One finger? Two fingers? Whole hand?!

I go with the whole hand. I'd like to be a 2 finger person but I worry about not getting it right and looking weird. You have to keep your fingers together if you're using 2.

Just thought about it this morning as I was at it non stop down the 15 mile one lane road to Loch Etive.

So how do you thank other drivers? Anybody do the grin and 2 thumbs up "fandabidozy" style?

Whole hand but the heel of my hand stays on the wheel, plus a nod.

Nod and smile to acknowledge a thanks.

When I’m driving with the roof down I stick my hand up & wave over the top of the windscreen.

So so reading most of these replies, I keep my index and thumb on the wheel and put the other 3 up in salute.

I might shake things up a bit tomorrow with a Live Long & Prosper or a Metal!

Variety and all that.

I just raise 4 fingers without taking my hand off the steering wheel.

Heel of hand stays on wheel and I raise, I guess, four fingers, and nod and smile. I usually just nod and smile in response to a thank you.
I used to sometimes give a friend a lift and she drove me mad giving a full arm salute from the passengers seat. I'm not sure if I ever told her how much it irritated me.

1 finger if it's just slowing down to pass in a wide place, 4 fingers if they've actually stopped/reversed/got onto the side.

Full hand if I'm in the tractor + smile if they've reversed for any great distance.

None of you are from around this way, where people just stare STRAIGHT AHEAD and refuse to acknowledge you. I actually do a whole series of wild thank you gestures with my hands, arms, mouth, flashing of lights - especially if they don't say thank you when I'm letting THeM through.

Whole hand, a smile and I say thankyou - even though they clearly can't hear me!

But I shall probably blush too next time remembering you rude lot!

Sometimes I do a couple of fingers, sometimes I like to put my hand right up and if the person has let me go all the way I like to mouth thankyou at them while putting my hand up
