Flags out for Euros 2020 ?

Anyone decorated houses/gardens with flags?

I’ve got bunting in the garden for today’s barbecue. Uncovered a huge flag, didn’t know we had it!

Live in a huge new building estate and nobody has flags up at all here. Feel quite patriotic this year after this bloody pandemic!

Anyone else got flags up or opinions on not having them up?

We love our flag in Wales. I put ours out yesterday and will probably leave it there for the duration. You can’t go far in Wales without seeing the flag football or no football.

Samcro · 13/06/2021 12:41

do it
I hate football, but why english people can't put a flag up to show support of their team, is beyond me.

RunningFromInsanity · 13/06/2021 12:44

Yes I have the flag hanging out the top window and my England scarf in the downstairs window.

Can’t wait for kick off!

newnortherner111 · 13/06/2021 12:45

Hardly anyone could see, and after the abject performance of the Welsh yesterday, not sure I'd want to.

RaspberryCoulis · 13/06/2021 12:47

Absolutely not. Never ever.

Flying the Saltire in Scotland is purely for people who love the SNP.

Flags and bunting for a football tournament is about as naff and tacky as it gets.

bonfireheart · 13/06/2021 12:50

The more people say its naff and tacky, the more it makes me want to do it. Feels so snobbish. Wannabe hyacinth buckets.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 13/06/2021 12:50

Not yet but by Friday we will. It seems to be only the English flag which is sneered at, other countries seem to be able to fly their flags with pride.

TheQueef · 13/06/2021 12:54

As a balance.
When I see flags I think sport not racist.

I think it's a massive leap.

No, I sneer at Saltire-flyers too. But perhaps for different reasons.
Sillyduckseverywhere · 13/06/2021 13:02

I think it's tacky.

Blueeyedgirl21 · 13/06/2021 13:11

Naff and tacky 😂

I’d love to see your houses and what you look like. People who try hard NOT to be be ‘naff and tacky’ are often quite tragic in their own ways. I know a woman like this. Won’t even let her son play football for a local team . He does bouldering or some other ‘cool’ outdoorsy sport. She’s an absolute tool who dresses in a way she thinks is ‘eco friendly’ etc and looks a mess all the time. Her house smells weird and kids don’t want to play with her (lovely) sons. She would gasp audibly at a flag, football on the wide screen tv and beer drinking.

AramintaArrowsmith · 13/06/2021 13:13

No, thankfully I live in an area where it's not something people do.

Blueeyedgirl21 · 13/06/2021 13:16

I’m from a place that is football mad, working class, northern as you can get. Pubs decorate for football, people get their faces painted etc, there’s a great atmosphere. Unfortunately it’s being gentrified, hipster coffee shops populated by awful people from out of the area are popping up and they judge locals for being well, working class and enjoying themselves. DONT MOVE HERE THEN, stick to London or Totnes or whatever organic hellhole you came from. Can you tell it pisses me off no end

SquashMinusIsShit · 13/06/2021 13:16

E were out in the car earlier & DH was disappointed by the lack of flags Grin

I know, who the fuck cares right?! It's like the people who have a big store because wheely bins are so unsightly Grin

Why 'thankfully'? What is so bad about it?

I live in a very nice, quaint village a d lots of people have bunting and flags up. It's lovely

redtshirt50 · 13/06/2021 13:32

In Ireland when the Irish football tournaments are on people go flag crazy!

Their county's flags are everywhere. I think it's good fun.

I don't have a flag to put out, but I have been known to get my nails done as flags for the big tournaments

Orcadianrythyms · 13/06/2021 13:35

I'd think a racist lives there - sorry but that's my honest answer.

Are you always so judgemental?
sunshineandshowers21 · 13/06/2021 13:37

yep, everyone round here has got flags and bunting up. all the kids in england kits. then again i do live on a council estate so we’re all obviously rough, common, tacky, racist… 🙄

IheartJKR · 13/06/2021 13:38

You’ve just reminded me op.

I’ve just popped several in my plant pots just in time 🇬🇧

What if it was a Scottish flag, or a Welsh one or an Irish or Spanish one? Would it be racist then or are only English flags racist?
TheDevils · 13/06/2021 13:40

I've just spent half an hour painting England flags on all the kids faces that live in the houses near us ..... would you assume they are all racist too?
StacysMomMandyJessiesEx · 13/06/2021 13:43

I don’t know why you’d think I’m racist….. @Orcadianrythyms…towards whom? Do you know which flag I’m putting up? Maybe that would change things, I don’t know
