Hi all........

OP posts:

Yep all to consider, I am quite lucky I started working with TPRO before the rate was dropped so have been making a steady income with them and know the average work I can get through in a day if I was full time

Whitestar5 · 26/11/2021 13:36

Hi all, is all Tpro work from Irish hospitals/healthcare?

carosel2 · 26/11/2021 22:58

Its okay Dict8 saying poor dictation has been picked up on and being dealt with and if any is constant then to make a note to sec (something we have been chastised for in the past) but I am just getting all of the shit dictation day in day out that has been no different for months, eventually the tasks do go down but where are the good ones I used to type, they never seem to come up anymore. I may get the odd one thrown in but if we are all typing the same shit in our specialities why arent I getting any good ones. Someone must be typing them. Im logging in to full clinics of same doctor, same hospital that is producing shocking dictation from all doctors day in day out

Whitestar5 · 27/11/2021 00:52

@carosel2 Perhaps most of the good dictation is being kept by the secretaries at the hospitals and the sh*t is being farmed out to DICT8 (understandably!), unfortunately for us. I don't think things will improve until people are taught how to dictate clearly, without background noise and with fully functioning equipment instead of crackly old dictaphones.

Gally123 · 27/11/2021 08:32

@carosel2 - the good stuff goes to DICT8's favoured typists, the ones that say they earn good money, while the rest of us scrabble for the pennies. Far from the sh*t dictation being dealt with, I am finding it has been worse. I really do not think that the powers that be in DICT8 really know what we have to deal with; they should take the time and listen to some of the dictation and find out for themselves. Then they might actually take action.

KAnthony · 27/11/2021 08:59

@Gally123 Dict8 don’t pick and choose who gets what typing, they’ve reiterated this before in an email sent out that it all goes to everyone in the list and the same 5 jobs are available to all, it’s just a case of right place, right time

Gally123 · 27/11/2021 09:04

@KAnthony - do you really think anyone believes that?

KAnthony · 27/11/2021 09:10

@Gally123 why wouldn’t they? There’s a lot more typists with Dict8 then there are on this discussion, maybe they’re also taking on more new ones so if people aren’t sat at their computer waiting for the tasks to come though then they risk the chance of getting the good ones.

deewu · 27/11/2021 09:29

Okay so if you get five really poor quality tasks (which I have a few times recently but I usually try and do and couple) that you can hardly hear, work out, goldfish bowl etc. just send the task numbers to Dict8 (or at least three of the five) they will have a listen and advise accordingly. I did this yesterday and was asked by Dict8 to send back the tasks as they were unsafe to transcribe, obviously you need their permission to do so!

Gally123 · 27/11/2021 10:36

@deewu - there seems to be a change in policy here; several times in the past I have been emailed by she who cannot be named and asked to type tasks that have been on the list for a day or so as they have been left by people due to poor quality and she asks for these to be typed to free up the system and comments "will need a lot of notes" ie comments of "I am unsure of this word" etc. So now, they are telling us these tasks are "unsafe to transcribe!" Surely they can discover this by seeing that these tasks have been left for over 24 hours. If they monitor the system and see tasks are left or rejected by people they should automatically send them back to the hospital to be redictated properly.

deewu · 27/11/2021 13:00

@Gally123 I agree, I cannot understand why they cannot monitor them themselves when they see the work backing up?

carosel2 · 27/11/2021 16:20

@KAnthony - not sure of your message do you mean if you arent sat at the computer waiting for tasks then you risk missing good ones coming in? Im sat at my computer from 8.30 to 5pm everyday with grabbing a bit of lunch in between and going to loo etc. Ive had the same hospital for the last week or two (which is new to me) with different doctors dictating in one of my specialties and all are shocking. Ive seen nothing else, ive logged in today (Sat) and they are still on, the same hospital with shockers, I dont get where the other good work has gone, someone must have got it to type as Im sure Dict8 wouldnt let the good doctors wait for their work. This hospital is taking priority on my account. Surely if we all had the same workload in our speciality then this crap would have dissapeared by now. I can barely make £4 per hour as its soul destroying typing it trying to fathom out what is being said. Im putting plenty of notes on as Ive no choice but Dict8 need to monitor this themselves and give them advice at least on what sort of rubbish is coming in. I feel sickened for the patients if they have telephone appointments with them because if they talk to them on the phone how the speak on dictation god help them understanding, especially the poor elederly

KAnthony · 27/11/2021 16:34

@carosel2 it was more aimed at the comment about the good dictations being given to the good typists, each speciality clearly varies. Maybe it would help in yours if you do what the comment above says and email them to Dict8 to listen too and maybe suggest they get sent back as they are inaudible and unsafe? I was trying to say everyone gets the same lists of dictations, good and bad, I’m sure they don’t sit and listen through them saying ‘oh this is a good one we’ll send it to so and so and this is bad so someone else can have this’, how time consuming would that be! I see so much negativity on here towards Dict8 - it honestly fathoms me why people are still typing for them. If you was employed and felt like that I’m sure you’d find a new job?

