All born between 1908 and 1918. One died in the late 60s, long before I was born. The others are all long gone now too.

I know a few people who've been researching their family tree during Lockdown. Would love to get round to it if I ever have the time (not furloughed).

My DGD was born in 2016 over 140 years between 2 generations.

My Grandfather was 56 by the time my Mum was born though, and she was the youngest of 8.

RampantIvy · 20/06/2021 06:31

1866, 1874, 1888, 1890.
My parents were born in 1909 and 1918.

My Grandfather was born in a croft in the Highlands. One of ten, only 4 made it to adulthood. The croft was two rooms with an outside privy. All the family were gone from the croft into Glasgow by 1910. They lived there in a two room tenement. He left school at 12. He was a manual worker on the docks. His first wife died in childbirth with their first child and he didn't marry my Grandmother till he was 42. He had moved back to the Highlands by then and was working as a Shepherd. Grannie was working in a laundry.

DGD was born in a modern hospital in the South West of England. She is and will be a only child. Both parents are University Educated and work in professional jobs and own their own 4 bed house. My DS was 38 when she was born. DDIL is South African and came here on her own at age 18. She was 32 when DGD was born.

What a long way the world has come between the generations.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 20/06/2021 07:44

Maternal grandparents born 1940 and 1942. NC with paternal grandparents since childhood so I don't actually know.

I'm nearly 31, I'm the eldest of their grandchildren. My grandmother is dead now but she knew my DS, her first great grandchild until he was 18 months old. My grandfather is alive and well.

Dualipasuction · 20/06/2021 09:51

We have a few weird generation 'glitches' in our family, like people with uncles who are younger than they are.

We have that too. My MGM had babies fir most of her fertile years so by the time she was having the last ones, the older ones had families of their own.
