1943,1944,1944,1945

felulageller · 19/06/2021 11:50

The 19 noughties.

Most people I meet have grandparents born in the 60s and they have no idea how different it is!

Rae36 · 19/06/2021 11:51

All in the 1920s. My gran is still here and in great form. I hope I have inherited mostly her genes

RosesAndHellebores · 19/06/2021 11:52

Paternal mid 1890s
Maternal 1910 ish
I am 61.

Maternal was the same for DH. Paternal about 1890. FIL was the youngest. Father, mother, MIL, DH and I are all the first born.

Tlollj · 19/06/2021 11:53

Grandad 1886
Grandma 1884
Only knew my maternal ones.

Ughmaybenot · 19/06/2021 11:59

Maternal side, I think grandmother was 1937 and grandfather was 1921 I believe. I wouldn’t be able to say for sure tho, despite being very close to them.
I don’t know, is the honest answer for my paternal grandparents. They aren’t/weren’t good people.

DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat · 19/06/2021 12:02

DH 1901, 1897 and 1901, 1899
Me 1910,1913 and 1920, 1922
(DHs mum was born in 1926 so similar age to my DGM which makes sense as he’s 20 years older than me)

AndeanMountainCat · 19/06/2021 12:06

1900-ish, 1903, 1917, 1925. They all died in that order too.

My maternal granny was only 4 years older than my dad!

SnottyLottie · 19/06/2021 12:12

1926, 1926, 1926, 1926.

Paternal grandfather is still going strong at 94 😍

Mammyofasuperbaby · 19/06/2021 12:24

1924, 1929, 1937 and 1940
My great grandparents were born in 1890, 1896, 1912 and 1915.
There's 10 years diffrence between my parents. My dms side were all late teens/early 20s when they had children where as my paternal grandfather was one of the youngest as is my father.

DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat · 19/06/2021 12:37

Also, both DH’s GFs fought in the First World War, one of whom was significantly too young to do so but obviously lied about his age, recruiting sergeants obviously weren’t too bothered (circa 250,000 underage boys signed up) but, just for good measure, he lied about his surname too. Presumably after having a war record he had ‘proof’ of his name and consequently that is now my DHs surname rather than the original family name. I’m not sure why he did that, I know many foreign born soldiers would change their name to a more anglicised one, but his original name was clearly a Scottish surname. DH remembers him and knows the story but never thought to ask him why. I often wish we could have a conversation with the ‘Victorians’ in our ancestory, so many things we would love to know now that we were too young and disinterested to ask when we had the chance!

christinarossetti19 · 19/06/2021 12:48

I'm not sure because they'd all died before I was born, but I know that my material grandparents were born in the 19th century, my grandmother in 1891.

amusedbush · 19/06/2021 13:33

I’m 31.

1930, 1933, 1935, 1937.

MustardRose · 19/06/2021 13:41

Two in 1884, two in 1896.

CthulhuInDisguise · 19/06/2021 13:46

1930, 1928, 1915, 1927

Fifthtimelucky · 19/06/2021 14:34

All my grandparents were Victorians.

One set: 1895 and 1899
The other set: 1892 and 1893

susiella · 19/06/2021 14:50

MatDGF - 1900
MatDGM - 1910
PatDGF - 1901
Pat DGM - 1906
I'm 60

merryhouse · 19/06/2021 14:53

1907, 1908; 1911, 1912. Interestingly, grandmother older in each case.

Parents 1931 and 1939.

StColumbofNavron · 19/06/2021 14:55

@StCharlotte they have birth certificates that were issued when the notary person came through the village but that was sporadic so a DOB and identification exists so they did have passports etc but just not necessarily with accurate info.

They were also born in a country that didn’t have surnames in the western sense until 1920s. You were Doris daughter of Thomas/the blacksmith

Juanbablo · 19/06/2021 15:00

1933, 1939 and 1940.

Babdoc · 19/06/2021 15:09

Gosh, this makes me feel terribly old!
My grandfather was born in 1882 and died in 1926, so I never even met him. My mother was born in the middle of the first world war.

filka · 19/06/2021 15:16

DGPs:
1879
1882
1901
1896

First two (PatGPs) died just before I was born, last one when I was 5, third (MatGF) when I was 12. I knew him quite well, he used to take me on the bus up to the big museums in London.

Grenlei · 19/06/2021 15:24

1896
1899
1910
1911

One died before I was born, the others all before I was 18.

nyoman · 19/06/2021 15:30

My GF was born in 1885, and my younger sibling is not yet 40 (for a few years!)
Generations are looooong in my family

yikesanotherbooboo · 19/06/2021 15:35

1894-1901 .
