I need to watch something and cry!

I’ve been dumped by my boyfriend (who’s also a colleague) and am gutted, but also have to go into work tomorrow where everyone will be talking about it.

What can I watch so I can get some of this out?!

I’ve watched the friends reunion this afternoon which has helped slightly, but I need to up the ante now! Any suggestions?

I know someone that made themselves a cake that said "fuck you xxxxx" on top when they were dumped. Cathartic and delicious.

This is Us on Prime

It's 5 seasons long so far but will make you sob on a regular basis.

I watched the last episode in season 5 last night and was doing proper big ugly sobs, not because of anything particularly in plot but because it just makes you resonate emotionally with so many of the characters.

@rogdmum

Cinema Paradiso except it’s so bad for me now that I start sobbing as soon as the music comes on within the first couple of minutes and don’t stop until about an hour after the film has finished. 😂
I’m the same with Goodbye Mr Chips (original only) I cry at the start because I know what’s coming, I cry when they are mean to him, I cry when they are nice to him, I cry when Greer and .Robert are happy because I know what’s coming........then it gets to the really sad bit and I howl...... then along comes the other sad bits so I cry, then it gets to the end and I can’t even see it or breathe through my tears and snot.

Have you watched Il Postino? That’s another weepie.

groundcontroltomontydon · 13/06/2021 20:33

Just watched Sometimes Always Never - funny and dark and sad (there's a 'second best' theme that touched a nerve and made me blub).
Or maybe just watch a John Lewis Christmas ad.

Marley and Me makes me cry EVERY time.

TheVanguardSix · 13/06/2021 21:11

The Rider
Nomadland

And series-wise, Shtisel.

About Time and Marley and Me always makes me cry. I didn't see it coming the first time I watched About Time. I was a mess. The Notebook is also a great one for a good cry. Up is a good go-to - especially if you need to watch a film when your lo is awake and with you.

dontputitinyourmouth · 13/06/2021 21:57

Cool runningsBlush
Patch Adams
Pay It Forward

These all make me sob

smudgemylife · 13/06/2021 22:01

Bit dark but Schindler's list always breaks my heart, but seeing the room full of all the people he saved at the end always uplifts me and makes it more palatable

sociallydistained · 13/06/2021 22:02

Beaches! Always makes me think of my best friend and how important she is to me 😭

RolloTomassi · 13/06/2021 22:24

Meet Joe Black. Very emotional, but not a downer, plus eye candy!
