We are having homemade Chinese: sweet and sour sauce, salt and chilli chicken strips, some pork char Sui, egg fried rice, prawn crackers and spring rolls!

NavigationCentral · 16/05/2021 12:01

@MaryBoBary it is a more rudimentary version of biriyani. If you like biriyani (authentic Indian style) you are likely to like yaakhni which involves same concept of a combined protein and rice dish but with fewer steps and spices.

I do a much fewer steps and more basic version of above and it looks just like biriyani sans the yellow colour of turmeric because I don’t use that for this dish. Not sure what photos you saw as it’s pretty much a bowlful of biriyani

Crab and asparagus quiche, dressed new potatoes, salad. We're eating for the weather I want rather than the weather we have 😂

Cheekyweegobshite · 16/05/2021 12:05

Burnt aubergine chilli (as in the aubergine is burnt, not the chilli!) It's absolutely delicious, one of my favourites.

Only myself and dh tonight so we are having Cottage pie as dh doesn’t like roasts .

Squaretoe · 16/05/2021 12:22

Roast chicken, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puds, broccoli and peas. Dessert will be a sponge cake that DD2 wants to make later. I’m not the best cook but it makes me happy that the DDs prefer my roasties and yorkshires to the frozen ones!

sittingonacornflake · 16/05/2021 12:24

I'm just torturing myself by continuing to watch this thread.

newnortherner111 · 16/05/2021 12:41

I seem to be one of the few having fish (lemon sole).

KidneyBeans · 16/05/2021 12:41

Potato waffles sandwiches dripping with butter followed by a chocolate orange
Yum

CoodleMoodle · 16/05/2021 12:54

Sausage and mash here, with veg or salad. We were going to have puff pastry with it but I forgot to buy some, and it's pouring with rain so I'm not going out for it. The DC won't be pleased but they can make do with a Yorkshire pudding or two.

longtompot · 16/05/2021 13:17

Lemony roast chicken, roast potatoes and parsnips, and some mash for yd, glazed carrots, glazed courgettes, broccoli and maybe some cauliflower cheese (a small pain to make as ed is df so I have to make two). Oh, and lashings of gravy!
We don't tend to have pudding but I have some egg whites that need using up I might turn into a meringue or a Swiss roll type thing.

Christinayangtwistedsister · 16/05/2021 13:35

maddiemookins16mum · 16/05/2021 13:47

Toad in the hole with scrummy pork and wholegrain mustard sausages from the butcher, mash, carrots and greens. Oh plus onion gravy.
I also have a ginger and pear steamed sponge pudding with custard for pudding later.

EversoDelighted · 16/05/2021 13:51

Homemade pizza and salad followed by trifle. We never have our main meal at lunchtime (apart from Christmas Day) and aren't fans of roasts, also we're going out this afternoon so not much time for cooking.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/05/2021 13:53

Locally made pies (lamb for DP and chestnut and mushroom for me) with cheesy mash and homemade minted mashy peas.
