Trying to book vaccine, error message!

Mrsfrumble · 27/04/2021 15:19

Apologies if this has already been discussed at length in the coronavirus topic; I hid it ages ago and can’t remember my desktop login to unhide.

Anyway, I was very excited to see this morning that 42 year olds like me can finally have our vaccinations! Straight away I went online, armed with my NHS number to book, only to be met with an error code 9907 because the NHS can’t find my record to see which dose I need (not surprising as I haven’t had one yet) Confused I reported it to 119 as advised, and the person on the phone told me it’s a common problem and to try again in 24 hours. Has anyone else experienced this? I know it’s not the end of the world, but I’m anxious about side effects and just want to get on and have it so it’s out the way.

It’s kinda nice to know I’m not alone. I’m 49 and have been trying to book my vaccine since becoming eligible. After eventually finding out I had been deregistered from my gp due to no recent attendance, and therefore NHS website saying I didn’t exist, I registered with a different surgery but 1 week later I still cannot book mine. I called 119 today and spoke to an operator who had not heard of the code and was unable/unwilling to help me. So I’m still here, feeling excluded and frustrated, because I want a vaccine that I just can’t seem to get, and every time I hear a government minister puffing his chest out and congratulating himself on the success of the programme I want to reach into my tv and scream into his face “what about me!”.

AHurtado · 07/05/2021 13:17

Anyone had any luck? Called my council, called 119 again. Last 119 agent told me to wait 2 weeks. They are aware of the issue but nothing has been done yet. This is so frustrating

Mrsfrumble · 08/05/2021 11:35

@AHurtado did amending the postcode error not fix it?

I had my vaccination yesterday at the ExCel, where I could book directly. The woman who booked me in when I got there had to enter my GP’s details manually as they weren’t linked to my NHS number / DOB / address on the system. This is despite my surgery reassuring me that all was in order at their end and I definitely hadn’t been deregistered. So maybe that’s what’s causing the problem for others?

Then I was making small talk with the guy who was doing the injection and he commented that I’d travelled a long way, and couldn’t I find a slot closer? I explained what had happened and how long it had been going on for, he said “wow! Most people would have given up trying to book by now” 😬😬

@Mrsfrumble that is so great you got yours, well done. No luck yet at my end. So how did you book at the excel? Did you book beforehand or just turned up?

Mrsfrumble · 08/05/2021 11:52

I followed the link that Ducky posted above, and emailed them. They called me back the day after and booked me in straight away for the next morning with no problem. There was no queue or waiting when I got there and it was all very efficient and friendly. They are only offering the AZ though, so I don’t know if that’s put people off?

AHurtado · 08/05/2021 17:33

@Mrsfrumble thanks for the advice- i e-mailed them and they called me back- i am booked in for tomorrow morning. Yay!!!

Mrsfrumble · 08/05/2021 18:25

Hooray @AHurtado! That’s great news. It will be interesting to see if they have your GP on file when they book you in.

My tip is to stock up paracetamol. Hopefully you won’t be affected by side effects, but just in case...

We have the same problem, tried to book my wife in for her vaccine and got the Error code 9907, my wife is a Thai national.

They asked if my wife had only recently registered with a new GP, I said she is fairly recent, about 3-4 months since her registration, they said this was what the problem was. I told them however that my wife's NHS number can easily be found on the governments website so the computers are up to date with her latest information and all of her details are correct at the GP also.

They then told me there are many people with the same problem with this error code and that they will log it as an error. I am very suspicious though as I had no problem at all registering for my vaccination. I have been trying to book her vaccine for about 3 weeks now and still no luck.

They said they are trying to fix the bug (if it is a bug, my suspicious mind at work here again). I will try again next Monday and I will keep phoning them everyday until they get it sorted. Please don't be afraid to keep phoning them also, the call is free and the more everyone pesters them the quicker they will have to sort the problem!

Hi

Has anyone who has had the error code9907 actually managed to book online? I've been trying for 3 and a half weeks now with lots of calls to 199 and GP without success. I've checked all my details etc, etc.

Thanks

Rosie492 · 15/05/2021 17:05

No - it's a bloody disgrace! You can log a complaint with [email protected], with "Stage 1 Complaint" as the subject header, which I am in the process of doing. This all takes time though, and in the meantime, nothing is being done. Being aware of the problem as some 119 operators state, is simply not enough. It needs concrete action to be resolved immediately! Perhaps alerting the media is the next port of call......

Suindeb123456 · 15/05/2021 18:17

Rosie492
I’ve logged a complaint this week already. I was told 5 days for a response. it’s been three so far so we shall see.
I’ve emailed BBC a copy of my complaint as well! I’m concerned living in the North West but I’m not near enough for the vaccine centres that are now set up in Bolton and Blackburn. I’m a teacher, my husband and kids are all asthmatic (one vulnerable) and help care for my mum who is extremely clinically vulnerable so like you said it is a disgrace! I read some where it might be because I’ve not been to the gp in a while so I’ve booked an appointment to see if that makes a difference. Hope
You get there as well.

Rosie492 · 15/05/2021 18:50

Thank you, @Suindeb123456. I am also a teacher, working full-time in the north-west (too far, sadly, from the centre as helpfully suggested by @Mrsfrumble (!) but too close for comfort from the new Indian variant hotspots). It's only a matter of time before we shall be facing prolonged restrictions / local lockdowns (but that's another issue....). I am not sure why these smug, self-satisfied politicians are not acting to ensure everyone can access the vaccinations. If having a fully vaccinated population is the end goal, then why are they happy to sit back and allow people to be cast aside through no fault of their own? Good luck to everyone who is struggling to get vaccinated. Rest assured, I shall be alerting national newspapers to our plight!

