🎵 Every day I hear a different story
People sayin' that you’re no good for me
Saw your lover with another
And she’s making a fool of you, oh

🎵 If you love me baby, you'd deny it
But you laugh and tell me I should try it
Tell me I’m a baby, and I don't understand

Go Wham!

It's the opticians I litterally can't face going to. I don't see how I can do an eye test when I automatically avert making eye contact with a masked face. I was overdue anyway and my glasses are past their best.

Glad it's not just me who involuntarily does that.

Freezer question: If you make a sauce and want to freeze it, what is a good container to use?

Worldgonecrazy · 24/08/2021 10:22

Freezer bag. Put into a jug, fill bag, seal bag.job done.

ISaySteadyOn · 24/08/2021 10:31

The jug in the bag or pour the sauce in the bag from the jug? Total newb at freezering so forgive the stupid questions!

Worldgonecrazy · 24/08/2021 10:41

Sorry. Put bag in jug enduringly top of bag is folded over top of jug, then fill bag and seal whilst it is in the jug. Squeeze out as much air as possible before sealing.

Worldgonecrazy · 24/08/2021 10:43

Let’s change the narrative. Instead of 32,000 cases why not 32,000 more attained natural immunity today ……

Curlygirl06 · 24/08/2021 10:54

Epic broccoli!
In other news, when my grandson and I went to the park there were 95 geese, yesterday when I took 3 grandchildren to the park there were only 11. Breaking news!

ISaySteadyOn · 24/08/2021 11:26

thanks, @Worldgonecrazy

Especially as it's weighted towards younger low-risk people.

There's a weird disconnect between numbers of cases and seeing evidence in RL. I'm sure we'll get it at some point, and there's no point in fretting about it.

BogRollBOGOF if you told the opticians that you struggled with masks they may offer to see you without wearing one. I had got it wrong, the optician I saw has an English accent! I got to take my mask off to try new glasses. That's £180 I have to spend now, well I have paid £90 now and will pay some more in the next few weeks. Curlygirl06 the only interesting wildlife I saw today was a cheeky little starling wandering around the bread and eggs aisle in Tesco!!

FatLadySang · 24/08/2021 23:15

@ISaySteadyOn

Good luck with the optician today!

I am going to a friend's house in two weeks time but to get there, I have to take public transport. I am ok on the overground but I am worried about the tube in terms of dementoriness. Anyone have words of reassurance?

I have used tube several times over the past few days and noticeably fewer people wearing masks now. Definitely no issues with dementors that I saw.
ISaySteadyOn · 25/08/2021 08:18

Thanks everyone. Will probably be less scary than the films we will watch.Wink

We were planning our term for a youth group last night... all pretty much normal! Let's hope we can actually carry it out...

Hi all!

Just catching up, we’ve had back to back houseguests so I haven’t been on MN all that much. Currently got two days before the next people arrive so I’ve got some time to make beds and across through the threads under Coronavirus to see how nutty it is.

CruCru · 25/08/2021 10:17

There’s some stuff about a festival in Cornwall and how people are being asked not to go to Cornwall unless they have a holiday booking. The thing is, if people go there without a booking, they won’t have anywhere to stay. Pretty much everywhere is full - I think they even need a booking to go camping.

That is a very furry cat. I grew up with cats but our life doesn’t really let us have one, which is a shame.

ISaySteadyOn · 25/08/2021 14:05

Her fur is really really soft and silky. I grew up with cats too but none of the cats I grew up with had fur as soft as hers. I love her to pieces and she keeps me sane-ish Smile