Gally123 · 27/11/2021 16:38

@carosel2 - your comments remind me of one doctor I had who said in each letter that her telephone appointment conversation was difficult as the patient was hard of hearing, the fact that she had a strong accent and very poor English did not occur to her.

carosel2 · 27/11/2021 18:05

@KAnthony - you are very lucky that you get good dictation. If you didnt Im sure youd be as frustrated as some of us that just seems to be getting nothing but bad ones. I get your comment they wont listen to every task but theyve been going a long time and will know the long time doctors who are good. Ive had good ones too and there are a lot of them so Im wondering where they are as someone must type them.

KAnthony · 27/11/2021 18:21

@carosel2 this was my point about more typists if they’ve got more working for them then others may be grabbing the work before you even see it, my task list can say 14 one second and 2 a few seconds later! I do have bad also, mine are not all good but I’ll take 5 minutes away and just got back and tackle it as best I can-that’s all I can do. In my thoughts, working as a specialist user for the dictation programme at my last Trust-all dictations go straight into their speciality list, there must be 100’s and it’s automatic. I wonder if anyone asked Dict8 to explain the process of the dictations getting from A to B it may put peoples minds at ease they aren’t getting picked out specifically for the s**t dictations

Gally123 · 27/11/2021 18:27

I wish someone would explain to me why when I have several specialties that I only ever seem to see one of them in my task list at the moment, the same specialty all day every day, and none of the others. I dropped one specialty as that was all ever saw and there was none of the variety of a few years ago. With the feed system that DICT8 suggest there must be a way to even out who receives which specialties so that one person does not get all from one specialty and none from any other.

carosel2 · 27/11/2021 18:58

I was told.it was the doctor who uploads.his.work and can take.it back if he wanted his secretary to.type.it and it goes in a so called queue in date and time.order with the oldest being put forward to type first. Perhaps people who.only have one speciality could have one of your specialities @Gally123 and they will get them before you as the other horrible specialities are blocking your account, as they are the oldest and need typing first so the other specialities behind are getting typed before you get to them. Again @KAnthony - I understand there are lots of transcribers but why have I got the same 5 pending for.long periods surely if they are the oldest in my subject then others typing same should be tackling them too and Im sure theyd move pretty fast if say 500 transcribers were on the same 5

KAnthony · 27/11/2021 19:39

@carosel2 they probably think the same as you on them 5 and are really hoping someone else will take them eventually 🙈

carosel2 · 27/11/2021 21:01

@KAnthony - 😄 cant argue that one

Whitestar5 · 29/11/2021 14:12

If it's a bad dictation, what choice do we have but to at least type the template bits, date etc, then explain in the notes box just how sh*tty the dictation is to understand (wouldn't we just love to use such words haha) even if we have to do it 20 times, and just get paid for the template words and the other few words we can understand, sometimes that's the only way to get rid of the bad tasks.

Whitestar5 · 29/11/2021 14:59

@KAnthony - Some on here have done exactly that and have found a new job with Tpro. I think there's so much negativity in general because the rate of pay now, due to no rise for 10+ years, no longer compensates for all the unpaid, unproductive parts of the job (i.e. typing in hospital numbers in the HN field, researching names etc, proofreading) as they used to claim it did, and coupled with the worsening standard of dictation and having to use your own unpaid time to email them the task numbers etc, it's no wonder most feel peed off and the problem is most transcription companies are the same. I'm sure you know all this, but just saying....

KAnthony · 29/11/2021 15:10

@Whitestar5 I’m still fairly new to this (3 months) and although I have some bad dictations come through it doesn’t seem nearly as bad as what some people moan about on here, if it was bad as people are saying though why not leave Dict8 completely? It doesn’t seem as though those still commenting on here have. Everytime I seem to post something or everytime a new comment comes up 95% of the time it’s negative. I mean, I’m three months I’ve earned well, whose my hours and enjoyed it. I mean 8p per line is lousy but it soon adds up and I’m looking forward to continuing. So for all the negativity I’m just trying to throw some positivity out there!

Has anyone had a diary this year? I find them so useful for recording working times and daily earnings for the tax man.

ShanJG · 29/11/2021 15:51

Hi guys,

For everyone who works with TPro what day of the month do they usually pay you? Does it usually always land on the 7th of each month? Thanks.