I have been trying since 27th April to get my first vaccination I am 42. They are very apologetic on the phone but say dues to a glitch a small number of patients can't book using the system and there is nothing that can be done unless the system is fixed- they advised me to keep trying every 7 days so I don't get too frustrated.

It may be worth calling your GP to let them know you can't book online. It may be that they can book you in at a local hub instead.
Tolstoy1 · 15/05/2021 19:02

hello yes I have tried, more than once,- alas they said they couldn't help- they just advised me to keep trying the portal :)

Sophocles1 · 16/05/2021 10:04

This is terrible, @Tolstoy1, I’m so sorry. It sounds like there is no plan to fix it at all as this has been a known problem for weeks and it is very unhelpful that the 119 operators are left offering speculative reasons for the problem when you call. I can’t understand why there is no option making it possible to manually fix the issue. I have written to my MP but received no reply.

Tolstoy1 · 16/05/2021 14:54

I rather wonder if it's because they are so keen to encourage those who who are sceptical about vaccines- drawing attention to this problem could give some people an 'excuse' not to try? The government and media are probably on the same page in this regard.

babypeach · 17/05/2021 14:54

Came across this thread after googling the error code and am now even more annoyed than when I thought it was just me!

I too was told by 119 that it definitely meant my doctor had deregistered me. The surgery confirmed I’m still a patient and were bemused as to what the 119 person meant as they could view my records fine.

The gp noticed I hadn’t formally received an invite so she did that for me two days early in case it would help.

I followed the link on that but it gives me a choice of only one centre which is fully booked apparently. That would be ok except my husband received his invite today and has a choice of 5 different places and plenty of appointments none of which include the only centre available to me and we are both at the same go surgery!!

Tomorrow I will need to spend yet more time in phoning around to try and sort this out.

Glad to have others to moan too!

Sophocles1 · 18/05/2021 21:40

Someone on Twitter has a suggestion here twitter.com/JimmyC11111/status/1394623901074874379?s=20

Has anyone had any joy getting their GP to call NHS Digital and get this syncing problem fixed?

Trying to book vaccine, error message!
Mrsfrumble · 19/05/2021 07:53

Thanks @Sophocles1, that’s interesting. Despite me now having had my vaccine, it’s not showing up on the NHS app - which apparently be my vaccine passport - because, according to the app, I’m not registered with my GP. (Funnily enough, the app knows who my GP should be, but also says I’m not registered.) GP surgery insists otherwise.

I wonder if I can get them to deregister then reregister me? Maybe that would help?

OP posts:
Sophocles1 · 19/05/2021 08:09

Oh no, I was worried that the vaccine passport might be a problem! I had a problem with signing up for the NHS app too a few months ago - before I was aware of this 9907 problem. I remember that initially the app didn’t recognise me at all but my GP surgery was able to manually link me somehow and I had to send them a copy of my passport. It sounds like your problem is slightly different but is must be somehow related to a failure to connect/sync properly. Hmm! Glad you got your jab though!

babypeach · 19/05/2021 14:57

Just an update on my experience...

Despite an initial call to the gp in which the receptionist reassured me I was definitely registered and then also somehow sent me an invite by text (which linked to a system that only offers one constantly full centre)

It turns out after another call to 119 and then again to the gp I am NOT registered and haven’t been since 2015!!! The gp receptionist I spoke to this time informed me that it was because I had changed my name to my married name (umm I’ve been married 15 years?!) then said it was because I’d moved out of London (nope never, and have only ever been registered at this gp!) and just kept repeating that I needed to consent to being re-registered and bring in my id

Honestly I am bewildered but will update once re-registered properly.

Thought it might help those who have been told by gp it’s not their end that’s the problem because apparently despite having not been registered since 2015 the original receptionist could see my details this and managed to send me an invite so it looked like I was registered!

Fingers crossed we all get sorted soon

Katwar80 · 20/05/2021 07:11

Hi , I’m am getting this error now and no one can seem to help, did you manage to get it sorted in the end?

Sophocles1 · 23/05/2021 10:12

Hi @Katwar80, I have finally managed to get it sorted! Once my age group become nationally eligible my GP surgery gave me the number for their local GP vaccination network. I had to hold the line for almost 2 hours but when I got through I spoke to someone who was able to send me a text to get a vaccine at the local GP hub (and I was automatically allocated a Pfizer vaccine per the under-40s guidance). Now that I have had one jab, that seems somehow to have prompted my records to update so that my Covid status is showing on the NHS app and also when I go onto the NHS booking site that is finally letting me through, so hopefully I can book my second appointment that way somewhere closer to home as the GP hub was a fair walk. My GP surgery is actually v helpful but they were not very familiar with the error code (they said only a couple of other patients had had it) so it was useful to be able to explain the problem using knowledge from this thread so as to persuade them to give me the referral. I believe others have had success through going to walk-in centres as well, but I don’t know if anyone has actually successfully resolved the 9907 error itself so that they can book directly on the NHS website - that route seems very “computer says no”. I’m very relieved and grateful to be on the road to my second dose! Really hope that helps and you are able to get jabbed!

Jo100000 · 26/05/2021 16:29

Hello everyone, I have a solution. I'm trying to book a vaccine since 17th of May and finally today 26th of May I was successful.
Every time I contacted my GP they said everything is fine on their side and on 119 they kept saying it's my GP's fault. Actually 119 was right. I was trying all kinds of combinations how I could book the vaccine and noticed my GP mixed my date of birth. The day and month were mixed resulting in the famous error code 9907.
I booked both vaccines with the wrong date of birth and I will correct it soon with my GP.

If you get error code 9907 contact your GP and tell them your details are not correct, and double check your name, DOB, postcode, they have to be 100% correct in order to book the vaccine. Good luck everyone, I hope this helps.
