Accused of posting on someone's LinkedIn...

I work in a public sector organisation and have been called in by my line manager to say that I have posted something offensive on someone's LinkedIn page and of causing offensive comments on twitter. Confused

I have a LinkedIn account but don't use it much, I do remember following and unfollowing this person a few months ago but no recollection of posting on their page. Is there a way I can check whether I commented without looking at their profile? I know they can see if I have looked at them and I don't want them to make any more allegations about me.

Oh dear OP, I hope this all gets sorted for you Flowers

Terhou · 10/08/2021 07:24

@frumpety

I am intrigued how you 'caused' someone else to post offensive things on Twitter , are they suggesting you coerced another adult into doing it ?
It looks as if they're saying the offensive tweet contained information that must have come from OP, or possibly retweeted something she posted. But goodness knows how she's supposed to answer to that without seeing it.
TabbyBeast · 10/08/2021 07:29

This is utter madness! So sorry this is happening op. I worked for the local authority before having to leave due to ill health. Bullying was rife, managers never followed policies, managers who didn't even understand your job but micromanaged so they could be seen as managing you. Good luck Flowers

Amandasummers · 10/08/2021 07:31

Op, you’re doing so well, and I feel like you’re being hard in yourself thinking your anxiety is out of proportion, but months of being accused of something but not being told what that something is would be enough to drive anybody to suffer with severe anxiety!!! I would be absolutely losing my shit by now and not knowing what even the issue is or wtf a childhood picture had to do with anyway would honestly have me reeling!!

Slayduggee · 10/08/2021 07:32

Fingers crossed for you

You can look at someone’s LinkedIn profile anonymously.

Just RTWT, I’m aghast. This is absolutely disgusting. OP I know you’re going through your union rep but you should consider a solicitor.

TheSquashyHatOfMrGnosspelius · 10/08/2021 07:50

I fail to see why there are so many managers and employers that don't have the slightest clue how to do their job properly.

I had similar with my ex employer. I had a meeting with him, his manager and my union rep who was brilliant. My ex boss who was a sneaky bastard was cut right down to size by my rep. If I could have had a pound for every time my rep said, "You could do that but it would be illegal Mr. " In front of his manager he just showed how little knowledge he had of the law let alone employment law. He's in love with her so it was humiliating as hell for him.

I would never step into a job without union now. A friend has taken my old job and I have advised her to keep records of everything and have full cover. He's still a twat and has learned nothing.

storkstalk · 10/08/2021 08:31

This is really when unions come in to their own. Good luck OP! I don’t think your anxiety is disproportionate, this long waiting would be difficult for anybody.

Hopeisallineed · 10/08/2021 08:33

Really hope you are having some relaxing time off.

Littlekittyscupcake · 10/08/2021 08:37

I really hope your boss gets his comeuppance over this Berry. I used to have a bully for a boss and suffer with anxiety which was off the scale when I worked for her so I can understand some of the feelings you describe. Please update when anything else happens

Butterfly44 · 10/08/2021 08:47

Hope it goes ok. Just know you are in the right and I hope your LM will gave consequences over this

PaddleBlue · 10/08/2021 08:55

This is ridiculous, I’m so sorry Flowers

TootTootTootToot · 10/08/2021 09:03

I’ve just read your thread. What a crazy situation. I hope everything gets resolved soon.

GrandmaSteglitszch · 10/08/2021 09:04

I've just read all your posts, OP.
Your boss is surely going to end up covered in excrement.
You're doing everything right.

Bearyhumcrack · 10/08/2021 09:04

I'm drinking far too much! But having a pretty chilled time. I will update when anything changes. Thank you for the support, it really helps!

I remember this when it was first posted. I can’t believe it is still going on. I think your Rep has to complain that this has not been done in a timely manner.

Not the same but I had an ex colleague who posted a comment on my SM. It was vague and didn’t mention anyone/any place. One of the managers took offence. Tried to go after me, got nowhere. She then tried to go after colleague in new post. Her new manager said she didn’t see what the issue was as it was nothing to do with them and out of work hours.
Went on for weeks with manager making repeated threats and complains to ex colleague and new place of work. They had to complain to our work for her to stop.she was a horrible bully who couldn’t believe she hadn’t won.

RandomMess · 10/08/2021 09:14

I am late to your thread. I hope your LM gets their comeuppance for being a bullying idiot.

Thanks
SirVixofVixHall · 10/08/2021 09:16

I can’t believe you are still in limbo Op. It sounds as though your manager is totally incompetent.

Kithic · 10/08/2021 09:18

Goodness, this is still going on?? Poor thing OP

Are you able to raise a grievance?

ripplestitchblank · 10/08/2021 09:30

Sending you all the luck and calm vibes! Enjoy your a/l

QualityMarguerite · 10/08/2021 09:34

I remember this too - can’t believe it hasn’t been sorted yet. Good luck and we’ll bloody done so far!

FrankButchersDickieBow · 10/08/2021 09:57

@StrictlyAFemaleFemale yes but rep isn't great

If you aren't happy with your representation, contact your union directly and let them know why you don't feel you are being represented well. They will have to sort it out. They will give the rep the support they need to assist you.

You are paying union fees, you are entitled to suitable representation.

Have you even contacted your rep, or have you just thought that they will be rubbish, so haven't bothered?
