🎵 Every day I hear a different story
People sayin' that you’re no good for me
Saw your lover with another
And she’s making a fool of you, oh

🎵 If you love me baby, you'd deny it
But you laugh and tell me I should try it
Tell me I’m a baby, and I don't understand

Go Wham!

Wore a mask for the short taxi journey from my parents back to mine last night. Put it on before i got in the cab and the taxi driver started on about how loosening the restrictions is a problem because "Covid is still here" All while wearing his own mask under his chin. I resisted the temptation to tell him the Spanish flu is still here but did explain it would be worse to wait until the winter because its flu season. And that people wont keep having bloody jabs if they see nothing changing.

Thanks for the good wishes re. the shed. It looks ok. The lid looks straight

chocolatesweets · 18/07/2021 17:12

@Jourdain11 thank you. I needed that 😭

There were seriously times when I considered selling mine on eBay. I think when they were about 5-2 age range!

Ooh the kitty and the tortoise. Such sweet little faces. Bear Bear

BogRollBOGOF · 18/07/2021 18:31

Good to see you again Jourdain. Hope DD is OK, I remember her really struggling a year ago.

Had quite a decent weekend, mainly revolving around beating the heat. Went walking in some woods late yesterday afternoon. Been pokemoning in town today. Sounds like McDonalds will unclench a bit from tomorrow with masks requested only at the counter or when talking direct to staff. I suppose the average age of an employee is likely to be between vaccine 1 & 2.

I'm relieved thar it looks like vaccines for 12-18s will be targeted to vulnerable children/ households only for now. DS1 will be 11 by the end of the year so not far off the age range and I would like a clearer risk-benefit for healthy children before making that decision for others. I have also been concerned that we're building up a picture of political coercion rather than free medical choice, and don't want to see that being applied to u18s.

Just 10 days until I go see my family. Been out shopping for summer clothes and sun cream and the usual stuff and had a nice lunch out. But I still can't quite get excited. After the whole France fiasco this weekend. I feel like any optimism I had is gone.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 18/07/2021 19:16

Malakaaaaaaaaaas

chocolatesweets · 18/07/2021 19:24

@Jourdain11 😂🙈 I've just been for an hour's drive in the car, windows down, country music blasting and now I'm having a glass of red. Better now 😂

Sorry to bring you all down but can I have a rant please? I am furious with my church! We have not been since they closed places of worship last year, even when they reopened they weren't really right to take a 3 year old, 4 year old and 10 year old. We got a message today in the WhatsApp group from the church warden asking what people wanted to happen once restrictions had been removed. One woman, who I know, respect and like responded almost straight away saying she wanted things to stay as they are. Her husband then posted a long and considerate response saying that he understood there needed to be a balance between those who were nervous and those who wanted to move forward so he had a few suggestions. Two other people, mothers of children aged 10 and 13 I believe, also said they wanted us to move slowly forward. The one that really annoyed me was the one that then responded by saying she thought we should go slowly at reducing restrictions, even though she HASN'T BEEN BACK TO CHURCH YET! She said she felt we should be considerate of those who are vulnerable and need to shield etc, and as far as I am aware, she is not. Why should someone who hasn't attended yet as they don't feel safe even with all the mitigations in place have a say at removing any restrictions? Have got so cross I have actually exited the group!

NeedWineNow · 18/07/2021 20:04

Can I confess? I went to the pub today and (whispers) I didn't check in!

Such a rebel Grin

DrRamsesEmerson · 18/07/2021 20:32

@NeedWineNow, I've been to quite a few places since May and I'm noticing that fewer and fewer of them are asking for details. I've never had the app, so...meh. I tested when asked for DD's music exam (me and her), all the while thinking how much the entire class was going to hate me if she tested positive! Mercifully all negative, she had her exam (and passed with Merit, so much better than doing it online as a video recording, which depends mainly on the technical skill of the parent).

WouldBeGood · 18/07/2021 20:44

I never check in anywhere 🤷🏻‍♀️

TabbyStar · 18/07/2021 20:48

Hello everyone, I've been really busy with work, trying to make up all the income I lost last year, so I also disappeared for a bit.

I don't have the app, old phone wouldn't download it, and only once or twice I've been asked for written details - though I'm not sure that bit of the system actually works at all.

I'm interested to see how many people don't wear masks tomorrow. Also I'm infuriated by all the bloody virtue signalling around "I'm going to carry on wearing my mask to protect other people because I'm not selfish". Good for them, just get on and do it then, it doesn't need announcing!

BogRollBOGOF · 18/07/2021 21:02

I bet they'll all be wearing them on the school playground roasting away in the morning. Plus they don't even believe that it's helpful in that situation Confused

So glad I drew my line there in the first place. I was wearing visors indoors at the point that that one was bought in, and a visor outdoors is beyond ridiculous tokenism. It was a couple of months later when the panic attacks got the better of me and became far too regular when I stopped attempting to cover my face.

Thank you IRanSoFarAway1,
I appreciate you listening to me! I hope everything is OK for you at the shops tomorrow. My local area has had declining mask compliance for a while so I really don't think it will be a big deal here- I think it will slowly fizzle out but there are certain areas that are more rigid about it so I can see why you might feel nervous. As an aside, I am dreadfully sunburnt and not coping too well in this heat!! Also rubbish at DIY so if I had the money I would definitely be a GALMI person (get a little man in, I think that was a phase in the mid/late 90s!!)

Hello all, not seen you for ages! Quick place mark for now, back later.

110APiccadilly · 18/07/2021 21:30

@IRanSoFarAway1 If you bought the place I linked on the other thread, I don't think you'd have any neighbours at all!

@smallandimperfectlyformed I have some similar issues with church. I find myself having to bite my tongue very hard so I don't go round asking people when they stopped believing in heaven (or, if I was really wound up, "the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting").

I really try very hard to avoid criticising church as so many people have a problem with it at the best of times and I do feel protective of it - it's where people who share my faith go after all! However I think this is the straw that broke the camels back, even when I joined the church back in 98 people were talking about lessening attendance of youngsters. They couldn't have made it any clearer how little importance young people and children are, the entire pandemic we have had no sermons or services specifically for children. Perhaps I will find a new church which actually remembers its commitment to all of it's parishioners, not just the ones who are loudly complaining about how unsafe they feel. I have been worshipping at this one for 11 years though so it hurts!
Thanks IRanSoFarAway1 I got some aloe Vera gel yesterday, it's helping a bit.

chocolatesweets · 18/07/2021 22:54

@smallandimperfectlyformed Thanks you'll find somewhere better to worship. So awful.

MercyBooth · 18/07/2021 22:54

Expecting to see photos from some of the nightclubs on Twitter after midnight.

WouldBeGood · 18/07/2021 22:58

I’ll be jealous @MercyBooth🤣
