Ridiculously sunburnt, help!

Not in the uk so maybe sun is stronger in Denmark!

Sat near the water today which was sunny but breezy, had a jumper on and was comfortable. Like a fucking idiot I didn’t even consider the sunshine might be strong.

I am painfully sunburned all down one arm, my forehead and one side of my face and neck

I’ve had a cool shower and popped some cream on it but it hurts and I feel a bit weird and shaky.

What can I do!

Ginger kid here I've unfortunately gotten burned more times than I wished. The worst time was when I got sunstroke. My GP at the time prescribed a lot of rest, cooling baths and showers, cooled wet towels etc for relief. Drink lots of water to re-hydrate, avoid alcohol, and if you can't keep down a pinch of salt in your drinking water, eat lots of packets of crisps to get your salt levels back up.

I've tried all the remedies suggested above and honestly most of them only cool you down for a moment, except for Aloe vera or a proper aftersun lotion. My preference for bad sunburn is pure aloe vera. After about a week you'll start to itch and peel. I'm afraid the only thing that stopped the insane itch was having a few beers.

That’s a hardship I shall just have to bare Grin

Also sunburnt, but thankfully no blistering. The annoying thing is I only bought suncream yesterday but hadn't put it on because I was only intending to have a quick walk around the garden! Ended up sat chatting with my dad for an hour and now ouch. Whoops.

Soak a thin Tshirt in cold water, wring it out & sleep in it with a fan on low near the side of the bed. By morning it should have cooled down, take 2 Ibuprofen for the inflammation & keep Lucozade sport in the fridge or drink it over ice.

How are you feeling today?

MabelMoo23 · 01/06/2021 21:30

Hope you are feeling a bit better today. I got horrific sunburn in Thailand once. Never ever again.

It’s very true, it’s so easy to do, and you’ll never forget it.

If you have teabags dump a load of them in a very cool bath (as cold as you can put up with) and wallow for a bit. Try and keep the burnt area submerged for at least half hour.

Soak towel in water and put it on your sunburnt areas.
I did this once on holiday when I burnt my legs very badly. Gosh it was awful.
Hope you feel better soon

Sudocreme it.

@IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece

How are you enjoying Denmark?

They haven't stopped going on about the sun here and using block/staying in the shade.

I hope you're feeling a bit better by now 😊

🙄🙄🙄for your flatmate.

Do you not need to see a doctor? It sounds like 3rd degree burns. I was in Gran Canaria a few years ago and my friend got so sunburnt, and was given some special burns cream.

AlmostSummer21 I moved here just in time for lockdown and an awful winter so it was a rough few months Grin but I’m really enjoying the weather and the chance to get to discover the city now!

My ear is revolting, peely and weepy! And my nose and face are peeling but the pain is almost gone and it’s no longer hot. Basically I look hideous but I think the worst is over 😂

Thank you all!
