Strange "gift"

Karmaisabitch1 · 22/05/2021 13:01

If you received a bag of soil in the post, with a card that says "you're a dirtbag".

There's also a link to a website where the message is "karma is a bitch".

What would you think?

I'd imagine either knowingly or unknowingly you've slept with someone's other half.. Even years ago. And they've found out

MikeWozniaksGloriousTache · 22/05/2021 13:31

I’d think the sender is a bit thick and doesn’t understand how karma works if they have to send you a bag of dirt in the post to “get you back” for something.

Overdueanamechange · 22/05/2021 13:31

A friend's idea of practical joke? An ex-lover? Don't take it as a threat, but make a note when the card arrived / postmark etc., just in case anything else arrives.

I imagine it's the "what the fuck have I done to warrant this?" soul searching that's the real aim? I'd certainly feel real disquiet if I knew someone out there was plotting revenge!

@Tambora

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

Put the soil in a pot and plant some seeds. Smile

OopsUp · 22/05/2021 13:46

Wow.

Did it have your name on it? Wrong address ?

Karmaisabitch1 · 22/05/2021 13:51

It was sent from the US, so I'm not even sure that it's worth reporting to the police because I don't think they have any jurisdiction over the US.

Why would you report it to the police?!
Sixsillysausagessizzlinginapan · 22/05/2021 13:53

I'd think it was my best friend and laugh out loud 🤣

Karmaisabitch1 · 22/05/2021 13:54

I'm not going to report to the police. I was just wondering out loud.

Good start for a novel. I agree with PP - put the soil in a pot with seeds in and sit down to write chapter 1. I'd read it.

ChrisWitlessPatrickUnbalanced · 22/05/2021 13:58

Wow another service I didn't know existed along with the glitter dick bombs

Dugee · 22/05/2021 14:05

I did wonder if the glitter bomb threads, from a few weeks ago, would start a trend.

LunaNorth · 22/05/2021 14:07

Are you Martin Bashir?

NamechangeApril21 · 22/05/2021 14:08

Is this another advert after seeing how good the dick bomb thread went for promoting that?

GrandDuchessRomanov · 22/05/2021 14:10

Could have been worse OP.

Gucci1961 · 22/05/2021 14:14

Was it a commercially arrang3d thing? Or handwritten madness?

safariboot · 22/05/2021 14:18

Honestly, I'd be concerned for my and my family's safety. Someone who knows my address has a grudge against me. It was a bag of dirt this time, what's to say it isn't a petrol bomb next time?

Well this has gone from 0 to Mumsnet in record time.

What?! Why would you report it?
Dugee · 22/05/2021 14:23

I'd say either a friend who is a practical joker or someone you have upset. I doubt that you've got a harassment complaint, unless it carries on and you receive further "gifts".

Spandang · 22/05/2021 14:26

Did it come in your full name (correct name too, like not a maiden name for example) and is the address completely accurate?

I’m trying to think of ways you could narrow it down between someone who vaguely knows you and someone who knew you years ago.

Dugee · 22/05/2021 14:29

I've checked the citizens advice website and for a criminal complaint, you have to have been harassed on at least 2 occasions.

I'd try and forget about it and maybe worry if you receive anything else.

ChubbyMsSunshine · 22/05/2021 14:32

@LunaNorth

🤣
Dugee · 22/05/2021 14:33

Also, there's nothing directly threatening about it.

It's not a nice thing to receive but the sender hasn't directly threatened you.
