food for tastes when eating out or at home without washing hands first 🤢 a friend has those Mason type like glasses with straws on that she always uses for cold drinks. She doesn't have a straw brush so just washes the end and offers them to all... I can't do it 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

I was a carer for a grandfather who just didn't wash, even when leaving the bathroom for both uses. His worst was 2 full weeks of no washing during the height of summer sleeping in the clothes too. He "had capacity" (ha!) so I wasn't able to do anything and as a result of this (and growing up with him never /rarely washing and always smelling) I have serious personal hygiene hang ups. I can't stand feeling even slightly dirty.

Fabric sofas make me feel sick. Most people know this about me, I will sit on the floor.
Cold fabric.
Touching any type of cloth material when wet. Taking out the laundry makes me squirm.

Wet food when its not made wet. So for instance if you are having a curry, the rice touching the curry sauce. Pizza, chips and beans. Beans cannot touch pizza or chips. Do not get me started on spaghetti bolognese!

People eating. The sound of somebody chewing makes me instantly angry. I have to put a radio or tv on. This is also when people drink and I hear them swallow. Yet if they slurp their drink...doesn't bother me.

When somebody is lifting something heavy, they make that strained noise. I am pretty sure I do the same. But it makes me want to punch them. If I am helping to move heavy furniture and the person I am helping makes that noise I almost drop said furniture. I now hum to myself. Which is probably annoying for the other person.

I have so many.

Ladyrattles My DD is exactly the same! She absolutely cannot bear touching cotton wool. She thought she was the only one! She says it's the way it 'squeaks' that sets her on edge.

I hate it when I see a car with only one headlight working. It freaks me out and makes me go all shivery, no idea why

I don't like seeing people scrolling on a touch screen. It makes me feel sick. I have to look away from anyone using a smartphone or tablet. I use an old fashioned Nokia with just buttons to avoid doing it. I think I was born a couple of generations too late.

For people who hate having their hair touched: I feel your pain.

I have natural 'sproingy' ringlets and people (even fucking STRANGERS) ALWAYS try to touch my hair.

At least now, as an adult, I can duck out of the way or growl at them until they back off: it was hell as a child (I was blonde until I was around nine, too, which made it worse, for some reason).

DO NOT TOUCH OTHER PEOPLE'S HAIR WITHOUT THEIR EXPRESS CONSENT.

Beds without sheets 🤢
Duvets/pillows with no covers 🤢
Labels especially the ones on Duvets and pillows I have to cut them off (there's a bit of a theme here)
Stickers
Plasters
Wet paper
Skin
I have misophonia so most noises but I also can't stand the sight of someone biting their nail, chewing, jiggling there legs, rubbing their feet together etc and I don't know if its linked.
I also have tripophobia 🤢
I hadn't heard of either of these terms (misophonia and tripohobia) before joining mumset and couldn't belive their was names for these things. I thought I was just weird and never told anyone about it. It makes me feel better though knowing it is an actual issue and lots of other people have the same thing.

Stepping on something like cooked spaghetti or wet cereal when wearing socks!

As another PP, wooden lolly sticks or any kind of wooden cutlery. Bleurgh, such a horrible feeling to eat off rough wooden utensils.

Having my belly button touched (even by myself!)

I have misophonia though funnily enough it's been a bit better this year, despite being holed up with DP 24/7...!

People sticking tongues out for fun, usually for a photo. Not a good look, most tongues are horrible!

I agree with this @Clawdy I cannot bear seeing tongues stuck out in photos. I hate both full on vulgar tongue right out and just cheeky tip showing. Its like I can't unsee it and i find it so irritating

The feel of anything chalky (good fun as an art student using charcoal etc), so I hate the feel of walls painted with matte paint, or how unpainted terracotta feels. Some wooden cutlery gives me the same feeling, I've never been able to use wooden spoons unless I can put some fabric or something in between my skin and the wood.

I second the wooden lolly sticks, and also chip forks and wooden spoons in my mouth. Literally makes my mouth itch🤷‍♀️
Also seconding the touching of my belly button… Even by me! Ds belly button after birth made me heave.
Can’t bear the smell of hot metal, like in garages, welding etc. Also the sound of scraping metal.
Honey or brown sauce on me, have to get it off right then and there!
Wet cuffs… the top has to be tsken off, can’t bear the way they cling!
Anyone tapping, like a pencil or cutlery on a table etc Aaargh!!!
I’m a tad intolerant😁
